Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

Have been shopalot for ten years or so!!!!!!! Maybe I should change it to shopalotless Hmm

macandcheesewithbaconbits · 28/07/2014 22:50

My name is Mac and I have an online shopping problem. Addicted to online sales and discounts. Spend most of my lunch and Saturdays at the post office returning stuff. But keep the odd one or 2 bits.
Am in for august...just waiting on a sweaty Betty delivery and a bravissimo delivery...

PrimalLass · 28/07/2014 22:55

The Next navy leather jacket arrived (see other thread). It is truly lovely, but it is going back tomorrow. I am going to transfer £10 to a savings acc every time I lose a lb, and if I have enough money by Christmas I will order it again.

Today I am SENDING BACK two of the John Lewis linen dresses (keeping only one of the three i bought despite the other's fitting and being nice). Alsa a Boden Kaftan/dress bought inthe sale ( I have boden kaftan dresses enough) AND am also taking back to the shop the linen trousers I bought yesterday - they were creased so badly just being in th e bag i couldnt wear them to work (strange how some linenis worse that others for that ) .. But the bonus is that I found another cream pair inthe wardrobe that i can alter to fit again (and crop)

Laska bows ..waiting for applause!Smile

AnonyMust · 29/07/2014 08:09

I'm in (though detect an escape route through buying nice undies)!

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:11

Well done Laska :) (((applause)))
Well am returning also....
A pair of w.s. crops that were too tight across the tummy although i have kept a pair [ just a gorgeous colour] as i am on a diet and will fit into them no problem once i shed a bit of weight. Im on tablets and they increase my appetite so now need to lose 1/2 a stone :( So, aswell as having to cul my clothes habit i am also culling my food weep. I kept a w.s. vest top to match the lovely crops in a gorgeous 'crayon pink' love love love it!

I am returning all the next stuff that i ordered except:
One lacey pink tunic top [ from the sale]
One pack of bras
A pair of work trousers
A couple of metallic sparkly vests
And i bought my dh a pair of black jeans as his split!!! [ so that doesnt really count as not for me!]

AnonyMust · 29/07/2014 08:12

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:21

Oh and i have some toast to return [ not the food kind ha ha.. that would help my diet!!]
Hiddeous hiddeous awful cullottes [ no wonder they were only £10] although i might just try and flog them on ebay first. A pair of trousers...might just try to do the same with them!!! Far too tight!! Usually not a problem with toast. I find everything i buy from them generous!!! ..but these were ridiculous. Doubt i could fit them after shedding 1/2 stone so something not right there.
Oh and i sorted my wardrobe. You would be proud. Have all my gorgeous things colour coded now...well all the tops with skirts that are the same colour or match.
Plan for today is - ebay things
Unsubscribe to more
Sort junk out from my hall cupboard.
and i am ashamed to say that last night i got carried away again and i bought....[deep sigh]
A pair of jegging crops [deep double sigh ] and a top to match
WTF and i doing????????
Mind you, i know i will wear them ..but..did i need them???
NO!!!!!
Still July though but i need to end this....
Wasnt going to say but then thats the problem isnt it...
I need to be truthful, its half the battle...
Blush Blush Blush double Blush

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:25

Anonymust
Resisting the urge to internet browse on the Toast website for other hiddeously overpriced tat in the hope that i find the gem i have been looking for to make me look gorgeous slim and young again!

shopalot · 29/07/2014 08:28

Greengardenpixie- send the other trousers from white stuff back. If they don't fit you and you need to loose half a stone they need to go back. When you loose the half a stone so etching else will look better. Be strong!!??

shopalot · 29/07/2014 08:28

Something oh FFS

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:30

..oh and almost forgot that gem that will whisk me away to an exotic location where i will sip cocktails overlooking a moonlit bay as the breeze gently blows my hair change nappies, clean, cook and round around my kids all day

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:32

Yes you are right shopalot....think i just might do that...

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:37

The thing is though..i really like them. I could order the size bigger but i refuse to do that as it means i am accepting that extra 1/2 stone. Btw, i have always lost the weight with things i want to fit in with. Its the way i do it..its my motivation!
However, once returned, will i really miss them...
Will i even think about them....

ZaraW · 29/07/2014 08:37

Anyone read the book Why we Overshop and How to Stop ? Currently reading it but it asks some difficult questions. I shop when bored on stuff which gives me no enjoyment. Instead I am putting my clothes money on a holiday for next year.

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:39

You are right..going to parcel them up NOW!!

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:41

I am going to look that book up!!! Thanks for that zara.
For me, i think its a mixture. I was brought up with the attitude...if you are unhappy, buy something to cheer you up! I am bored and i am shop emotionally!!!

Sounds a bit of a lost cause.....

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:42

*and i shop emotionally

shopalot · 29/07/2014 08:44

I think the whole loosing weight to motivate yourself is tricky. In all honesty my "good" clothes which are well cut will look good half a stone lighter or heavier within reason. If you need to loose weight to wear them it begs the question as to whether they suit your body shape anyway....? Just a thought. I used to have lots of jeans for all different days-fat days, thin days and so on. I then spent a lot (for me) on some higher waisted james jeans and they look good (IMHO) whether I am fat or thin because they are the right cut for me. Have had them for two years and they still work really well.

shopalot · 29/07/2014 08:45

I am not advocating that you need that one perfect pair of jeans though........I am sure you already have a pair that feel good whatever!?

TallRedhead · 29/07/2014 08:46

Please can I join you?
On mat leave and stat pay starts next month and I'm addicted to Internet shopping!! Each email I get saying 10% off etc means I click the link and buy buy buy!!
I've unsubscribed from loads of clothes companies emails (and I mean loads!) and my Next purchases in this last sale will be my last for a while.
I think I found this thread just in time!

shopalot · 29/07/2014 08:47

I shop when I am bored. I shop to complete my almost perfectly complete wardrobe. Just one pair of boots will sort out my outfits forever or one scarf, or one coat and so it goes on.

Greengardenpixie · 29/07/2014 08:51

Yes, i think i do the same..and you are right..and i have packaged them up because i really dont need them and i do have pairs of jeans that i have lost weight, gained weight, lost and gained and still look good.
