Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

Tallredhead- I was terrible when on maternity leave. I became a dab hand at feeding and shopping on the ipad at the same time.

shopalot · 29/07/2014 08:52

Yay greengardenpixie.......and the matching top xx

shopalot · 29/07/2014 08:53

The matching top can go back too Wink

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 09:04

It was only an inexpensive vest top and i have packaged the trousers up now. The vest is nice and i love the colour and it matches a couple of skirts and was only £15. The main order was the two crops which which came to £90 but i had no intention of keeping both anyway when i ordered just wanted the 'right' colour.

shopalot · 29/07/2014 09:09

Ok, if you honestly can't live without it......

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 09:11

Oh, i can live without it.....but i really cba opening up the packet now and i dont have that many vest tops that i like :)

autumnsmum · 29/07/2014 09:15

Hi can I join ? I need to remind myself that eBay is still money

CoconutAmericano · 29/07/2014 09:48

Well as usual i woke to the door bring pounded by dhl with my fab Cos jeans which meant dh knows I've been shopping. The deviousness that comes with trying to hide my spending from dh is awful. I do love the jeans tho! Wtf is wrong with me??!

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 09:54

Yes, my favourite are diesel jeans...they make my hips look so much slimmer!! [ i am a pear shape]

LightastheBreeze · 29/07/2014 09:58

The 2 swimsuits and tankini I ordered 30% off from Mark's are on their way, I will just keep the one which looks the best - I only need one - I don't swim that much.

i also must confess to ordering the Boden navy bowling bag for £55 but I do think it is probably one of my more useful purchases and will be suitable for all year round and its still July. .

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 14:31

Well...i havent technically bought anything but...
Did spend for all my kids school uniform although i had £30 worth of clubcard vouchers so used them and spent a further £20 of my own money on socks, pants gym shorts... etc.
Bought a rucksack for my dd as hers has a hole in it.
Bought two pinafore dresses from next for her - the ones with the shirt attached as they are very good.
A t-shirt for each of my ds and dd for gym from ebay.
The only thing left to buy for them for school is school shoes and stationery.
I havent bought anything for myself hurray!!!

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 14:32

Ohhh and i bought a seesaw that i was given the money for from my brother for the kids. Was going to buy it from argos and then so happened to be ordering the rucksack for my dd when i noticed that it was a bargain at only £16!!!! I was going to pay £33!!!

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 14:33

Oh a bargain from amazon of course!

TallRedhead · 29/07/2014 14:47

I just managed to return an item to Next and did not look at a thing in there. Phew.
But you know what. I just paid off my account which means that return means I'm in positive credit (is thst a thing?) which means I need to spend it no?
That also reminds me I'm in positive credit with Verbeudet too after returning an item. Clothes for the baby doesn't count right?

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 15:25

No..unless its the thing that you constantly spend on.

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 15:26

Yes, you will be in positive credit :)

VioletBrogues · 29/07/2014 15:32

Please can I join! I need a shopping free month (at least).

I have been borrowing box sets from friends to watch in the evenings as I know night time internet browsing is my Achilles heel.

I'm also going to ban myself from the style blogs - damn you DoesMyBumLook40InThis. You are responsible for far to much spending on my part!

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 15:38

Of course you can join :)

andsmile · 29/07/2014 15:43

There was a one year challenge thread about no spending on clothes - I feel off the wagon - I cant remember if any of you were on it or saw it.

I am buying more intentionally. Try reading a few minimalist blogs for inspiration - looks at your colour analysis, this has helped get rid of a few things for me that were just wrong and did not suit when looked at closely.

I still have found 2 pairs of linen trousers and two pairs of shorts unworn in their wrappers. I now have a whole collection of winter coats for every concievable situation/outfit - everything but that cap off the Scottish Widows advert Grin

It weighs me down. But I need to try an not buy anymore now Ive got my head around getting rid of them.

I have actually found space to put away a lot of clothes after decluttering wardrobe, storing winter clothes (alright Im a bit late to it!)

I no longer have a floorobe and can clean my bedroom now. Might even decorate it and put new bedding on at some point.

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 15:49

small steps for me..but you sound like you have done well :)
I went through my wardrobe yesterday and do like mostly everthing i have. Do i wear what i have...well i have worn most of it.
I do spend a lot on clothes and boots, most get worn but i just keep buying more and more and justify it by selling stuff on ebay..selling stuff i have for stuff i like better!!!

Apatite1 · 29/07/2014 17:26

Well done so far ladies. I'm happy to report my ongoing abstinence since I joined. I've vowed to report any slip ups on this thread so you are all keeping me on the straight and narrow. I nearly fell for another becksondergaard scarf though. And I have 7 already.

VioletBrogues · 29/07/2014 17:36

I will also report any slip-ups Apatite! Promise!
Nice idea

Karbea · 29/07/2014 18:20

Another NSD for me, wearing a dress that I got last summer today.

Laska42 · 29/07/2014 20:07

WOW isnt this thread busy? (im so glad we started it )..

The things are in back in the post.. I agonised for three days over returning the linen dresses , but this morning woke up full of resolve,, and you know what? ive not had a single pang that they are gone..

Today I had my hair cut (thats allowed) and am just going to go and re-dye it ..( always do it myself)

I also bought a 2nd hand playtentand tunnel from someone at work (£7)for when my DGS comes to stay

and ..a chicken! (to cook and eat that is!) .Smile

One thing i did notice lunchtime whilst idly looking at the mags in the breakout area at work is just how almost every page is adverts and how many articles are about fashion , style and beauty ..

People can I -suggest- we also refrain from magazines this month (to avoid temptation)? .. Newspapers obviously ok ( but dont buy the things in the fashion pages OK?)

Wow, this is completely fascinating! I am so glad that there are enough of us on here to support each other.

Laska a chunk of my wardrobe also reflects a weird glamorous fantasy life I must think I am leading whenever ordering clothes online. I am a SAHM who never goes out at night but if I was ever asked to go for dinner I would have loads of silky and sequinned clothes to wear (if I could just shift this baby weight). I don't get to wear it as I would most definitely get some strange stares at the school gate Grin

Like Bacon I would seriously love to test myself by trying to abstain for longer but will start with August.

Bad confession for you. I am so addicted that parcels have arrived and I have forgotten what I ordered Blush (I live outside of the UK so sometimes orders can take over 2 weeks to arrive). Does anyone else want to own up to something similar?!
