Oh thank you all so much - best tip was 'breath' from Santa!!! I just starting thinking about it last night and went into minor panic mode.

So plan is - no mn today (thanks QueenC) - I will reward myself with a quick check in about 9pm if I get everything done!!! The washing is on and I have split the ironing into an essential and non essential pile. I will study this evening and get up early tomorrow morning to do an extra hour too.

DH has agreed to go buy pillows. He has also agreed to sort out the hall.

I'm near a good TKMaxx with work tomorrow so will go there at lunchtime to get some diffusers (agree totally non essential Dry but I like them and all mine are empty) Sleeping bags are a great tip for future reference - can't happen this time as they are flying and taking hand luggage only.

Betty I would love to get a cleaner in - one of the ongoing little niggles between me and DH - I want one, he says unnecessary (and in fairness he does most of the housework).

Ok must crack on - apols again for the very long, boring, stressy housework posts - normal service will resume shortly.

One take it easy, you may feel a bit better but make sure you are fully recovered.

AmberNectarine · 13/08/2014 10:12

It's amazing what you can get done when you buckle down - yesterday evening I hoovered the whole house, cleaned both bathrooms and the kitchen, did two loads of washing and put away another two, ironed 20 garments and did a lot of tidying/rearranging. Was a boring evening but the house looks way better and tonight I can relax in pleasant surroundings!

BrandyAlexander · 13/08/2014 10:18

Oh I am late to this but everyone has already said it all. I agree with breeeathe. I get like this, I totally understand. Thanks We are your friends the thread wouldn't be the same if it was only ever about fashion! I have loads of diffusers at home, do you want me to post you some. I, okay my housekeeper can do it in a couple of hours time and you can have it by tomorrow, save yourself a trip to the shop. If so pm me as I will get the email.

Now fashion wise I am wearing the RM BR block dress today as it's sunny but chilly out of the sun. It's fantastic!!!!

Stokey · 13/08/2014 10:30

Great advice from everyone Liberty. I try not to iron if I can possibly help it

Dress envy Novice. I went into BR on Regent's St yesterday and they didn't have any of that one left. They have quite a few others but mainly in tiny sizes. But I did get to change my 0/4 for a 4/8 so at least got one. There was one pink dress Blair but only in a 2/6. I tried it but the black was definitely better on me.

Topazandpearl · 13/08/2014 10:33

Glad you are feeling better One, as others have said, take it easy.

I'm sure you will get everything you need done Liberty and remember that they are coming to spend time with you and your family, not to inspect your ironing!

Sounds very peaceful Dry. There are advantages to not being a lier-inner (not really a word).

Good choice on the dress Novice. I would do a selective cull and reorganise, putting out of season or special occasion/rarely worn but must-keep clothes in one of the spare room wardrobes, leaving the other free for guests.

Thanks to The Times, I have discovered uterque which has some lovely things. I will do a proper browse later.

I had to phone Atterley Road earlier as my latest refund was for only one of the items I sent back. They refunded the red skirt, but not the black glittery shoes which were in the same package! They are investigating and will phone me back.

bettykt · 13/08/2014 11:48

Just clicked on the link Topaz some lovely things on there at sensible prices too.

LinusDKD · 13/08/2014 12:00

Glad you are feeling better one!

liberty seems you have things sorted now. I was getting stressed just reading your post. Grin

novice I also need to do a wardrobe cull, badly. I also need a new wardrobe but we just can't find any we like/that will fit in our bedroom.

Wearing my blue TS shirt today (good sign) and I love it. Very soft and flattering.

shopafrolic · 13/08/2014 13:43

Lib I know you're not checking in until later but I'm thinking of you and totally get how you're feeling. I get panicked when I fee I have too much on, too many guests coming, things to do. I'm getting a bit like this at the moment as we have guests this weekend, then leave straight away for Bournemouth and then loads of stuff between now and back to school.
No additional tips for you but YY to only doing the essential stuff and WOW how good is this thread? Loads of advice and reed diffusers on tap! (nice one Novice)
Dry your pics look fab on FB - love them - have fun xx
Marsha glad car got fixed - free membership next year? Grin
Took DS for a haircut this morning - the first one ever with absolutely no tears at all, not even a grumpy face - we've turned a corner (only taken 3.5 years)

shopafrolic · 13/08/2014 15:07

Final reductions on at ANNA - some pretty good last bits....

Topazandpearl · 13/08/2014 16:00

Just updating to say that Atterley Road have processed the refund for the shoes now.

Your post about your son's haircut Shop reminded me that DS used to cry when getting his hair cut too. I solved it by getting DH to take him to the barber, where he didn't cry. At the age of 21, DS is still going to the same barber, although he goes by himself now!

Drywhiteplease · 13/08/2014 16:06

Liberty hope I didn't sound rude about diffusers!
I get stressed, feel throat tightening when I feel snowed under by a huge list of jobs. I go into " manic monster mode" and have to sit down and make a list then just plough through them! often list looks scarier than the time it takes to do iykwim. At the end of the day, though, guests always have a good time because they're with the people they love. Smile

OneLittleLady · 13/08/2014 16:48

Argh. I do not have a single pair of jeans that fit! I'm somewhere between a generous 14 and a small 16 (i'm always a size or more bigger in jeans as I have big hips but a small waist). I have 16's that are too big and gape on the waist and 14's that won't quite fasten. I have loads of stuff but no jeans!! How can I be a student without the correct uniform of skinny jeans and obscure band/comic tees?!?! Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/08/2014 18:42

Oh dear One sounds like you need to hit the shops! When do you start your course?

liberty hope you're getting on ok with sorting everything out.

Just seen this article about the largest dressing room in America Shock - unbelievable!

bettykt · 13/08/2014 18:52

Blair wow just wow, could she really wear all those pairs of trainers? How does she reach the items that are high up?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/08/2014 19:10

betty she probably employs someone to get them down for her Grin

LinusDKD · 13/08/2014 19:31

I bet her Birkies and Fitflops are hidden in a secret drawer somewhere! Grin

QueenCardigan · 13/08/2014 19:41

I am a broken woman. 5 hours at soft play. But at least I came home to my new boots. I've had a quick try on and love them. They look good with jeans rolled up for autumn as well as under jeans in winter so I'm thinking if I don't buy anything else then I shall pay for them myself rather than waiting for dh to give them to me in November. I want to maximise my wear out of them!

dry looks like you're having a great holiday. Ours still seems so long away (9 days) and I'm worried that summer has gone.
one come September those 14s will fit.

OneLittleLady · 13/08/2014 20:22

I enrol on September the 15th blair I'm both excited and terrified. Graduating and then moving seems such a long way off at this point

libertychick · 13/08/2014 22:10

Thanks again for all the sympathy. Novice you are too kind but a combination of Dry's comments (not rude at all BTW) and the sudden realisation that my DB would be ROFL if he realised I was panicking about diffusers in anticipation of his arrival made me get a grip! He and SIL are both lovely and would hate to think I was stressing. So I have calmed down.

You will all be relieved to hear that the sheets have been washed, the hall is clear, kitchen is clean the fridge will do, pillows have been acquired, hospital appointment was attended, some work and study were done and the spare room is a haven of calm orderliness!! Have narrowed down the ironing to 10 items which I will do now. Half a tub of Haagen Dazs and 2 glasses of wine helped the whole process enormously Wink.

That closet is just ridiculous!

libertychick · 13/08/2014 22:16

LOVE the boots QueenC - perfect Smile

QueenCardigan · 13/08/2014 22:56

Well done lib (and thanks for the boot love). I'm slightly squiffy drunk wondering how to entertain 3 dc with a hangover tomorrow Grin.

maradesbois · 13/08/2014 22:58

Evening,

That is a bizarre closet. Everything on display like in a shop but what about the dust?

One agree with QueenC wait a few weeks then get the 14s, you're well on the way there!

QueenC nice boots. A/W does seem close now. Wore my pistols today and had the summer being over feeling but hopefully doing holiday packing tomorrow will get me back on summer mode.

Liberty sounds like you're on top of everything now and ready for your visitors. Your coursework sounds really intense, hope you can relax and take a proper break from it this weekend.

Picked up my Outnet clearance Casadei heels from DHL today. Felt like a faff and was prepared to send straight back but actually like them, will mull it over and decide tomorrow.

Am feeling pretty rotten like have a cold coming on, shivery and sore throat. Didn't even do my shred this morning. Hope its nothing much, going on hols in 4 days. Ds has his last ever day at nursery tomorrow before starting pre-prep. We've been making cakes to take in and I couldn't resist and broke my fast day. Was worth it though!

OneLittleLady · 13/08/2014 23:11

mara get some honey and lemon in hot water. Does wonders for sore throats. Used to be my mum's first line of defence whenever we were ill and is still always the first thing I turn to when I'm coming down with something. Hope you feel better soon and are able to enjoy your holiday

I know the 14's will fit soon, they are really close to fitting now, I can get them on but just not quite fastened so i know it won't be long but I do need to get something for the mean time. Once I've got my budgets and everything worked out for the term, i shall be asking for advice on things to buy with my 'treat' money ( i can't drink so any group nights out won't cost me more than taxi fare really so won't really need a budget for that) so pre emptive idea gathering would be appreciated ladies Smile

QueenCardigan · 14/08/2014 07:53

Morning. My head's not too bad thankfully!
one do you have a decent bag to carry all your stuff in for college. Or am I showing my age? Do you have notes/books anymore or is it all electronic. That would be my priority.
mara ds and I have been feeling like that too but luckily it seems short lived. Hope you feel better.

OneLittleLady · 14/08/2014 08:58

queenC I've got a decent rucksack I can use for the time being as I will have plenty of notes and books to carry around. I'm waiting for my reading list to be sent out along with the rest of the info about 'freshers week' I may have to buy another, better bag once I get my mac book (i know, I know but they are industry standard and one of the programs I'll be using is specific to mac) as the one I have won't afford enough protection for that I don't think.
