Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

I have failed in a spectacular manner!

masterprocrastinator · 02/08/2014 18:41

Oh Polly I have empathy, found myself in the Red Cross shop today and teetered on the brink with a Zara top - my only salvation, the colour drained me. Only the second day in Blush . So what broke your resolve??

Pollywallywinkles · 02/08/2014 18:57

I started before the beginning of August (doing it between pay days) so have done about a week.

Purposefully went to my favourite local boutique, just for a browse Confused

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 19:02

What did you buy? so i can be totally and utterly envious of you

Pollywallywinkles · 02/08/2014 19:06

A pair of flats to go with a black dress, a floral dress, dotty top and matching stripy skirt and a lightweight jacket! Dress up, or dress down items. That's me about sorted out for autumn Grin

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 19:14

Oh im jealous now!!!!
I resisted a lovely skirt out of anthropology's sale. In all fairness, not sure where i would wear it. It is silk and dry clean only..which is not that bad for a skirt but...i have young kids and sticky fingers to dodge!!

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 19:15

but OMG i got the toast catalogue today and i love their winter collection. I have a few things 'ear marked'.

Pollywallywinkles · 02/08/2014 19:17

I should clarify that I already had the black dress.

dexter73 · 02/08/2014 19:48

Lol 2nd August and people are posting what they have bought already!! I find that the problem with banning myself from doing something just makes me want to do it even more so I can sympathise!

autumnsmum · 02/08/2014 19:53

I've managed two days which is hardly heroic

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 19:55

me too :)

dexter73 · 02/08/2014 19:58

I thought you had bought a scarf?

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 19:58

..or you could do bright funky tights with them! ( and a midi ) I suppose!

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 19:59

Well yes, but its not technically clothes...well i dont wear mine as clothes. More of an accessory? Or am i stretching it a bit? i dont normally buy scarfs, they arent my 'thing' normally.

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 20:00

Day 2 done Smile

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 20:00

Sorry the previous post was meant to be on another thread!!!!

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 20:01

Although I'm feeling an urgent need for a black dress with leather trim for the autumn

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 20:11

does my scarf count then?????? :( Blush

dexter73 · 02/08/2014 20:32

Sorry I didn't mean to make you feel bad. If all you buy in a month is one scarf then that is bloody good imo.

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 20:39

Oh its ok Dexter!!! :) I felt bloody bad for buying it!

GobblersKnob · 02/08/2014 20:45

Oh dear.

Fell on the first day.

Wasn't going to 'fess up until I saw I was not alone Grin

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 20:46

What did you buy?

GobblersKnob · 02/08/2014 22:22

Bra and pant set (Cleo, both for £10) have just lost weight and gone down a size, so kind of justified.

A dress from Boden in an extra colour, as the one I have is insanely flattering, and I may not find another like it again (excuses, excuses).

That really is it though, no more [determined face]

I have been on spending wagons before, where there is a kind of leader board, a list is kept updated on the thread of usernames and date of last purchase, it's quite good for the competitive, trying to reach the top. Winner gets to start next month's thread, if there are lots of joint dates it can be sorted by size of spend, but people might not want to share, dunno, just an idea :)

andsmile · 02/08/2014 22:33

Nothing - Ive been in allday online Ive browsed paint pots and craft caddies and looked a few houses. But no clothes not one site.

Distraction

Pollywallywinkles · 02/08/2014 22:37

I have stopped looking at blogs, deleted or unsubscribed to email updates from various companies and I won't be buying anything else.
