Ah ladies....if anything good came out if the unholy mess that cancer wreaks on families it's being able to support others going through it. Even just with a reassuring word or two. MI my DM has always treated DDad like a baby and then got angry with him about it. Like you say, co dependency. And yes, she tells him what and how to eat...even when he wasn't demented.
hatty is there any other kind of Maths test? Poor Dd.
I am now in a tea room eating my body weight in cream tea, having done my usual walk to the seafront on arrival which is becoming somewhat of a ritual. DH will be at the theatre whilst the kids are in a rehearsal wrestling with the momentous decision of them all having supper there, in the bar restaurant, or checking the freezer for easy open packets. Poor bugger. Life is cruel. Grin Grin

wilbur · 09/10/2014 16:06

Cream tea Envy.

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2014 16:48

Zactly Wilbur! Envy

Just got utterly soaked in a tempest that blew through the playground at pick up time. Despite being in a 'water resistant' coat. That coat can just sod right off. It looks all sensible, yet doesn't walk the walk. It's going on ebay. I've found a lovely substitute on Brand Alley. Even though I'm not supposed to be spending any money. But I have to be dry on the school run, right?

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2014 16:52

Right. And FASHIONABLE. And do you have a school run dress?!

lalsy · 09/10/2014 17:43

MI, I am sorry. And about the bloke's communication skills - why do people like that go into such jobs? I agree with Rose's wise words too.

And MrsS, your family has been through it recently, I hope today went smoothly.

I may be able to make it a bit early on Saturday too!

Herbs, I made a bit of a pratt of myself recently. Found a coat I really liked in Monsoon, asked if it was waterproof, assistant said "ooh yes" and then under my steely gaze said, "well it is waterproof but not sort of hiking waterproof". So I went outside and googled the description on the website which said water-resistant and went back in and showed her and explained the difference in some detail. Blush

herbaceous · 09/10/2014 18:10

Sadly, I've realised I have another perfectly adequate waterproof coat. It's too big, and rather 'hiking', but perhaps I should make do. Or put both on eBay and buy a new one with the proceeds...

MI - so sorry about you and your mum's trials. And the silly tosspot you have as a doctor. I second the props for Rose's wise words - your dad may rally and man up. But even if he doesn't, as QQ said you don't have to like it.

hattymattie · 09/10/2014 18:46

Rose - McDonalds and cream tea - all in the same dayShockWink.

I reckon there are Dr House and Dr Carter type doc's out there. I hope the mean one is at least as brilliant as House to compensate for his shortcomings in the empathy area.

I went to Paris expecting torrential rain and dressed for it and the clouds disappeared, the sun came out and the temperature rose so I was too hot and overdressed. I don't know how everybody else managed to be in little trendy jackets. It looked very ominous when I left the house.

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2014 20:16

Lalsy, well done!

Herbs, ebay sounds the perfect solution.

Survived the Y11 presentation. Gulp!
Addle, were you there?

Blackduck · 09/10/2014 20:26

Here the week of crap continues unabated. I will lose a team member as they are doing a reorganisation, and of course have not consulted a single person at any level who is involved in the area Angry
Re opened convo about resigning with dp..... Stress in neck increased....

Sorry to MI, MrsS and others dealing with crap

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2014 20:43

Oh dear BD. Hopefully copious amounts of alcohol on Sat night will help us drown your sorrows!

OMG! I can't believe I just asked the family what they want for Christmas dinner - I opened a thread and it just popped outBlush It is only October!
Anyway, it seems that they "don't mind" but if it's anything other than turkey there will be a riot

addle · 09/10/2014 22:02

Hello everyone, very sorry for all sorts of reasons that I won't be able to make it on Saturday. My dad is not at all well. Hope you all have a fabulous time. x

motherinferior · 09/10/2014 22:03

Oh Addle. Hope you're as OK as possible.

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2014 22:04

So sorry to hear that addle. Take care.

NUFC69 · 09/10/2014 22:19

So sorry to hear about everyone's trials and tribulations - life sounds pretty awful for some Crepeys.

We have been to the dentist and I discussed what to do about the missing teeth at the back - depressing stuff, really. It looks as if it is going to cost me £675 to be made presentable again. Not a vast sum, but I would rather be spending it on something else.

DS has pulled out of buying the bat infested house which is probably for the best. The problems with doing the building work were just endless and he would probably have needed a very well padded cheque book.

BTM, I am a turkey lover, too. I think this year we might be going to DD's as her DH offered to do the Christmas meal. Bliss!

CointreauVersial · 09/10/2014 22:33

Rose - you are indeed a Wise Woman.

Three things troubled me today - firstly, that thunder and lightning this afternoon. WTF?! Secondly, my Tesco delivery was three hours late. There was no coleslaw for tea, then all the guy did when he turned up was moan about his problems. Thirdly, I appear to be coming down with a cold. Angry Angry

Rosebag · 09/10/2014 23:02

Wise? Maybe....except where stuffing my face is concerned, it seems. Grin
Sleep well, crepeys !

hattymattie · 10/10/2014 07:08

NU did you see there's a thread on missing teeth - in Chat I think.

Addle - sorry to hear about your DadSad and that you'll be missing the meet up.

LalsyGrin at correcting cheeky shop assistant. I find that I'm at that grumpy old woman stage where I will not stand cheeky girls!

cremolafoam · 10/10/2014 08:05

Ooh I get to say
'See you all tomorrow" this morning, which is making me smile.

Addle very sorry about your poor dad. Take care lovely. Will miss you.

CV do I bring the Ugly Raincoat if Mirthlessness or the Nice Coat and brolly. As always, having a minor packing meltdown.......

Never mind the lightening, wtf with UKIP? Confused

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2014 08:25

Bring the Nice Coat and brollySmile

Clacton is key UKIP land - not really surprised.

Apparently MN will be off tomorrow morningShock

NUFC69 · 10/10/2014 08:45

Hatty, I will have a look for it, thanks.

Woe is me, BTM, - how on earth will I keep up with the MU?

We seem to have missed all the torrential rain and tornadoes; I didn't even know about it until I saw photos in the newspaper. It's actually quite pleasant here, although it doesn't get above 10 (ten, X) degrees atm. I am going to go swimming at lunchtime as I figure I need some exercise.

I hope today is better for all troubled Crepeys. You can only take each day as it comes when it's like this. Flowers to you all.

Crem, safe journey to London. You deserve a lovely break with friends.

cremolafoam · 10/10/2014 08:50

Thanks BTm I like your decisiveness.
I still have your mobile number, so can txt you when I get into town.
Hope to be at The Mulberry Earlier than 7pm, but not promising as getting across London, picking up key for friends flat, returning to Central London may take up more time than expected.Smile

We are booked into the upstairs room from 7pm and the food is scheduled to appear about 8pm, by which time , hopefully, we will all have a drink in our hands.

motherinferior · 10/10/2014 09:20

Could someone with a better grasp on reality than me ping me the address of the Mulberry?

hattymattie · 10/10/2014 09:37

TornadoesShock - obviously out of date here - it's a beautiful day in Paris and normally we have the same sort of weather as London.

cremolafoam · 10/10/2014 10:19

Pmed you MI Smile
