Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

I have booked Crieff Hydro Grin

goodasitgets · 02/08/2014 00:10

I'm signing in for beauty products Blush

I just found a case (an actual case like the gift set ones) of soap and glory products. Brand new and unused Blush along with SEVEN of my favourite body scrubs all unopened

I am to buy nothing. I have two exceptions as I am going to run out - conditioner and eye makeup remover. I need nothing else

Day one here too. It was easy, I was so busy yesterday I only got a 5 min break anyway.
Went to an art exhibition opening last night and admired lots of very interesting jewellery...and I haven't googled any of it! :)

shopalot · 02/08/2014 09:00

Went to pick up a dress I had delivered to Hobbs yesterday.....thought it didn't count as had ordered and paid for it a week or two ago. I got to the desk and I asked them to return it straight away. It was hard as I had already tried on the dress (in the past) and knew it would be lovely but didn't want to "cheat". My husband was gob smacked when I told him Grin

I am also googling holidays with my time on the ipad (for next summer!!)

CoconutAmericano · 02/08/2014 09:08

Wow shopalot that is serious willpower and self control you're displaying there. You should be very proud! In that situation, I'm not so sure i could resist trying it on Envy

today I am returning two pairs of trousers. My bank balance is slowly recovering Smile

Drywhiteplease · 02/08/2014 09:15

Am wondering whether to return the bf denim shorts I bought in Gap 31/7/14.... Sure I can cut down one of my many pairs of jeans, but which pair Hmm?

andsmile · 02/08/2014 09:17

Holidays! shopalot Reason why i diverted yesterday after stupidly sat and browsed all the wrong sites because I am supposed to be focussing on mimimalising possessions (which includes clothes) and improving lifes experiences.

I never used to be bothered about holidays. I never desired exotic places, though I always visit different places/cultures. Being at home with the kids makes them seem more important - just getting away from house and the routine. It's the only time I get to see my DH truely relax as he works v long hours. I value being able to give the children a variety of experiences - we try to do/see somthing different everytime we go somewhere.

I am going to focus on this - experiences, it is the school holidays after all.

SludgeBrown · 02/08/2014 09:32

Oh I'm doing this too. Day 1 went well, no shakes or anything

GobblersKnob · 02/08/2014 09:37

I'm in.

I will do a month, I will, I will, I will.

I would love to do a year. I need to wear what I have, I am always terrified of wearing clothes out or somehow spoiling them, then I won't have them anymore. I am also shocking for saving things for best.

OsloGin · 02/08/2014 11:03

Last night I managed to wear a dress bought 5 months ago and shoes bought in 2011, neither of which had ever been worn.

I almost splurged in the asos sale yesterday but that kind of behaviour is what got me into this position.

Over the next month I am going to wear all my unworn season-appropriate clothes or else they get charity-shopped.

andsmile · 02/08/2014 11:07

saving things for best gobbler

OsloGin · 02/08/2014 11:13

Gobbler I am another saving clothes for best person. It's like they are an exhibit or archive rather than clothes.

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 11:13

When is a scarf and piece of clothing and then is it not?

andsmile · 02/08/2014 11:21

When is a scarf a piece of clothing and when is it not?

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 11:23

I do feel guilty Sad Its an accessory and can be used in many ways....but I still feel bad.

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 11:25

Im not going yo wear it as a dress though rest assured! I dont have many scarves and rarely wear them. I suppose I feel bad cause its still spending money.

Greengardenpixie · 02/08/2014 11:32
