Continuing. From here some of us may have jetted off to far flung foreign parts, but we're still friendly, fabulous even in the heat wave and full of frivolous fashion talk. Come and join us Smile

Will read the last few posts properly in a bit but is anyone else finding that when they go on asos every item is showing as OOS?! I clicked Skirts at the top and it showed me 1 skirt and that's when I realised... Just me?

shopafrolic · 12/08/2014 13:15

Waves to Marsha! How are you lovely? Working too hard?

MarshaBrady · 12/08/2014 13:23

Hello Shop! Sort of coming out the other side now, so feeling relaxed. Dh's last day at work today. I find the ad hoc nanny booking the stressful part and it's obvs impossible to relay this to people at work. However my lovely nanny is getting booked up more and more, I've been lucky for absolutely ages.

How lovely about the mini up. Really nice thing to do on these summer days. And a big post mu wave to MrsR.

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2014 14:52

Hello. Kids wanted lunch at carluccios today so decided if would take the opportunity to nip into coast. Tried on the lace skirt I linked the other day and it is gorgeous. But unfortunately it clings in a really unflattering manner around my mum tum. I sized up and it still did it so sadly it's not to be. I did think about trying with control pants but a, I don't think they'd help as it literally is just a saggy pouch and b, I just cannot be arsed!

Drywhiteplease · 12/08/2014 15:52

And a wave and a hello to you all from my hols...having a fab time. Packing is spot on but I need more beach cover ups.
Agree about Gap Bf denim shorts, lovely, wearing a lot and seen a few on others but huge on waist.
Shop mini MU sounds lovely.
QueenC you know I have the Grosvenor in black, have worn and worn and it looks great. A fantastic bag. If you'd like I could call the outlet nearby....you never know.

Evening!

queenc that Coast skirt reminds me that I saw the DvF Zarita dress in a gorgeous dark indigo recently. I tried two Zarita dresses on last winter but either the size was wrong or the colour not quite right, but this looks lovely. Think you might like it too. Will try and find a link.

My TS shirt arrived today and I love it, the perfect casual throw on shirt. I did size down from a 10 to an 8 and it's not too bulky.

one how are you feeling now?

LinusDKD · 12/08/2014 19:02

Oh and is it normal that TS Leigh jeans don't seem to come in a size 27? Every time I look they have size 28 and 26 but not 27. Am I just unlucky?

My size 28 still fit but are maybe getting a teensy but baggy and I have my eye on another pair. But I think a 26 would be pushing my luck.

OneLittleLady · 12/08/2014 20:37

Evening all. I'm ok, not feeling quite so bad as I was last night. Hoping for another decent nights sleep and fingers crossed I'll be over the worst of it by then.

BrandyAlexander · 12/08/2014 20:50

wave to all! glad to hear you're not too bad OneSmile

big wave to MrsR and holiday Dry

Blair in the Wren Press lies the road to financial ruin....and beautiful stationery!

Marsha, disaster averted!Grin

I am so tired. today was such a hellish day. that big meeting I should have had last eeekend was today. I was very glad I had rehearsed the conversation. I havent felt stress like that in a long time! I did feel very business like aka don't mess with me in my damsel in a dress Alexandra dress and jacket with hair pinned up.

I have a first world problem for you all. my dressing room is bursting at the seams. its a double room with built in wardrobes down 3 walls.Blush however my double wardrobes in my spare room are now up. and empty. do I shift clothes to this tantalisingly empty wardrobe or do I cull?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/08/2014 20:56

Glad to hear it One :)

Linus I think some (most?) high street shops only do even number size jeans, I suppose it's cheaper for them.

There is a skirt version of the Zarita here, it's on my wishlist as I have an old navy lace pencil skirt from Mango which is getting knackered. I'll let you know if I see any other nice ones in my search QueenC.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 12/08/2014 20:57

novice I have a full wardrobe of clothes in my spare room. It's there to be used imo!

libertychick · 12/08/2014 21:20

I had a rough meeting today too Novice Good to have it out of the way though. I think you should do a bit of a cull and then at least you will know the stuff you have moved are all things you really want.

Really glad to hear you are feeling better One.

shopafrolic · 12/08/2014 21:26

As a woman who only has one wardrobe now, I say cull Novice. Helps you see things more clearly and you'll lose less stuff :)

QueenCardigan · 12/08/2014 21:30

That's lovely blair but out of my price range. To be fair apart from a cocktail party in September I've no idea where I'd wear a lace skirt. But yes, do tempt me with other links.

one glad you're feeling better.

novice I'd have a sort out and cull. I tend to do this twice a year to keep on top of things.

LinusDKD · 12/08/2014 21:37

novice we can always come and give you a hand...
Grin

MarshaBrady · 12/08/2014 21:46

Haha I feel a Novice dress party coming on Grin Wink

I got stranded at Sainsbury's. Battery died. My advert today is for RAC, turned up so quickly.

MarshaBrady · 12/08/2014 21:51

Btw I am not bring serious about the advert! I paid like normal

libertychick · 12/08/2014 22:29

Grin at Marsha (and taps side of nose) joking, joking

A novice dress party would be great fun for my left calf which is the only body part that might squeeze into one of her dresses Smile

libertychick · 12/08/2014 22:44

Quick query for the more organised among you...

I am working from home tomorrow, have a day in an office all day Thursday (but I can make some personal calls, pop out to shops etc) and have meetings in London from 9am through to 2pm on Friday.

My brother, his wife and their 3 DC (1.10, 4 and 6) arrive to stay for 3 nights on Friday afternoon - all plans made for the weekend so far are dependent on it not raining so I need to the following:

  1. make some back up arrangements in case it buckets down all weekend - our house is tiny, we can't all sit in all weekend
  2. I have to fit in some study time as I don't want to do it while they are here
  3. BIG pile of ironing,
  4. need to buy new pillows,
  5. clear all my study and work stuff from the spare room,
  6. have to go with DH to a hospital apt tomorrow afternoon,
  7. need to wash sheets etc.

DH will menu plan and shop but I will need to do a sneaky check on it Smile.

There are lots of other small things I'd like to do like buying some flowers, some room fragrance reed disperser things, clear some space in the spare room wardrobe so they can hang their stuff, clear the coat and shoe area in the hall again so they have room for their stuff, ideally I would clean the fridge it's ok but SIL is a bit anal ahhhhhh help me!!!!

I can't do it all, so what would you priortise and when would you do it given my schedule??

libertychick · 12/08/2014 22:46

Sorry, v long - even if you read it and make soothing noises I'll be grateful...

santamarianovella · 12/08/2014 23:13

liberty I had to read it many times for your post to sink in, and I think I just processed half of it! Grin,
First breeeeeath

If I had visitors coming ,I would do the following,

Order pillows, flowers , room fragrance online,or click and collect,( anytime)

Do all washing, and ironing tomorrow, and think about backup plans while ironing, multitask, although to be honest, its London, they could never get bored, exhibitions? Museums? A new cafe or resturant? Movies? The good old science musuem? Westfield?

Study on Thursday ,and clear up the room and tidy

No need to clean the fridge? I'm sure its clean as it is,

No need to outdo yourself,

I'm not the most organised person, I think its dry territory, but I'm sure you will be fine,

QueenCardigan · 13/08/2014 07:17

lib here's what I would do...

  1. Museums-natural history/science. Does kew have any indoor bits in case of showers. Soft play?
  2. Set tonight as study time. Is that enough or do you need more. No mumsnetting.
  3. Prioritise anything that needs ironing before the weekend. Anything else can wait.
  4. Order pillows online. JL or next do next day delivery. ( don't use m&s as I've never found them reliable for next day). Add room fragrance things onto order.
  5. Presumably this needs prioritising so that guests can sleep there. Are you leaving work at 2 on Friday. Can you do this when you get home.
  6. Priority and no getting out of. Can you take a study book to read on way there or if waiting hours to see the doctor?
  7. Only wash sheets that guests are using. Don't stress out with doing yours and mini-libs. That can wait till next week. Can dh do sheets whilst you're at work.

Food- does dh do it online? Can he order/buy flowers when he shops? Unless fridge is totally manky then literally just give it a quick wipe down and pack shopping away neatly and it will look so much better ( quick tip for future-wipe down fridge weekly when do big shop-helps keep on top of it). Clearing hall should take mins. Just pick it all up and throw it in your bedroom and close the door on it Grin.

Above all relax. They're coming to see you, not inspect your house.

bettykt · 13/08/2014 07:34

Liberty Could you send the ironing off to be done by someone? They collect it and bring it back 24 later hours, job done and 1 less job to do. Could you get a cleaner in for a few hours and ask them to clean the fridge? I'm not normally lazy but when I need jobs urgently I get help. I agree with Santa and QueenC about the rest, do as much as you can online.

Novice I'd be tempted to cull, I'm into culling at the moment and want to get rid of everything I don't wear/like. Im trying to pare back to make way for new stuff

One hope you had a good night's sleep and are starting to feel better again.

OneLittleLady · 13/08/2014 08:46

Morning all. Had a good nights sleep and I think I'm over the worst of it now. Chest doesn't feel as bad and most of the general 'unwell' feelings seem to have passed. Have to pop out to the post office but other than that that, it's going to be a lazy day as I don't want to over do it and set myself back. thank you everyone for your concern Thanks my sister came over yesterday to do some general tidying and fussing, she even made me eggs and soldiers Grin

Drywhiteplease · 13/08/2014 09:05

Ok......liberty my family are still in bed Shock I'm by the pool with wifi.....so, I'm pondering your problem although there have been brilliant solutions already.

Can the children bring sleeping bags and pillows? We have a lot of visitors and I now ask that, we have loads of sleeping bags at home too.

Tonight:

Study
Clear study/guest room
Wash ONLY essential sheets
Iron only ESSENTIAL ironing if this includes guest bedding only iron the bits that show, I'm a slob

Delegate flowers to DH with food.

Order pillows and diffusers essential? I'd be delighted as a guest to have flowers, let alone diffusers online, unless you have a JL or M and S nearby, on the way back from hosp app?

Think about back up plan whilst waiting for DH .....zoo? Urban farm? I'm not sure what you have near you......

Hope this helps. Or else there is another solution.....CALL Novice's housekeeper Grin

Novice I'd love to reorganise your wardrobes! shame you live so far away. Cull...but carefully.
