dress. Was classic/natural a j crew guess or kimono? Kinda like this as it's good for nipping waist but not sure how to style for winter(if I can!). think I can use a long cardi?!
mimia meandem look like they have a dark green called emerald but looks pine?. Boxy crew cardi there
Or did you check uniqlo? Or kettlewell? Sorry, had put links but just lost it all (on phone.) Sad.

fooogle · 16/09/2014 09:19

me&em one

QueenCardigan · 16/09/2014 09:48

Cardigan queen here Grin....the linea one is a lovely colour but as you say is very bright (I sent it back). I have the mango one and it's in the middle of dark emerald and pine green. I love it with a navy top but it's not very bright so for me as a sprinter I will need to add in a brighter belt/bag or jewellery.

I'd say jcrew is natural, classic and possibly gamine. But there's probably bits from there that work for everyone.

I meant J-Crew as classic/natural. I'm not sure about that dress Fooogle. It's a bit unstructured for me but I'm short - I think you need to be tall to carry it off, I'd look like I was wearing a dressing gown!

The Mango one looks lovely Nowhere. I agree the Boden one looks a bit bluey Mimia as does the Uniqlo green.

Stokey, I'm 5'11'' so hoping I can pull it off but goodness knows!

Seen some handy though mildly boring cardis from landsend. Have one in purple which has been worn lots over summer. I like a bit of cotton, cardi I seem to suit v necks better though am v flat chested so hope I am right as usually that's the solution for the more blessed amongst you?!

Hello everyone, fellow winter here, a bit of a lurker!
Can anyone kindly tell me where I might find some burgundy capri pants? I have bought the warehouse ice blue top linked to up thread and would love to put it together with some burgundy and do that ice blue / burgundy combo some of you were talking about! Flowers

mimiasovitch · 16/09/2014 18:09

I think I'll try that mango one. The Me and Em one is too boxy for me. I think the real problem is I love bright. Always have. Am realising darker is good on me though, as long as I wear lipstick. I shall channel my inner Lana Parilla. Thanks all.

pinkflaming0 · 16/09/2014 19:32

Folly I have burgundy cropped trousers from Gap. Maybe a little brown tinge to them but ok I think.

QueenCardigan · 16/09/2014 20:26

Did I tell you all that I did the no7 lipstick match the other day. I'm a deeply ivory and bough raspberry blush. V v similar to all the other pink lipsticks I own but I really like the texture so it's my new favourite.

mimi hope you like the mango one.

folly just came across these whilst looking for something else!

Welcome btw.

Thank you Queen - really good but unfortunately unavailable in my size!! will have a look in Gap, pinkflamingo

pinkflaming0 · 16/09/2014 22:41

Queen I was analysed today and got Deeply Ivory too but the four colours I tried were definitely wrong - all warm. Probably a good job as I don't really need any more lipsticks!

SorrelForbes · 17/09/2014 09:20

Queen Those trousers are great but sadly not available in my size either.

mimiasovitch · 17/09/2014 22:00

I don't think that I'm destined for a green cardi. The mango large is a size 12, and as I'm a 16 the rani good at all. I consoled myself with a new frock. A lovely royal blue jersey one from Betty Jackson at debenhams. In the sale so not on website, but im happy. That may be because of all the champagne though. 20 years married today, a teensy bit drunk and still playing mumsnet Grin. Apologies for typos. I need to close my eye snow.

Stokey · 18/09/2014 10:33

Congratulations Mimia Twenty years is definitely something to celebrate. And the royal blue dress sounds lovely.
Ours was on Tuesday but a mere seven years, we didn't do anything this year.

I'm on the look out for a winter coat. I saw this purple one in John Lewis which is a gorgeous colour but a bit expensive.

I also saw a really nice burgundy M&S one in a magazine advert the other day but can't find it online. The search continues.

mimiasovitch · 18/09/2014 15:21

Can anyone tell me if this is sufficiently wintery? I've been wanting this fabric for months, but am undecided whether or not the brownish scroll pattern will throw it off or not, and at £16 a metre I don't want to mess up.

GingerLemonTea · 18/09/2014 15:27

So out of interest, how far does your instinct for your colours go?

Once I had mine done I realised I had quite a lot of the colours in my wardrobe already.
My cars have been emerald green, silver, silver.
I prefer white walls to magnolia.

Discussed it with the consultant at the time & she said she did think it influenced other colour choices. Even my camera case/phone case/diary have tended to be winter colours (prior to consultation).

GingerLemonTea · 18/09/2014 15:30

Mimi, I don't think it fits in with the cool & clear aspects of being a winter in that it's slightly muted & maybe too much going on. I might be wrong though!

carrie74 · 18/09/2014 16:08

Mimi, not sure TBH, what would you be doing with the fabric?

Ginger I had a lot of the right colours already, and certainly the clothes that I was unsure about/never quite felt comfortable in, were usually the wrong colour. Funnily enough there is one dress which I'd say isn't particularly my style, but gets loads of compliments whenever I wear it - turns out it's down to colour. At home, I think I do tend to favour cooler colours (grey is definitely up there!). And cars: generally grey or navy. Red once, racing green once.

Lots of gorgeous grey and maroon things on 40YOBum today.

I managed to snag this, which I didn't buy in the summer, but uhmmed and ahhhed over. Finally managed to get one back in my size this morning, delivery tomorrow: www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Whistles+Ella+ponte+jersey+jacket/202582026,default,pd.html

mimiasovitch · 18/09/2014 16:13

I think you're probably right. I'd no doubt have bought it by now if I hadn't had some niggles. The instinct thing you mention has played its part. My consultant talked about how people tend to decorate in their colours. I definitely haven't. My rooms are all pale and neutral, with duck egg and taupe downstairs and almond and gold in the bedroom. I think its because I stand out in them more! I can be very 'Look at Meeeee', though I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it out loud. My kitchen walls are in light emerald, however, and I do adore it.

Stokey · 18/09/2014 16:17

Lovely jacket Carrie

Ummm my living room is totally un-wintery Ginger it's yellow and brown, a bit like a less chic version of this Grin. If I'm honest, I think it's just a rebellion against the various shades of grey everyone is into.

But I did own quite a few clothes that were "good" colours for me, mainly dark reds, cobalt, navy and charcoal. And I've always preferred silver to gold in jewellery.

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 18/09/2014 16:50

Hello Wintery Mners :-)

I lurk on this thread a little. I haven't had my colours done properly but I went to a free event a few years ago at an outlet village, hosted by HoC, where they did us all in a group, and I was diagnosed as a winter, but I didn't get much more detail about what flavour of winter or shades etc, I just know 'jewel colours' really and I learned that grey near my face was more flattering than black, I don't remember much more. My wardrobe is generally based around grey and black as neutrals, and purple and red as colours, I try to branch out into green sometimes. I'm not strict though and have loads of other colours and lots of multi things in there too. Everything tends to be dark/bright shades.

Anyway, the question I wanted to ask at the moment is, how do you guys wear white? I pretty much never wear white and think maybe I should branch out a little. Is it for top half only? Do you keep colour with it/ wear white near the face?

Also just thought I'd share coat [[http://www.joebrowns.co.uk/sp+elegantly-eye-catching-coat-purple-charcoal-12+lj216]] that I'm thinking of getting as I think it's lovely – that's an appropriate Winter shade right? Bit confusing as the model clearly hasn't got winter colouring, there are paler lilac areas but overall it's deep purple/charcoal?
