The only way I'll get teen ds to wear a coat this winter is if it has a over priced super dry logo on it Hmm

I'm looking at the website at the Arctic wind trekker and the wind trekker. Is the Arctic one REALLY toasty as he won't like that, he's more of a light jacket boy but it does need to be slightly water repellent and see him through the winter so perhaps the wind trekker?

Anyone have a ds with one?
He's going halves with me btw,I can't bring myself to spend that much on a winter coatGrin

There's a Superdry outlet in Ashford if that's any use.

Hakluyt · 25/09/2014 09:18

That's where ds's came from. Also dd's Ted Baker parka!

wannabestressfree · 25/09/2014 09:20

Just be careful on the sizing. It's very dinky. I would go with the larger size, even if it's on the large size the jackets are so sculptured they won't be enormous (if that makes sense)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 09:21

I ended up ordering a medium and a large and I'll bring out the large first and only if that's ginormous will
I bring out the medium Wink

I have never understood blazers-awful things! Ds walks to school , it's a half hour walk and it snows every year so if possible I'd like to avoid the daily battle of 'yes you DO need to wear a coat!'Grin

Thanks for your helpThanks

We get ours on Ashford too :)

Behoove · 25/09/2014 09:22

Same here holger. And the horrible thing takes forever to dry once it gets wet.

It's even more galling when we see the teachers and staff on their way to school wearing weather appropriate clothing, while the kids are trudging along in their deadweight blazers.

Hakluyt · 25/09/2014 09:45

At ds's school they tend to shove their blazers in their bags and wear Superdry jackets, then put the blazers on once they're in school.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 09:55

There's such a gap in the market for teen boy jackets, I'm sure that's one of the reasons they're so popular.

Only consolation is that they are actually good jackets. Ds got his in year 7 and is still wearing it in year 9. It was a bit big in year 7

coffeenut · 25/09/2014 10:00

they do have a crazy number of zips.

are they considered kids' jackets in the UK?

HolgerDanske · 25/09/2014 10:03

No they're not, plenty of adults wear them as well. But they are very popular with teenagers.

jeee · 25/09/2014 10:04

When my dd got her superdry coat (year 7) I pointed out that she'd just spent all her birthday money on a plain black caguole. It's looking a bit tatty now (year 9), but is still going strong.

HolgerDanske · 25/09/2014 10:07

But it's about so much more than the coat isn't it. It's about being part of the tribe during a very turbulent and confusing time where you're only just starting to find your identity. It's about feeling that sense of belonging and of being good enough, of saying, I fit in, therefore I am.

Bless their little cotton socks. We sell them in our shop and droves of children come in to get one shortly after starting secondary school. It's almost a rite of passage, I think. Makes me smile every time Smile

HolgerDanske · 25/09/2014 10:09

(Of course it helps to justify the price that they are good quality and do keep the rain off Wink)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 12:38

Holger-you're spot on!

OP I have pm you Wink

DialsMavis · 25/09/2014 12:59

I told DS they would be completely out of fashion by this year, but it seems I was wrong. I told him he could have one for high school if he still wanted one. He is nearly 12 and 5'2" and skinny. Would the s man size be ok or should I get s woman's? He would also go for the tightest, skinniest fit if it was down to him, but I would rather it lasts 2 years to make up for the outlay

DialsMavis · 25/09/2014 13:01

I also love Holgers post Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 13:03

Dials-I will let you know when ds's comes as he's 5.3 and skinny. It's due Saturday so I'll post over the weekend. Are the women's and men's interchangeable then?

IHaveBrilloHair · 25/09/2014 13:05

I bought dd one and thought it was so nice and good quality that I bought one for myself, I love the thumb holes

DialsMavis · 25/09/2014 13:10

Yes please Dame They look the same to my untrained eye (in black colour way). DS has women's Kickers boots as he has skinny fit &theywere£30onAmazon

CiderwithBuda · 25/09/2014 13:11

DialsMavis - I wouldn't get the women's. If he doesn't notice one of his mates will and he will be teased and then won't wear it. Mine would wear a woman's one. They are slim fitting anyway so the men's should be fine.

DialsMavis · 25/09/2014 13:11

Ah ok, I will save him the trauma!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/09/2014 13:13
