OP posts:
wilbur · 10/10/2014 12:29

I have got my Ugly Raincoat out in anticipation of ds2's footie tournament this afternoon, but am hoping not to have to wear it tomorrow. Sorry you won;t be there, addle, hope your ddad is ok.

Am just printing out my tax info all organised for the accountant, so halo is being polished. Going to have horrid bill in Jan, however, due to forgetting to deregister for Child Benefit for months after the deadline. As we have 3 kids it's quite a whack, grrr.

Right, on with Friday chores.

MontserratCaballe · 10/10/2014 13:19

I have had my first session with the personal trainer which DH bought me for my birthday. She is encouraging the ladyjogging and made me do terrible things on a yoga mat. Suffice it to say I was puce for about an hour after she left and I had to go downstairs on my bum! Ouch.

Hope all crepeys are starting to relax a little ready for the weekend and feeling the strains of the week start to ease Flowers

motherinferior · 10/10/2014 13:35

Oh yes, I have conducted three Ladyjogs this week.

I am fighting the urge for a snooze. Have also had long conversation with lovely friend, whose younger daughter is one of DD2's best mates (and confusingly has the same name as DD1 Confused) about another child who is clearly trying to bully and manipulate her daughter. Must chat to DD2 about it later.

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2014 13:40

Eeek Monty - that sounds hardcore!

NU, don't panic - I think it's just the morningWink

Cremo, happy to help you hobble along to the MB if you need an arm to lean on?!

Can everyone shout loudly to me tomorrow night as I have Eustachian tube dysfunction and can't hear a bloody thingAngry

Rosebag · 10/10/2014 16:04

On no tilly that's miserable. I've had it more than once. Poor you.
monty I'm not sure even the personal trainer from hell should leave you unable to walk!! Didn't she do some cool down exercises and stretches at the end?
Have had a morning mooching around the shops trying on stuff that mostly didn't fit but got two very pleasing fine knit hoody tops from H&M which are surprisingly nice. Have not solved the need for a black tie dress for forthcoming charity gala at exceptionally posh city location. Sick of recycling old dresses and many of what I have are too blingy. This crowd is expensively underdressed iyswim. I am looking for a black, maroon or midnight blue 1920s style flapper dress. Can anyone help? Has to be good for hourglass shape and big bottom. And don't want to look like I'm going to a fancy dress party.... Hmm

cremolafoam · 10/10/2014 16:17

Rose try Biba at HOF. Lots of that kind of dress. Also saw a couple in Bank

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2014 16:32

Rose, how did you get rid of it? It's driving me madder than usual!

Rosebag · 10/10/2014 18:33

Thanks crem I will look online!
tilly well! my first attack went on for so long I convinced the Gp to refer me to ENT and they put me on a short sharp course of steroids which did the trick. A couple of years later I got it again and the steroids didn't work. The ENT guy told me to use decongestants and do the Valsalver manoeuvre (can describe if you want! ) for around 10 days and if that didn't work he'd send me for a sinus x ray and would probably put in a grommet!! The decongestant ( spray and tablets) with lots of valsalver did the trick and I've been ok since. It's to do with my allergies. If I keep them under control it's unlikely to come back apparently.

I have just had a long hot uninterrupted shower. How lovely. Grin I treated myself to a blow dry at a new salon in the next village along the coast. The back washes are in a separate room, with fairy lights, piped music, and completely reclining chairs. The ( male ) stylist asked me if I wanted the massage function on the chair switched on during my shampoo. I declined. Confused. I thought it might lead to an embarrassing indiscretion Grin....

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2014 18:50

Oh Rose, that's really interesting - one of my colleagues has told me to do the same with the decongestants and Valsalver! I have been taking Sudafed and doing the V, but I need to get a nasal one too obviously!

Those massage chairs are great, actually!

MollyAir · 10/10/2014 18:53

Rosebag, Tilly, I have something similar - sinus/ears - horrible; and connected to allergies. It affects my mood quite disproportionately. Maybe we can shout at one another in a corner. Or at least exchange further tips.

NUFC69 · 10/10/2014 18:55

Oh, Rose, that did make me laugh. They don't offer that at my salon! I had my six week trim yesterday and my fringe at last appears to be growing out.

BTM, the ear problem sounds nasty; I hope Rose's advice helps.

Off to exotic places tomorrow - gp's surgery along with other Crepeys and Wrinklies for our flu jabs. It's like waiting in line in a school canteen! (Probably more rest room breaks, though).

lalsy · 10/10/2014 20:09

Oooh crepeys, I don't get the ear thing but I have got aching ribs today because I sneezed so often, so vigorously and so, ahem, productively on Wednesday. Think it was several hundred times.....aren't you all looking forward to meeting me tomorrow! Grin

NU, nurses secretly compete on how many flu jabs they can do in an hour...

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2014 20:34

God we are a right crepey bunch, aren't we?!

hattymattie · 10/10/2014 21:00

Grin I think I'm going to get a flu jab as I haven't been ill like that for so long I feel as if I'm on borrowed time. I may also do my remaining two DC's.

I feel like an old lady after gym. New intense teacher has made every bone ache.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/10/2014 21:04

HagsRus!

The funeral went as well as can be expected, with my mother complaining about everything from the music and hymns to the flowers, the programme, the photos, the food and the wine (although she drank enough of the wine). I was doing OK until I saw my cousin howling, and my other cousin said she was going to "pop along and see Dad" (whom we buried the other week) before she left the cemetery.

Met lots of relatives I didn't know I had, including a contingent from Norway. Confused

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/10/2014 21:06

More amusingly, George Clooney has bought a house in the village where I grew up. I hope he is downwind when they are muckspreading, is all I can say.

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2014 22:04

Glad it went well, MrsS. And that your DM didn't disappointWink

We have a houseful of teens (DD and her two mates plus DS and his) all eating donuts and God knows what else in the loft after another drama at school.

cremolafoam · 10/10/2014 22:25

Mrs S I am glad the funeral passed without incident and that you mother was on form.
Rose, BTM Molly how have I lived for so long and not come across this complaint ? You poor things. Sounds really sore . I have a few allergies too but it's always affected my skin.

Have had the results of my MRI . I have managed to befuddle everyone until now( one thinks of Spike Milligan saying ' I told you I was sick ')
So turns out I have not one but two( 2 II ) protruding discs. One at the top of the vertebrae and another lower down. So the nerves are boing pressed in two places. This could have happened at the same time or at different times. So every time I move one of the discs is pressing on a nerve. This is why the sadist couldn't understand why I couldn't achieve any relief by moving off the nerve. Every time I do that I'm irritating the other one.
I've been referred to a surgeon and the pain clinic .
The gp actually said she was sorry.
It has been suggested I avoid air travel . I am ignoring this as discussed.Confused

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/10/2014 22:45

It's a short flight, Crem. Grin And you will be near St Thomas's.

cremolafoam · 10/10/2014 22:50

Positive thinking mrs S
Is it cold in londres?
It's Baltic here. I wore a proper winter coat today, with padding. Brrr

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/10/2014 23:11

No, it is quite mild. It is 14 degrees at the moment, according to the man on the Air Ministry Roof. Grin It is supposed to rain tomorrow, so Sad Crepey Raincoat may be required.

herbaceous · 10/10/2014 23:36

In a way Crem I'm glad there's something, or two things, so definitely wrong with you that you can wave in people's faces. Take that, doubting (St) Thomases.

I find it endlessly vexing that the hospital of that name insists on not using the second 's'. St Thomas', it insists. I have a good mind to go and put another s up there, at great risk to life and limb. Maybe Lynne Truss would join me.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/10/2014 23:51

You can sit on my shoulders, Herbs, I will give you a bunk up with the "S".

Rosebag · 11/10/2014 14:21

Oh we're back on again....
crem at last a proper diagnosis. I do hope they can help you now.
These posts have also reminded me to get my flu jab sorted out.
molly'I agree re eustacian tibe dysfunction affecting the mood. I remember being at a wedding 2 summers ago,and after a whole day of not being being able to hear, horrible echoing, tinnitus exacerbated by the cocktail party effect of the noise in the room, I locked myself in the bathroom and cried. Last year I finally saw an allergy specialist ( chest physician with specialist interest in allergy) who changed my hay fever meds and was really good. Seems to have cured my chronic rhinitis which in turn has kept ear problems at bay. I still live in fear of my next cold though. Crepeys indeed.
What time should I pitch up tonight ?

Rosebag · 11/10/2014 14:22

TUbe...
