The only way I'll get teen ds to wear a coat this winter is if it has a over priced super dry logo on it Hmm

I'm looking at the website at the Arctic wind trekker and the wind trekker. Is the Arctic one REALLY toasty as he won't like that, he's more of a light jacket boy but it does need to be slightly water repellent and see him through the winter so perhaps the wind trekker?

Anyone have a ds with one?
He's going halves with me btw,I can't bring myself to spend that much on a winter coatGrin

the only difference between the men's and women's is the colour apparently. Or so the bored looking guy in Superdry said anyway. We still went with the mens.

Ds2 has just outgrown his small mens one, hes 13 in January. He has a blazer for school but folds it and puts it in his bag (he has to carry huge sports bag as has sports most days after school, and then puts his superdry jacket in. I have emblazoned the sewn in label with black marker pen and his full name, I'm not risking that going missing. Only downside is I was going to pass it on to a rugby team friend but they don't want it now as apparently he will have the mickey taken out of him for having a second hand coat.

We are just beginning the search for a new superdry coat, ds2 wants a superdry parka, but they are so expensive and I think will be too warm and bulky s he cycles to school. The windcheater is the one he has and so do most of his friends. Lots of choice, fleece or mesh lined, I prefer fleece as t least a degree of warmth, and hood or no hood. again I prefer hood as boys never carry umbrellas but ds2 prefers no hood.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 13:33

Ds prefers no hood, well actually he prefers no coat at all, but that's why I've said it has to be the Arctic as it has a hood.

I've started labelling on the inside of jacket cuffs so not obvious but ds knows where to look.

Could anyone link me to the superdry ebay outlet shop please?

boobyooby · 25/09/2014 13:39

I'm about to embark on another superdry winter coat for DS1, he's 15 now so won't wear much else. Have to say apart from he has grown out of it (and I'm hoping I can fit into it) last years coat still looks as new so I don't mind buying as he will wear it every day! DD1 will no doubt also need one too Smile

DialsMavis · 25/09/2014 13:46

I'm insisting on a hood

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 14:05

I've just looked at the outlet store on Ebay it's got really bad negative feed back and loads of them!

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/09/2014 14:24

I think ou have to be careful hat you haven't accidently brought a factory seconds or a faulty returns, Check the listing carefully. As long as its a new item should be ok. They deliver the same way as when you order from the store, I just old my brother about it and he already knew and has brought loads from there. He said just check the listing carefully.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/09/2014 14:26

they sell 20,000 items a month!!!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 14:37

Blimey!

Interesting about the differences between the men's & women's. Took DS (nearly 12) into Superdry shop at the w/end as he needs a new jacket & mentioned this as somewhere he'd like to look.

Asked assistant where to find the boys' jackets & was told: "There's no difference between the boys' coats & the women's". Was a bit surprised & asked if he could tell me where they were, & he said they were upstairs. Upstairs there were lots of women's jackets. DS insisted they looked like women's jackets & no way was he trying any of them on - so we left.

So should the assistant have been directing us to the smaller men's sizes? Or maybe he sized up DS as too small? He's average height among his friends & very slim, though just realized (bad mother!) I don't know his exact height right now.

Don't know where to look for a Winter coat / jacket now! He used to get them from Next but there was nothing there he liked either.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 14:48

On the website there's no children's section at all unless I've missed it, just men and women.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 14:49

I looked at Next too, and thought there was a dismal selection tbh.

LoonvanBoon · 25/09/2014 14:50

Okay, thanks - I think I'll take some measurements & then we can look again online at the men's section.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/09/2014 14:59

No they don't sell childrens sizes.

the clothing does come up very small. ds2 is 12 (13 in jan) he is a big lad though, 5'10 and size 10 feet already. He is broad, 100% not fat but hes not skinny. He is a small mens in most shops but at superdry he is at least a medium and I think I will buy a large for his new jacket to see him through the winter.

the superdry staff said no difference except for the colourways, some of the ladies ones are pink etc. I'm not sure what it says on the label on the inside though.

ive just looked at the pics online and if you brought this one www.superdry.com/womens/windcheaters/details/48396/arctic-windcheater you wouldn't know if it was mens or womens. I think you may have been directed to womens as they sell xxs and xs whereas the 'mens' range starts at small. whereas the same jacket come in pale pink, therefore ds would perhaps not wear it? If he is conscious of not wanting a womens one (despite here being no difference) perhaps measure him and order according to the size he measures as and then he'll never know Wink if he wants the cardboard bag as a show off thing pm me we have loads im more thanhappy to post one!

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/09/2014 15:02

an example of how they are the same, ds1 (17) has this exact colourway brought last winter from the mens department. www.superdry.com/womens/windcheaters/details/42966/technical-windcheater zips all on the same side, embroidery all the same, colours exactly the same.

I was definitely from the mens department as I was with him when he brought it, courtesy of bank of mum and dad!

LoonvanBoon · 25/09/2014 15:22

Thanks, Helpme - have just had a look & there really is no difference, is there? In store we only saw the women's windcheater in black / charcoal with pink trim, which was enough to turn DS against the whole idea! He might well like the black / blue or black / ecru versions, though. The women's XS looks like it could be the right size too, but will double check the measurements.

HolgerDanske · 25/09/2014 18:18

There is a subtle difference between men's and ladies - the ladies is slightly fitted and the men's is more straight cut. But it's not generally noticeable.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2014 16:51

It's arrivedGrin

Much excitement in Diazepam towers! So ds is 5.5 (he's grown since I last measured him!) Size 7 feet and wears a 36 inch school jumper and the medium is big on him. I would go against the grain and say the sizes aren't particularly small. We've kept the medium as he's due a growth spurt soon and I want him to get a lot of wear out of it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/09/2014 16:55

I think the quality is ok, it's rubbish compared to something like Patagonia or karrimoor but it's ok and he'll wear it. Whoever said the fleece was thin is right, it is but the thumb holes are excellentGrin
