Just wondering - what is "ED"?

lalsy · 26/08/2014 22:11

NU, mmm, some thinking will be needed but you sound wonderfully calm and supportive.

I need a drink. Two trips to IKEA in two days, managed to unearth every glitch in their system, on first name terms with many staff there now. Got home to contradictory and confusing emails from dd's university-to-be about her module choices (we knew this would happen - had a nightmare applying as every website was riddled with errors/contradictions - she is doing joint honours). She has very little time to sort stuff out as is volunteering a lot, reading lists just arrived, nothing ready apart from a teapot and small quilt. Not sure dd would know what to do with a clothes drier - such a reassuring suggestion, Crem Smile. Gin calling. Enjoy the meetup, dear crepeys.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/08/2014 22:11

Can you PM me where the French House is? Mr Google only comes up with central/west London and Australia.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/08/2014 22:12

And the bus route - if it is anywhere near a number 12 bus stop, that would be very helpful.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 26/08/2014 22:15

I will work the bus route out. It is on the 185 too.

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:15

Ah, NU, I see how you might then feel a little obliged under those circs.

MollyAir · 26/08/2014 22:16

Yes, that time is fine!

I'm staying out of uni prep this time. However this may be disastrous. Ds will probably turn up at uni with 4 pairs of pants and no t-shirts. (This is a dreadful calumny, please ignore it.)

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:18

Eh, Lalsy, if you need emergency Crepey support, I am only 50 mins away from your Dd's chosen destination. Pls feel free to drop in for a cuppa on your way to or from!

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:21

I still want to know what ED is..

lalsy · 26/08/2014 22:29

Stropps, what a lovely offer Smile.

I know what ED is but am I allowed to say it?

bigTillyMint · 26/08/2014 22:35

Stropps you dope, it's where I live! You have stayed here!

bigTillyMint · 26/08/2014 22:36

Have PM'd you MrsS!

MontserratCaballe · 26/08/2014 22:37

ED is East Dulwich, a particularly groovy part of the S London massive. A mere hop away from Dulwich village (its older, more traditional neighbour), Peckham (groovier neighbour) and Herne Hill (arty neighbour). Lots of fab bars and restaurants. I am really sorry not to be able to join you but hope I might make the next one. I am only a hop and a skip away (in a rather frumpy 'hood), but can travel Smile.

Hope the Uni preparations are going well.

I have work tomorrow and feel slightly Blush that I am more worried about fitting into my work trousers than the assessments I am conducting later in the day.

I hope I might get time to nip on tomorrow but if not, have a GORGEOUS evening and have a sherry (or should that be a pastis?) for me.

QueenQueenie · 26/08/2014 22:37

Psst. I think they mean East Dulwich Stropps.

Hey there Crepeys. Back from my sojourn in deepest Suffolk to a house in which the basement is still a building site rather than a kitchen and a distinct absence of hot water. other than that all is good.

Ds1's AS level results were fab so he is on the right track fingers crossed. Many congrats to all the dcs who have survived exams and come out the other side.

We had a fab few weeks doing nothing much... which I love. Lots of swimming in the sea and board games and cups of tea. I have simple tastes! On the other hand have very much enjoyed reading about and vicariously enjoying all the adventures the rest of you have been having! Respect to you all, especially Rosebag and BTM - most intrepid.

Need to catch up with you all properly. Enjoy the meet up tomorrow - can we have another sooooon so I can come?

Very pleased to hear that it is all shaping up for your dd to go off to uni as planned Crem. Fantastic news.

Sorry to hear about your Mum MI. Hope you have good news soon.

Love to all! QQ

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:37

Oh doh! Grin Grin

MontserratCaballe · 26/08/2014 22:38

Bum, I shouldn't have said that and revealed our inner S london-ness to the world. Sorry. I shall report myself post haste.

Sorry folks.

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:41

As someone who last lived in London in 1993, I find the idea of a groovy Peckham really quite amusing. Grin

MontserratCaballe · 26/08/2014 22:43

X post QQ - glad DS did so well. Medical school here he comes. Great news. Less great re kitchen. Hope your men make progress.

If others have mentioned the location of ED, shall I not report myself Confused? ED will be the Town which dare not speak its name. Of course, if I do need to, please do report my post and get it down Smile.

I'm off to my bed and my trouser angst. Sleep well.

MontserratCaballe · 26/08/2014 22:45

Stropps, it is really VERY different now. There is a bar on the top of a multi storey carpark with art exhibitions and lots of places with come and get you shops and cafes flogging babycinos for £2 a shot. I kid you not.

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:49

Oh, I know, Monty, I have had the pleasure of viewing New and Improved Peckham several times, but it still makes me larf anyway. I remember the years when I got around London on my bike at all hours and Peckham was def one of the places I followed the white lines down the middle of the road at top speed.

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:51

Although 2 smackers for a babycino does not constitute any kind of improvement. That is just 497 types of wrong.

Stropperella · 26/08/2014 22:54

QQ, very well done to your ds1!!! And commiserations on the basement shituation.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/08/2014 23:04

But... but... I have to venture into Zone Three!

Thanks for the directions, BTM. I will indeed do the O level bus swap (as a friend of mine used to call it when she moved to London) at Camberwell.

OP posts:
QueenQueenie · 26/08/2014 23:21

Surely no need for anyone to report anything. I very much doubt anyone reading our thread will be turning up in ED to stalk you all... name and shame you or take any particular interest... Nah.

QueenQueenie · 26/08/2014 23:22

Particularly if you are meeting in Zone 3....
