Remember our chats??

Our SOTD (scent of the day)?

Is there a thread I've missed Shock

If not, lets take it up here :)

SOTD an unknown sample from my perfume drawer, woodsy and irisy, am baffled but enjoying it!

For another vetiver not commonly sniffed, try Cloon Keen Atelier: Castana

Missing my Kilians, promise to organize my dresser later today, I'm sure they are there somewhere. I need bright burst of tropical flowers, Beyond Love would be just right. For now, SOTD is Huile Prodigieuse...

FrugalFashionista · 01/03/2015 19:12

I used an old Fly lady trick and put the kitchen timer on for 15 minutes of focused organizing and decluttering. Found my Kilians and quite a few of other favorites!

ToysRLuv · 01/03/2015 20:31

Well done! I am in the clutches of a cold. Have been in bed and on pain killers. Tried Canny's Fleur de Cassie. Totally different to what I thought it would be. Very animalistic. I don't know what to think about it. But a boring floral it's not!

FrugalFashionista · 02/03/2015 09:00

Hope you'll get better soon Toys! Head colds are particularly bad for a perfumista.

A wet, dark day here. Yesterday was sunny and summery, I paired flares with Cristalle and enjoyed the 1970s vibe. Today offsetting the humidity with lush hothouse flowers - Beyond Love, By Kilian. Calice Becker is a genius.

FrugalFashionista · 02/03/2015 09:14

There is a new Chanel exclusif in town - Misia, a lipstick rose. Probably not my thing but I think some of you might fall for it! Sad that I did know about it yesterday as I was in town and could have sampled it. I'm also interested in the newish leathery Hermessence.

If someone likes challenging, weird, distinctive perfumes, this blog is one of the very best.

FrugalFashionista · 02/03/2015 09:19

Funnily enough Bois de Jamin recommends L'eau d'hiver for when you are under the weather!

canny1234 · 02/03/2015 09:46

I'm taking part in a Misia split on Fragantica.Does anyone else want to join in?I think we need more takers to acquire the larger less expensive bottle.
Toys,I also found Fleur de Cassie interesting and not what I expected.I loved Rose de Kandahar but it wouldn't be a perfume I would wear often.I'm still loving Carillon Pour un Ange. The longevity is amazing - I can smell it on my arm 2 days ( 2 showers ) later.
We have snow on the hills today - it looks like Switzerland, with the snow and the bright blue sky.Adding a touch of warmth with Terre d'iris by Miller Harris.
I'm envious of the lovely perfume shops in Italy Frugal. They look so beautiful and opulent. In rural West Midlands I have a choice of Boots or a very small department store or Tk Maxx ( best niche stockists).

niminypiminy · 02/03/2015 10:19

I love Fleur de Cassie. It kind of reminds me of Cos clothes -- austere and grown-up and stylish. I keep meaning to buy one of the travel size bottles on the FM site.

Just bought a 3ml sample of of pre-WW2 L'Heure Blueue from 4160 Tuesdays. Very excited at the thought of this!

Am wearing Toys's Shem-el-Nessim. I'm still too be-colded really, and it's very faint, but even the ghost of it is beautiful.

ToysRLuv · 02/03/2015 13:40

Writing this from bed. It's a funny kind of non-snotty cold. Body aches, tiredness, slight temp and headache. I am so tempted by Misia.. how much us the split likely to be, Canny?

Frugal, I get that about L'eau d'hiver! It has that warmth of vick's vapour rub, but not the pungent smell. I might try and find it, as soon as I get the energy to get out of bed.

Couldn't find my L'eau d'Hiver (I really need some organisation here instead of this ungodly mess), so put on some Hypnotic Poison (original formula). I always thought this was really medicinal. Sort of toothpastey, so it will have to do. It really is ridiculous that even lying in bed in sweaty jammies with a cold, I still want to wear perfume. The painkillers are kicking in, so feel a bit better.

FrugalFashionista · 02/03/2015 14:28

Toys perfumes are an essential part of the cure Wink - I detest it when my nose goes offline. Sleep a lot and read something trashy, hope you'll feel better soon!

Canny I'd love to help with the Misia split but lipstick rose is tricky territory for me. And nobody would guess they you don't live in a perfume heaven - the good stuff comes to you!

niminypiminy · 02/03/2015 14:48

Another approach to perfume for a cold: Esprit du tigre by Heeley -- an evocation of Tiger Balm (remember that?). There can't be that many perfumes with a dominant note of eucalyptus, but that's it. It's actually rather lovely, in a very eccentric way. But I might try some for a blocked nose...

canny1234 · 02/03/2015 17:04

Toys if we get ( not me hosting the split)a few more vouches, the lady hosting can order the 200 ml bottle which should work out at about a £1 per ml ( approximate costs ).I've put my name down for 10 mls - I might up it a bit I think maybe we're up to 120 mls so far.
I love Heeley perfumes but I'm really not sure of the advisability of paying a lot for this Perfume when Tiger balm is peanuts to buy ( though maybe I'm just mean and have loads of Tiger balm left over from living in Asia).

ToysRLuv · 02/03/2015 17:29

Ah, sounds good, canny. Can you give a link to the split thread?

ToysRLuv · 02/03/2015 17:35

Toomuchtea, I got your parcel today! Thanks so much! I had already doused myself in Hypnotic Poison, so can't sample anything until that fades a bit, but I'm really looking forward to it..

I've got a sample of Baume du Doge. It's ok, but a bit sharp for me.

Today is a fantastic warm spring day. Last night, I sniffed mimosas and magnolias in bloom and saw a wild violet growing on a stone terrace.

SOTD: my favorite perfume to express exuberance and joy, the amazing Y extrait.

ToysRLuv · 03/03/2015 09:31

It's snow on the ground here, Frugal.

Sotd: Tuesday's the Sexiest Scent. Very nice. I really like it, actually (thanks toomuchtea!). Sexy, though? I don't know. When I think if a sexy scent, I think if something like Bvlgari Black..

cressetmama · 03/03/2015 09:35

Love Y, even the current version, envying you the extrait and the spring day. Here in Cornwall we have had the sun, a deluge, a double rainbow and wind, this morning since 7.30!

canny1234 · 03/03/2015 10:20

Fleur du Matin today( miller Harris).I love every aspect of this, the citrussy aromatic top notes and the floral notes plus the drydown - but its just so subtle with minimal silage.I'm literally pouring it on my arm from the splash bottle.
Its a beautiful cold sunny day here. The snowdrops, hellebores and crocus are in full flower and spring is in the air ( but no Magnolia or Mimosa yet Envy).

CointreauVersial · 03/03/2015 22:50

Timbuktu here. I find it very soapy; not unpleasant but it doesn't really "speak" to me. It's one of those fragrances that I feel I should love, based on the notes, but somehow don't.

FrugalFashionista · 04/03/2015 07:41

Trying out Aqua Divina from Bulgari, the saleslady at Sephora gave me two samples. I don't usually like aquatics and fresh perfumes, but this one really makes it clear that masculines for women are now a mainstream trend.

This is not too bad, has some body and substance to it, but has a fairly generic locker room showel gel vibe. But I like wearing masculines so this smells comforting and good and a whole lot more exciting than a generic light floral. Like realizing that that ordinary looking guy at work is kind of hot, and that you are now wearing his sweater.

Cresset Y extrait is really easy to find on eBay! Cornwall sounds dreamy to me... Toys I envy the snow. (Spent a weekend up north last month - attached ice grips to my shoes and enjoyed the snowdrifts. February in the far north is my favorite time of the year.)
