Steam Cream in Tesco

Hi I read about Steam Cream on here a few months ago. But I didn't buy from the internet as didn't want to pay shipping on another face/hand cream.

Well I saw it today in Tesco! £9.99 & lovely tin designs.

What's more lovely though is the fact how good it is! I have awful ezxema on my hands and behind my ears and it is loads better now after applying the cream this evening.

All the ingredients are well proper. And interestingly the first one (ie largest volume) is oats. Which is the active thing in Aveeno. But it's 8th on the list on Aveeno, after silicone.

I'm really hoping this stuff keeps working!
Thanks again mumsnet GrinThanks

I cant say I ever thought it smelt like petrol, maybe you got an off one, you didn't get it cheap from the garage did you?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2014 20:23

It was in John Lewis - lots of them. And they all smelled of petrol crossed with old ladies. Not nice.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2014 20:23

A shame, as it did feel lovely.

TaraRhode · 29/08/2014 20:38

I searched on Tesco Ireland for it and it brought up stem ginger ice creams. Easy mistake to make...

Justgotosleepnow · 29/08/2014 21:16

Yes it does have parabens in it. But it's the last 2 ingredients. So going to be very very small quantities. And it's quite goopy cream so there must be lots of water in it. Water = goes off quickly. So they do need some preservatives. And it's only ok for 6months, so that's not long either.
So it's ok in my book!

It stinks and gave me a rash.
Very disappointed here Sad

CointreauVersial · 29/08/2014 22:15

Never heard of it, but worth a try, as I love lavender and have eczema on my hands constantly.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/09/2014 13:03

Mine arrived today, let's just say I am very pleased I didn't pay more than 4.50 for it as it smells revolting-lavender and petrol sums it up perfectly!

Very pleased with Direct Cosmetics, will order from them again for sureSmile

BuzzardBird · 04/09/2014 13:35

Oh dear, don't think I will bother then Dame :(

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/09/2014 14:00

I think it's even at bit pricey at 4.50 tbh, it had the most weird smell and I love lavender normally!

BuzzardBird · 04/09/2014 14:05

Glad the company I suggested worked out to be good though. Blush

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/09/2014 14:07

Well I actually put in quite a big order, very pleased!Blush Grin

minkah · 04/09/2014 14:07

shia that stuff looks great! Thankyou. Excellent ingredients, pretty tins.

BuzzardBird · 04/09/2014 14:08

Ooo, what else did you order (nosey)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/09/2014 14:09

I was a bit disappointed by the tin as well, I'll shut up now!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/09/2014 14:19

I ordered Tigi hair shampoo and conditioner,a blackhead remover tool for dsGrin and some foundation as well as the steam cream!

HellonHeels · 04/09/2014 14:37

I didn't like its smell and suspected it would give me a reaction. Tested some on my hands and it stung like fuck. No way I'd put that on my face. Or anywhere. Shame because the tins are pretty.

Justgotosleepnow · 04/09/2014 16:20

No way! I can't believe people are having such problems with it. Horses for courses eh
A week later and my eczema has never been better Grin

Just-doesn't the smell bother you? It smells revolting by any stretch of the imagination. Musty lavender at best, petrol at worst. I wonder if some go off in the tins so they smell bad?

HopefulHamster · 05/09/2014 09:48

I have sensitive skin and I use it as a night-time moisturiser on my face! I love it and like the smell too. I think it's made by the people who do Lush maybe? Which would explain the similarity to dream cream.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/09/2014 10:04

Urgh there's no way I could wear it on my face the smell would bother me so much. I might email then actually, I'm sure there must be a problem with it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/09/2014 10:14

I keep mine in my swimming bag and use it on face and hands (body if I've got time), my post-swim dry tight skin drinks it up and the smell doesn't linger at all. Mine does smell just of lavender.

CecyHall · 05/09/2014 10:22

Mine smells of lavender, not musty or petrolly at all.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/09/2014 10:34

I'm email them and update when I have a replySmile
