Can s and b exist without judging?

(It's about Another thread, yeah yeah whatever)

It's about skirts. People do like these skirts and. People don't like these skirts. All at once there was the criticism that this is a horrible thread.

Can you discuss fashion choices without some judging? Or would that lead to posts like 'well if you like it that's nice.' Which are nice but unhelpful if needing advice.

I was brought chicken and ham paste sandwiches after having dd and I nearly cried! They came back with toast and jam and I cheered up.

A bit of judginess or even goadiness can sometimes get a good discussion going. But if you're not careful, you can end up sounding like a trainee Joan Rivers. It's a fine line.

I think the thread was bound to get heated as someone put pics of herself in said item... kind of hard to be honest without upsetting people in that situation. Whereas I'm happy to say 'wtf' about those boots Wink because I have no clue what Tethers looks like. If I knew her if be nice about them, which negates the point of S and B - honest opinions. If we all stuck pics of ourselves up here we'd be complimenting the hell out of each other and bitching to ourselves instead

If I was brave enough to wear them I would wear them with an all black outfit. Black skirt, black top and black opaques. Yawn. Grin

The original thread is getting crosser :). Not very S&B. FWIW the lady who posted pics looks very cute in her skirt but I am not a fan of them generally. Then again I am light years from having to worry about wearing them :). I kept away from the summer scarf thread 'cos I love 'em and didn't want to spoil the fun of those having a good old bitch about them!

There was a botox thread a couple of weeks ago (might have been on aibu, not Style). I thought it was quite interesting and, from where I was sitting, pretty civil but every so often a poster would come along and tell us what a nasty thread it was. It's almost as if some people just don't like to see women disagreeing with each other. That said, this skater skirt poster disappeared pretty quickly so I suspect she wasn't really looking for a discussion.

I was on the summer scarf thread and didn't see any bitching in the slightest. I said I thought wearing scarves when it is hot is a bit daft which is totally valid imo!

Flip flops - search for the eyebrow thread.
I am sitting in a park know wearing a scarf and maxi dress - it's a huge floaty one that scrunched up but comes in handy when it's cold. Easier then packing/carrying a jacket or cardigan.

I like threads that attracts different opinions, and not just monotone one, I really appreciate someone who gives an honest opinion, and won't just say " ya it looks great go for it" and in reality it looks really shit,

That being said, I totally hate posters who think they are holier than thou and ruin all the fun, specially on handbag threads, this is S&B after all!

And Im clutching the hands of my follow smoked salmon lover linus Wink ,smoked salmon with cream cheese and sourdough bread,yum! its one of the things I miss most, the smoked salmon where we are at is not so good,

Can someone link the dishevelled thread? I don't think I've seen it,

Yy santamaria, honest opinions is what MN does well all over the boards. The problem is people take things as personal attacks. I am not my clothes, it's something separate. It's like when you criticicise a child's behaviour without criticising the actual child iyswim, no need to take it personally at all.

Dishevelled and summer scarf were on AIBU or Chat, I think? Yes dexter there were a few ageist posts on summer scarf but I couldn't be arsed to spoil the fun. S&B is generally more about the fashion so if people make it about themselves it kind of puts a damper on it and more importantly limits free expression about clothes :). If we can't speak freely about clothes, what are we? :).
