Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

12 days in and I've bought a Joseph top (£100 down to £34 in sale). Also bought but returning a white stuff jumper with a melon on front which I bought in a fit of whimsy.
My big confession is some gorgeous but heinously expensive habitat bedding. Blush

I've sold 6 things on ebay though and have taken more pics to list

Greengardenpixie · 12/08/2014 22:28

Well been at work all day so have bought nothing...well except an planner for work which doesnt really count. Feeling pretty tired tonight. Have to parcel up some next stuff that im not keeping as the courier comes to take them tomorrow.
Well today was an inservice at school so i wore my old faithful bootcut diesel denims and a pair of clarks originals that i have had for years. On top i had a sparkly vest under a white stuff tee and my hearty cardigan from white stuff all in pale blue. I also had painted my nails in electric blue!!!

Greengardenpixie · 12/08/2014 22:30

Oh and i forgot, i wore my new toast dark denim coat :)

masterprocrastinator · 13/08/2014 08:01

Green garden your outfit sounds lovely - you are inspiring me to make time to paint my nails. Perfume is also good to make me feel good without more spending.

Laksa I found an old kaliko silk embroidered shift dress to donate to the charity shop in my 1 in1 out penance. Beautiful dress but too short when I sit down! The guilt over buying my new dress is helping me resist the boots though, even though footwear is more practical Hmm Staying accountable to all of you on here.

ZaraW · 13/08/2014 10:03

So far haven't bought anything. My new rule is to give it a week and if I still feel the same way about an item that I NEED I will look at buying it. 90% of the time I forget about the item in question. I'm on holiday in March and need cold weather boots. I have found some Sorel ones in the sale for 60% reduction. I will purchase this week. It's a need not a want so I don't feel guilty.

My weakness is online shopping when I get the urge I keep myself busy and have stopped looking at shopping web sites. I still struggle but happy with my progress so far.

I am looking at experiences rather than "stuff".

PeachandBlack · 13/08/2014 10:23

I haven't bought anything either. I'm glad I didn't buy anything for my impromptu holiday as it probably wouldn't have been the right thing. There is a big difference between the sort of thing I thought I needed and what I would have actually worn.

I have been browsing for inspiration for autumn but no temptation to buy anything yet.

Keep strong everyone.

CoconutAmericano · 13/08/2014 11:28

girls i had a cold hard reality check this morning. and it was just what i needed. ok so basically i spend all my money in cos. my wardrobe in at least 60% cos. anyway today i went in to return a pair of brand new unworn shoes. with my receipt. i bought them mid June so i was expecting a credit note rather than a refund which is fair enough. well the manager said no i can't even have that! it is sale stock and the sale is over! i was gob smacked. so there. that is it. reality check. i spend all my money in cos and get zero customer service in return. never again

Greengardenpixie · 13/08/2014 17:39

Oh Coconut...thats rubbish. It really annoys you when you spend so much in a shop and they refuse to 'give' a little. Will you be able to wear them?

Laska42 · 13/08/2014 20:08

yup rubbish.. i dont know much about trading standards , but i think that aftre 30days they dont hve to take stuff back anyway..

ok look.... you know those top shop shorts (thats were inthe Guardian all ages shoot.. lovely pattern fabric not quite what I expected, but hung quite nicely and look like a skirt .. £38 reduced to £20 when i bought them?)

Well.. it seems that they were reduced again to £12.... so i went and got them back from the shop to took them back to again Blush... (Laska runs)...

Got a jumper in a charity shop but it was only 3.00

Cucumberscarecrow · 14/08/2014 08:25

Coconut, the same happened me in Reiss about six years ago but only 14 days after I bought it. The manager said the return needed to be within 14 days and not on the 14th day. She actually got out her calendar and counted the days. This was pre-kids when I spent all my money on clothes and I loved Reiss and used to spend at least £500 on work clothes there every year. I have never darkened their door since.

I've since transferred my business (albeit that I spend much less on clothes these days) to Cos so am really disappointed to hear of your experience but am wondering what size the shoes are because I love every single item of clothing and accessories in Cos so please let me know if you are eBaying them so I can get in on the act.

I noticed Laska I noticed

I'm lusting after Autumn/Winter at the moment, not because I want to wear them now (it's nice here and I'm hot-flushing) but when the time comes, I'll have them tucked away . Smile

Did you get your shorts for £12 then?

Laska42 · 14/08/2014 14:00

BlushBlush
Yes I did!.. Bargain! Grin..
Lunchtime survived..

However no S&B someoen had pointed out some lovely grey clarks boots .. ,... dont have any grey boots.. Hmm Too expensive now though, and they are bound to have a discount offer sometime so will reconsider in Autumn..

Help! I'm cracking. I've identified the need for a pair of tapered leg/jogger style trousers in my wardrobe and now I can't get my mind off them. They would look soooo good with lots of things I already own, and I have identified a good few items that I will eBay come 1st Sept when everyone is returned from hols and buying for winter.....

Have I justified them enough? Or should I just hold out to the end of the month....I have not bought anything since 4th August (a whole 11 days, how sad is that....)

ZaraW · 15/08/2014 11:09

Stay strong, do you have to buy them now as they are reduced in the sale and only a few left? If you will be able to buy in September without any problems why not wait?

WillPenn · 15/08/2014 11:43

OK - I'll go and try some on and see. I won't buy unless they are perfect and cheap/last ones.....

CoconutAmericano · 15/08/2014 12:38

In Spain ladies. Have bought nothing!! muscat doesn't count
I have been mailing Cos back and forth. I had to take the matter further! I think my issue may be resolved. I have to ring the manager when i get back. Fingers crossed because i think they've been very unfair!!

Hopefully my willpower stays strong over the next few days! Stay strong ladies.

CoconutAmericano · 15/08/2014 12:38

Strikethrough fail Blush

CoconutAmericano · 15/08/2014 12:40

Greengardenpixie · 15/08/2014 13:42

Enjoy your holiday coconut!! Well i havent bought any clothes yesterday or today except a bag that i totally dont need but thought i could do with something soft and roomy for work.
Tbh, i have still been looking Blush but ive not really been seeing things that i want that much.

Greengardenpixie · 15/08/2014 13:45
