Steam Cream in Tesco

Justgotosleepnow · 28/08/2014 21:32

Hi I read about Steam Cream on here a few months ago. But I didn't buy from the internet as didn't want to pay shipping on another face/hand cream.

Well I saw it today in Tesco! £9.99 & lovely tin designs.

What's more lovely though is the fact how good it is! I have awful ezxema on my hands and behind my ears and it is loads better now after applying the cream this evening.

All the ingredients are well proper. And interestingly the first one (ie largest volume) is oats. Which is the active thing in Aveeno. But it's 8th on the list on Aveeno, after silicone.

I'm really hoping this stuff keeps working!
Thanks again mumsnet GrinThanks

I'm tempted to try some, my skin is a bit dried out atm.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2014 23:10

I've been tempted by Steam Cream in Tescos too (and I love some of the tins) but...............and this is a huge no for me.......it smells very lavender-ey.
Sad

Just had a look at their website and I'm really impressed with the ingredients list breakdown on there. Each ingredient is listed and has a detailed explanation of what it is. Wish all companies would do that.

I like the look of it. Wondering if it'll help my friend's teenage dd with her eczema.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 29/08/2014 10:14

I don't like the cream very much, it's very thin but the tins are cool!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2014 10:30

I tried this in John Lewis yesterday. The tins caught my eye first and then I remembered that various MNers rave about it.

My verdict = it felt nice on my hands but it smells awful. Dp refused to go near me until I'd washed my hands.

Justgotosleepnow · 29/08/2014 11:03

Ha yes it does smell of lavender. But if your other option is cracked and bleedy hands I'll take the lavender thanks! Wink
It lasted all night too, I woke up and hands were still moisturised- all the other creams have gone by the morning. Very impressed!

I love the smell of lavender. It's a marmite thing really isn't it? Going to try it and use at night.

ditavonteesed · 29/08/2014 11:30

I love steam cream, it is a very similar mix to the ingredients in lush dream cream which we use for dd's excema.

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 29/08/2014 12:31

I like SC as a general all-purpose workhorse. The brand is affiliated with Lush, which might explain similarity to Dream Cream.

squigglecat · 29/08/2014 12:35

I love love love love love steam cream, and use it on my childs excema- hubbie also suffers from psoriasis and uses it too- oat based creams like steam cream or aveeno have always worked for their skin conditions but my family prefer steam ccream. We absolutely love the stuff and cant get enough of it!

They always seem to have offers on their website with certain designs 2 for £20 which is good as I don't really care what design I get- I just want the beautiful cream! Seriously couldn't be without the stuff!

BuzzardBird · 29/08/2014 12:38

I must have been in a cave, I have never heard of this wonder product...off to Google :)

BuzzardBird · 29/08/2014 12:39

Tis £4.50 on Direct Cosmetics! Shock

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/08/2014 13:55

Has it got parabens?I was googling late last night and seem to remember reading it did....

Off to look at cosmetics direct!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/08/2014 14:02

Or Direct Cosmetics even!Grin

Is that a real site, anyone ordered from them before?

BuzzardBird · 29/08/2014 14:10

I haven't but there are loads of good products on it that I am considering just to make the £2 delivery fee worth it. It came up as a top search when I googled steamcream so must be quite popular?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/08/2014 14:25

I'll give it a go. I usually order from all beauty but it's a tenner on there!

Coumarin · 29/08/2014 16:02

Dame couple of parabens last on the ingredients list.

Does it smell like dream cream? I never liked that smell. Unlike cosmetic lad which I could eat.

Coumarin · 29/08/2014 16:03

I haven't eaten it btw. Just to clarify...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/08/2014 16:16

I'm not against a few parabens tbh but it cheeses me off when they peddle something as natural but it contains parabens Hmm I've ordered some anyway thoughGrin

Also ordered a few other bits!

ditavonteesed · 29/08/2014 16:55

it does smell like dream cream, quite lavendary

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2014 17:03

I actually don't mind lavender, but I thought the cream smelled more of petrol than it did of lavender.

Madaboutthrows · 29/08/2014 18:35

I had some in a ppq designed tin.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 29/08/2014 18:37

I think it's a stronger smell than Dream Cream, but I like both.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/08/2014 18:48

Pedal not peddle (Confused ?)

I liked lavender so I'll like it!

Coumarin · 29/08/2014 19:01

Lavender is good, petrol...not so much. I'm going to have to have a sniff before I buy.

Wondering what the chances of our local Tesco stocking it is.
