OP posts:
hattymattie · 21/10/2014 19:27

I like Gunpowder, Treason and Crepes MI - makes us sound cool and rebelliousWink

beachyhead · 21/10/2014 20:17

Vinyl is perfectly acceptable, especially if you go up the range a bit. They are a lot less hassle to fit than tiles as well. We've got one which is very good fake wood!

Rosebag · 21/10/2014 20:24

I am at choir. It is five mins to go. I am the only one here. Ohh here comes maestro the terrible .....

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2014 20:48

Yes, we have Karndean wood-effect in our kitchen and I love it! When you said vinyl, I was thinking of a 60's/70's design!

There is something very strange going on with this thread on my computer - it's not loading up properly at allConfused

lalsy · 21/10/2014 20:49

I can never go up the range - they take one look at me and show me the bargains!

I always hated fancy dress too.

lalsy · 21/10/2014 20:52

I don't know what I am thinking of. I liked a silver dotty one (from a place near you I think MI) - maybe that is 70s? Our bathroom floor is tiny and most places aren't interested.

motherinferior · 21/10/2014 21:10

Loading weirdly for me too.

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2014 21:23

Silver dotty sounds very funky and not at all 70's Lalsy!

We now have to leave my DM's at lunchtime on Tues next week (we won't arrive there before 9pm on Sunday night because DS has a match that morning in Herne Bay FFS) as DS has a trial match in Stevenage that afternoon. DH was trying to sell Stevenage as a shopping destination to DD. Have any of you ever been to Stevenage?

herbaceous · 21/10/2014 21:25

I used to live near Stevenage! Did my driving lessons there. The town centre is modelled on Rotterdam, apparently.

It's a long time since I was there, but I wouldn't have called it a shopping destination, despite loving it in my teens - a Woolies, Boots, C&A, Littlewoods, Chelsea Girl, Richards Shops... all the greats.

herbaceous · 21/10/2014 21:27

Oooh, this Westgate mall is new. It has a Blue Inc, and a River Island. Hmm....

bigTillyMint · 21/10/2014 21:31

Chelsea Girl would have been perfect for DDGrin

lalsy · 21/10/2014 21:49

I remember Chelsea Girl Grin.

Could you and dd get the hell out go on home by train BTM?

CointreauVersial · 21/10/2014 22:39

Lalsy - Karndean is lovely - we are having this for our new bathroom - but it goes down in pieces rather than in a sheet, and is much more expensive to lay. But there are nice sheet vinyls too. Rubber flooring is the trendy choice.

BTM - I have only ever been to Stevenage for social reasons, as one of our friends lived there for years. Can't say I noticed the shops.

lalsy · 21/10/2014 23:13

Thanks everyone, that's really helpful.

NUFC69 · 22/10/2014 07:56

Lalsy, we put an expensive vinyl down in our shower very about three years ago it's lovely but I am not happy with how it is wearing round the toilet where, of course, I wash it more often. Blush

Off to rural Leicestershire this morning to stay with a widowed friend - we're calling in to see DH's DB on the way. DB is under investigation at hospital because he had blood in his urine. Shock We'll be back at the weekend. DFr does have wifi but doesn't know her password so not sure if I will be able to log on. Weather forecast not so good but I am sure that won't stop us enjoying ourselves - DFr is a very good cook!

Rosebag · 22/10/2014 08:50

Stevenage? Have been on the station platform many times over the years waiting for a connection north. ( I can get there on a local train very quickly and it saves going into kings cross...) never been out of the station though. I don't think the shops can be amazing. Weekends are well known at a favourite North London mall, frequented by myself, as being mobbed by the Stevenage crowd....
The last fancy dress we went to was a Beatles party a few years ago complete with tribute band. I had a "Cilla" dress which I got from H&M, boots and false eye lashes. DH had a long hair wig and John Lennon glasses. What's the matter with you lot..I love fancy dress!
Weird kinda day ahead...waiting on lots of things to be confirmed. Birthday supper tonight for two close friends at sushi restaurant. Bit worried. Did I mention that I'm a real sushi virgin.... Blush

bigTillyMint · 22/10/2014 09:06

Rose, sushi is yummy! Even DS loves it and can make it, after a fashion!

You lot are not selling Stevenage to meGrin

Blackduck · 22/10/2014 09:09

Checking in

lalsy · 22/10/2014 09:14

You are all so kind to be interested in my bathroom floor. As far as I can tell, the problem is it is so small and fiddly that nowhere that stocks expensive stuff is interested (and I can't buy it and find someone to lay it as have no idea what horrors are underneath). Whereas the cheap quick vinyl bloke isn't bothered. dh unwisely took some leave this week so will get him to do a bit more research....

motherinferior · 22/10/2014 09:15

Have small piece in Graun Grin

I shall search, MI.

BTW, childish idea for a thread title: Crepeys let one off.

herbaceous · 22/10/2014 09:42

Found your piece, MI. Vair good.

hattymattie · 22/10/2014 09:48

Can I have a link to MI's article as stuck in deepest France (well Paris) so Guardian not immediately accessible.

Sushi is growing on me but is not my favourite thing in the world and I mainly like it in summer. DD1 hates it and DS loves it - we have the full range of opinions here.

Rosebag · 22/10/2014 09:51
