If you are 40 something, do you wear denim mini skirts?

Just bought one because I have always had a short denim skirt for winter with tights. Bought it online and this one is a bit mini-er than I was planning (mid thigh rather than just an inch above the knee) and I'm not sure I can get away with it. If I was 25 then maybe but I'm 41. Will everyone think I'm mutton dressed as lamb? My legs are ok but not super toned and I'm short (5'2").

Does anyone else wear mini skirts in their 40s?

Nothing at all wrong with a short denim skirt especially with opaques and boots!!! I am 46 yes OMG 46!! and i wear ones that are A-line [ very flattering on a size 12 pear shape] The shortest i have is about 18 inches which is not really mini and i think it looks fine. I wouldnt go shorter though as i would feel uncomfortable in it personally. Im 5ft 5 so average in height. My legs are ok.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2014 22:09

Sophisticated. I couldn't be sophisticated if I tried, so don't even try! I don't want to be sophisticated - it smacks of camel coats and honeyed highlights and facials and a touch of lipgloss and I am so not that kind of person.

nipersvest · 22/09/2014 22:14

i am 44 and wear denim mini skirts. not with bare legs, in autumn/winter with tights and boots.

leedy · 22/09/2014 22:18

I am a total fail at sophistication. Then again, I still play synths in a really noisy band, which is probably age-inappropriate in and of itself.

Floisme · 22/09/2014 22:23

Twinkelstein do you mean unsophisticated is not your own personal style (which is fair enough) or that you disapprove of it?

Twinklestein · 22/09/2014 22:26

I must admit Remus has me pretty much spot on...

I have suede mini nobby and it's fab. Nothing wrong with suede.

TheBuskersDog · 22/09/2014 22:27

I wouldn't take notes on sophistication from a Two Pints viewer. Hmm

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2014 22:28

Aha - my spidey senses are clearly well honed tonight! Grin

Twinklestein · 22/09/2014 22:28

Flo I don't give a bugger what anyone else wears, I disapprove of it for me.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2014 22:28

But I have no idea what Two Pints is.

Twinklestein · 22/09/2014 22:31

Two Pints is ace.

Twinklestein · 22/09/2014 22:32

Two Pints of Lager and Packet of Crisps.

BettyMoody · 22/09/2014 22:35

i dont like them any more and I have concluded its age for me, and they look a bit grubby
dont like opaques/leggings with them

I just don't think they are chic.
I do have a couple of white ones I wear in the summer

Momagain1 · 22/09/2014 22:39

Ok. Some think it is wrong because it is too young. Others because it is too dated. Or something you only see on people who dont know it is outdated. Some think is is too casual and/or unsophisticated, others that it is too dressy.

Jeezus

Fabulassie · 22/09/2014 22:43

I have to admit that I'm not crazy about denim miniskirts. I have one, somewhere (it's a bit stretchy) but I haven't seen it in a while. I prefer to wear black knit with some spandex in them so they are form-fitting. I don't care if someone else my age wouldn't.

noddyholder · 22/09/2014 22:48

Grubby? Very few people achieve chic I don't think it's what you wear but how you wear it

ThisBitchIsResting · 22/09/2014 23:07

Lol at 'not chic' - whenever anyone says chic it makes me imagine Mark Francis from MiC Grin what would he say to denim minis, that's the real question.

Floisme · 22/09/2014 23:17

Fair enough, Twinkelstein. If you like sophisticated then I can see it's probably not the look for you!

Floisme · 22/09/2014 23:19

Chic always makes me think of Le Freak. But then I am way old.

Twinklestein · 22/09/2014 23:26

Find a spot
Out on the floor...

noddyholder · 22/09/2014 23:36

God yes chic is a band. Mark Francis hilarious

BettyMoody · 23/09/2014 06:18

Woah. The chic word has riled

peasandlove · 23/09/2014 06:28

I wear one in summer. It's way shorter than that one. I wear with a pair of sandals. I am very tall and slim though [Wink]

BettyMoody · 23/09/2014 06:34

the thing is, I loved them for years. then POOF, gone, Caught a glimpse of myself and thought 'woah, not any more'

GobblersKnob · 23/09/2014 06:41

I wear them summer and winter, proper minis though 6-8 inches above my knee, I wear denim shorts the same way. I don't give a fuck.
