Hi all.. , several of us on S&B have been posting about our clothese spending ( we know thatis what S&B is about [smile}.

We have wardrobes and chest of drawers utterlyand totally rammed...

We have piles of clothese we've even forgotten we have,(some with the lables still on )

We obsessively peruse S&B looking at recommendations (and then buy them, just because there are there)

We have no willpower,(yet Wink)

We are a friend to every online shop and discount offer going..(not to mention credit card companies)

We just cannot resist sales..

Our postmen and women and the local couriers are getting to know us better than our friends and neighbours..

BUT we want toget back into control and just enjoy what we have to wear.

To this end We the Undersigned PLEDGE to a NO spend August on clothes bags, accessories and shoes (and also make up and beauty products if that is your weakness)

The ONLY exceptions will be tights, basic underwear (knickers and bras) and to replace something that has Genuinley worn out..

It will be hard .. It will be tough.. We will have to be accountable to each other ..BUT WE CAN DO IT!

So Who's in? Smile

Sign up below .. (and try and resist spending for the rest of July.. this is NOT atime to stock up before too late!!)..

those who sign up wil be prepared check in here regularily

(A tyrant ain't I? Grin

I'm gearing up for an abstaining August. I've sent back all but one item from my Next sale delivery and returned a top to another shop, it's about the third top in a similar style that I've ordered and returned so I think I need to accept that particular style isn't right for me!

I do have an online order due Blush, sort of hoping it arrives today so I can sneak it in before the deadline.

HalleLouja · 31/07/2014 14:27

Am signing up on the proviso I can buy bras. Have lost lots of weight so need new ones. Apart from that I am going to be strong.

This is despite the fact I would like an Allium B dress and some playsuits. I have enough clothes to last me through the summer Grin.

Greengardenpixie · 31/07/2014 16:48

Hi Hallelouja, i need bras too so thats fine. I am awaiting an order from next with a few bras so that i can choose the one that suits me.

masterprocrastinator · 31/07/2014 18:14

Ok, before the deadline, today I bought nail varnish and make up brushes from TKMaxx for no good reason, but that counts as the last splurge. Bring on August. This won't be difficult at all Hmm Good luck everyone.

Laska42 · 31/07/2014 18:25

Bras and essential underwear is fine (and tights socks if you need them)

But we are not to be adding to our 'posh' nice to have' lingerie collection.. that ok ? Sorry I have to be tough..

No spend day ! yay!

For work today I wore a Boden vest top - bright Orange and blue.. bought in the summer sale last year and only worn once before .. and Toast indigo drawstring skirt ( looks like denim , but is actually heavy jersey -I got that on the sale about 3 weeks ago and have virtually lived in it , its so great ) Also Clarks orange/pink sandals bought last years sale ( but have worn those loads already) ..

Felt really good in it as an outfit.. I have also advertised three of my maxi dresses at work so far , but will do ebay if they dont sell ..

I determined not to dally onthis thread this evening .. but good to see everyone doing well. and Welcometo all new joiners

1st August tomorrow!! Remember you have all promised to be good.. Grin Can i suggest we ban any more linking to clothes sites and blogs now?

Oh, and you cannot ask your DH, DP, Mum, sister, auntie or friend to buy you something you fancy and have it count as no spending. (Unsolicited clothing gifts are ok, but consider chucking something else out?..

And if you have a wedding or (Really) important date night to go to that you really, really cant find anything in your wardrobe suitable..... I propose that The Committee ( thats all of us here at the time! Grin) will need to sanction a purchase first!!

(Very Tough Love!.. But we need to be accountable if we are change our bad ways!!)..

It's only for one month.. ...(at the moment.. Ha, ha ,ha. Evil cackle )

Laska...i have that skirt..its the same as my drawstring trousers. As a one shopaholic..i have both!!! Its quite short but i will wear it on my hips. Its very versatile, goes with everything and could be worn in winter with thick tights. I have the crops on in the same material. So comfy.. How odd that we both have the same 'material' on today!!!

Greengardenpixie · 31/07/2014 18:50

Yes, about the clothes sites and blogs...good idea! Grin

Laska42 · 31/07/2014 18:55

(I am really very nice in RL, never say Boo to a goose!)

greengarden I wear it on my hips also .. its brilliant doesnt bag and washes really well..

Greengardenpixie · 31/07/2014 19:22

I am sure you very nice!!! You are just keeping us all on the straight and narrow. Did you purchase any clothes from the charity shop today that you are not telling us about????? hee hee hee...
Anyway, i did purchase a set of muppets nail varnish but i dont normally buy it and i share it with my dd [ she is 7 and obsessed with nail varnish] Its not a usual buy for me i have to say.

Greengardenpixie · 31/07/2014 19:27

I go back to work in about a week and a half. Wont be on here as much as i work 3 days Monday - Wednesday. It will be far easier for me not to spend. The holidays and the sales are a bad bad combination for me. I cant browse the internet at work as we arent allowed and there are no shops either so that will be that. My only thing will be in the evening although i will most like have stuff to do for work then. I can work long hours some evenings esp at the beginning of term.

Drywhiteplease · 31/07/2014 20:09

Oh go on then......I'm obv a complete clothes a holic, no spend August is a great idea although easy as there's nothing to buy and I'm away for 2 weeks am I too late? Bought a pair of Gap shorts and a Zara cardigan today. You can check on me on MNV.

Greengardenpixie · 31/07/2014 20:58

Actually laska..i dont think kermit is included in the colour range!!! Miss Piggy..there is a very pale pink, a more coral colour which is what i was after..the rest is additional!! There is beautiful bright blue!!! and another iridescent colour of i suppose green/brown/red..mixed in..or that what it looks like.

I like the names -
Miss Piggy's Big Number
Kermit Me to Speak
I Love Applause
Chillin' Like a Villain

Greengardenpixie · 31/07/2014 20:59

Orangeanddemons · 31/07/2014 21:05

Dare I say this.....not sure.....

My house burnt down in June which was very very traumatic! All my clothes! However, we have had money from the insurance, and I am having a really really lovely time buying as many clothes as possible this month!

Saurus72 · 31/07/2014 21:19

Orangeanddemons that sounds utterly traumatic - I can't think of a better reason not to do no spend August!

Drywhiteplease · 31/07/2014 22:25

Orange you're obv excused. What a horrible thing to happenSad ...where do you start replacing all your clothes and how did you value your wardrobe? hope I don't sound flippant, bit this is S and B

Drywhiteplease · 31/07/2014 22:26

Green thanks. I like a name that sums me up Wink

OsloGin · 31/07/2014 22:38

Orange I think you need a thread of your own! Replacing an entire wardrobe sounds quite daunting.

masterprocrastinator · 01/08/2014 07:33

Orange that is terrible. Good luck with your insurance spend, hope you find close replacements or lovely new pieces to mend your heart somewhat.

ChablisLover · 01/08/2014 08:28

Can anyone join?

I could do with a no spend month (year!) but could I start on Sunday as am on hols and am passing and stopping at a large outlet on way home Grin

CoconutAmericano · 01/08/2014 08:48
