Which SLS free shampoo do you love?

I am struggling to find a SLS free shampoo that I love.

Naked range was meh
Bodyshop rainforest is my current one - it's ok but I don't love it.

What are you using and is it great?
I don't want to spend a fortune, and if I can get a fairly 'natural' one - the less chemicals the better then that'd be great. :)

I had a look in Lush the other day and the shampoos they had that were SLS free had ammonium laureth sulphate instead and after trying one on my hands I think I'm allergic to that too

I'm pretty happy with my botanics shampoo. If you google british curliess list of shampoo, they have loads of suggestions.

I have a Botanics one too. I like it.
The timotei one is rubbish.

Liz Earle haircare range is SLS free and not too expensive either. I've been using this for a while after trying others, and my hair (and skin) loves it!

The nicest one I've used is by Green People. It's more expensive than high street brands, but lasts for absolutely ages.

Urtekram Chamomile is lovely as is the Rose one, they have a good range. The chamomile one I've used on my DS2 from birth and at 14 he still uses now, it's great on my fine, flyaway, dark blonde hair too.

I know lots of people on here like Bodyshop Rainforest but me it was only OK - hair still dry and frizzy and despite no SLS set off my eczema.

Kerastase Bain de Force is amazing and totally changed my dry fine hair into shiny volume.

I thought I was in love forever until I bought L'Oreal Ever Riche (shampoo and conditioner) on holiday - even better and less than half the price of the Kerastase. Fabulous.

Oh and hated A'Kin with a passion. Clogged up my hair with a foul residue. Got thrown away after about 2 weeks, it was so awful.

I love A'Kin works well for my dry frizzy hair I use it a couple of times a month only as I am currently trying the Curly Girl method.

I like Pureology shampoos. Good if your hair is coloured.

I alternate between Moogoo (very gentle and best for my scalp) and Liz Earle (best for my hair but occasionally still get a little bit of scalp itch with it).
Have you gone silicon free too?
I really like the Liz Earle serum which is silicon free.

Body shop ..always 40% off too!

None :( am thinking of going back to the chemical laden stuff.

Naked is rubbish especially the conditioner- my hair was incredibly fly away and dull after using it.

Organix is ok but again the conditioner is not great- using the Arfon oil shampoo and conditioner and neither is good- coconut not much better. I find it incredibly hard to comb out my wet shoudler length hair and it really tugs at it- hello split ends.

I have to say that in my experience price does actually make a huge difference when it comes to sls free shampoos. I second the rec for pureology. Especially the hydrate one in the purple bottle. If you shop around you can buy it for around £9-10. It is very very concentrated though, so you only need the smallest amount and it will last for ages. I actually find it more economical than cheaper shampoos in the long run.

On the cheaper end, the loreal ever riche line in the gold packaging is also rather good and sls free, although I find it a bit too rich for my hair.

The very best one I've ever used (and i've used a number) Is by Mistry they make for specific hair types and there are hardly any ingredients in them, I find that just because some products are SLS free doesn't mean they don't have a hell of a lot of other chemical sounding stuff in them which i don't like the sound of.

Bet of all they are approx. 3.99 each!!!! and they're made in England which is even better!! They also do amazing creams with calendula and the nicest baby soap in a bottle that i've ever used (dh loves it too!)

I've only seen it in independent H.F. shops but they have a web site to buy by post.

Can someone just enlighten me on why the need for SLS free shampoos. I know what the letters stand for but not why the chemical is considered undesirable. I have used and liked Pureeology,, btw.

I like Aveda, it is expensive but I only need a small amount. I've also found Say Yes to Carrots good as well.

I get on very well with the Skin Blossom shampoo. Incidentally, their body lotion is great too. The products also smell lovely - nice and fresh, but not over-done.

I do keep meaning to try the Mistry ones too- quite like the look of their simple ingredient lists (not relevant, but we used to live near their pharmacy in London before they started selling their own products, and they seemed lovely friendly people!).

SLS is undesireable if you have eczema. I think it's also undesireable if you have hair-straightening treatments but as someone committed to waves I know nothing about this

Other than that there isn't any issue with it but it's now seen as a nasty 'chemical' which some people would like to avoid. Obvs everything is made from chemicals even stuff that sells itself as natural and organic - they are still chemicals and not intrinsically better just because they are 'natural'. And as experiences show above some of those aren't made of particularly effective chemicals

I am a Green People fan too.

Curently using the Daily Aloe shampoo shampoo

It is about £10 for a large tube - which lasts a long time as you don't use much. I started my tube in December - and it's still in use. They often have offers on too - I think I got shampoo and conditioner on BOGOF.

I found the naked range dried out my hair. Currently looking for one for the kids if anyone can recommend please. Two boys with normal hair and a daughter with slightly greasy hair.

Happy Days shampoo is SLS free. You can buy it in larger Sainsburys. It lathers really well which a lot of them don't. Avoid the conditioners if you are trying to stay away from silicone too.

I used to use Naked Smooth but it really irrates my scalp now. Maybe the formula has changed.

I can't decide!

I do know I tried the Happy Days one when they came out and it stung my eyes a lot!

Really tempted by green people but don't think I've ever spent £20 on shampoo and conditioner!

I'm trying Palmer Olive Oil just now. Seems ok so far, and pretty cheap if you find it doesn't suit (£3.99 on Amazon). I've tried quite a few shampoos over the last few years and am fed up paying £13+ so trying a few cheaper brands.

Avalon Organics or Trilogy are both pretty good. John Masters Organics is amazing but very expensive.

You can't use any of them without conditioner though.

Avalon Organics ylang ylang range is about the best quality/value
