Wore one last night. Heavy Hot. Clanky. Irritating.

Plus you can't wear earrings with them IMO.
It's like a bloody neck iron.

I'm banning them. swishes wand

I liked hoops when I was all long haired and bohemian - only tiny ones okay now, with my pixie cut.

lurkingaround · 13/07/2014 19:48

Grin She's stunning!

Ooh Remus you were long haired and bohemian?? I am so bad at this. I would have taken you for anything but frills.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/07/2014 19:54

I am now v paired back, with the occasional frivolity (mostly skirt based]] sort of thing

Have got much more sensible, as I've got older, but still like the occasional crazy Westwood-esque touch etc.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/07/2014 19:54

Pared not paired.

I love a bold / statement necklace. Mine are mostly from Zara, but I just bought one from J Crew, too. I find them easier than big earrings, which are too heavy and hurt my ears. I love how chandelier earrings, especially, look but the pain is too great, so I hardly wear them. Instead, I just always wear my studs and, sometimes a "statement" necklace. I haven't worn my diamond pendant (like Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof's) for a couple of years, though, so maybe it's time to try delicate jewellery again, too.

Re the smell or heat, my necklaces don't smell or feel hot but I don't always wear them on bare skin - often with a plain top underneath. Maybe that's why?

littlewhitebag · 13/07/2014 20:56

I hate big chunky statement necklaces. I only wear a tiny Tiffany solitaire diamond necklace and matching stud earrings. I wear them all the time and never take them off. I am definitely a less is more sort of person.

Floisme · 13/07/2014 21:03

I'm done with earrings. I used to love them and had a huge collection but got bored. Plus I gave up contact lenses and earrings with specs don't work for me - I have a small face and there's too much going on. I still like clunky necklaces though so nerr.

MOVE ON from the boring jewellery!

I've got a little thing / kit that converts pierced earrings to clip ons, so I need to see if that helps my big earring problem, as then the weight of them shouldn't bother me. Ditto their cheap nickel posts.

littlewhitebag · 13/07/2014 21:55

Gretchen I just can't be arsed to be honest. I have done all the 70's 80's 90's jewellery. I just want my lovely little diamonds. I am happy to be boring!

Coumarin · 14/07/2014 00:53

They're very beauty blogger slash loose woman presenter.

I prefer delicate myself. Like the one Noddy linked to. Big boobs and a whacking great bit of neon metal don't compliment each other very well.

I love statement necklaces even with my big boobs. I have a real problem finding patterned clothes I like so tend to wear very plain outfits and a think a statement necklace gives it a little extra.

My irritation after this weekend is how the hell you clean them as my lovely feather necklace here has tarnished thanks to sun screen (I think). The baking powder method is not working.

Ladyfoxglove · 14/07/2014 15:03

Agreed. I have three and they are too hot to wear in summer.

Grin at Magician's Assistant!

That Courtney Cox necklace is lovely but I just know it would end up looping itself around one of my norks.

The girl in the chain-mail necklace looks weighed down by it. She also looks as if she's off to a Metallica concert. (shows age).

I like a nice simple dangling pendant in pewter/silver/bronze. Like this:

ObfusKate that looks like something Wilma from the Flintstones would wear. I can't do big necklaces myself. I'm way too short.

LOVE that feather one though, MrsPeacock.

Milmingebag · 14/07/2014 19:11

Big statement necklaces remind me of those post menopausal women who have had their colours done who still want the world to know they are 'snazzy'.
