Thanks Beachy for the frisky title suggestion.

Well, here we all are!

Yay Herbs - told you it would be fine! On presents we always kept them and opened later (often over a week) to make sure we knew who had given what and to eek out the enjoyment. Or am I just a killjoy :)

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/07/2014 17:21

Sounds a brilliant party, Herbs. I agree with repeating the formula every year - I always did traditional party at home, which no-one else did, and they all really enjoyed it (even with me being strict).

Blackduck · 13/07/2014 17:22

Wow yes MrsS - I'd be a bit Shock if dp did that! (Did buy me a large iPod for no reason once)

herbaceous · 13/07/2014 17:38

Oh my plan had been to keep the presents back to open at a later date, and I put them all upstairs for this purpose, but part of the whole house rampaging involved him finding the presents and ripping them open, egged on by his more, ahem, spirited friends.

CointreauVersial · 13/07/2014 17:41

Is the Boden Weekend Dress the new metallic skirt? Grin

Nice present, MrsS. I have a small sample of Visa in my stash.

Well done for surviving the party, Herbs. We certainly had very little rain here. I was also at a party this afternoon - a retirement celebration for the DC's preschool teacher, who was retiring after 44 years Shock in the job. She's a lovely lady, a bit of a local legend, so I persuaded the DDs to come along with me. I was expecting a polite little affair in the school hall, but it was a full-on garden party, marquees, jazz band, prosecco, buffet and enough cakes to sink a village. And packed with loads of people I haven't seen since my days on the preschool steps. Great fun. DH was distinctly Envy that he hadn't bothered coming along.

The next job to help DS to pack, as he is off the the IOW on a school trip tomorrow. I still haven't varnished the poxy front door....

Can't open the link! What is it???

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/07/2014 17:54

It's perfume, MI - Visa, by Robert Piguet. I had a squirt, said it was lovely, then went off to look at scarves, and DH came over clutching bag with it in.

What can we do for a holiday, peeps? I am semi tempted by a package holiday...

Rosebag · 13/07/2014 18:09

Rudy DS1 is 26! If you're on my fb I have just posted some photos of him and me at the flat. (I look like I feel…shit) Anyway,I really liked it…loads more space than expected and really light!

MrsS That scent looks divine.. Shock Shock at the price! Lovely to be spoilt like that though. Enjoy!!

Herbs I figured that there'd be no rain…it's been dry here all day and I think we're only a few miles apart. Good on you. Can't say I'm sorry to have left all that behind, though…. Grin

BTM fingers crossed re the end being in sight with the kitchen.

hattymattie · 13/07/2014 18:16

Blimey Mrs S - I hope he knew you liked the scent before he bought it - can't afford mistakes at that price.

Is the weekend dress nice - should I get one?

Rose - your DS is a handsome ladSmile

Herbs Grin at on the couch with hula hoops - glad the party was a success and the rain stayed off.

CointreauVersial · 13/07/2014 18:16

Oh yes, I meant to say, BTM - I'm impressed with your Sunday-working tradesmen. How did you swing that one?

OP posts:
hattymattie · 13/07/2014 18:23

weekend dress sold out -too much hesitation as usual.

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2014 18:39

BD we always did that too!

Kitchen fitters are doing the job on the side. It looks like they've almost done. Fingers crossed we can start putting our pots and pans away at last! Tiler probs not coming till midweek and then I've just had the brainwave of postponing the decorator till we go on hol.

Herbs, glad the party went well, phew! MrsS I did some trad ones for DD - it helps being a teacher for a day job!

Rose, glad your DSs pad is nice. I can only dream of going to visit mine!

What a lovely gift, MrsS - am most impressed.

So pleased that the party was a great success, Herbs (are you wondering why you were anxious about it? ). It's a good time of the year to have a birthday - I am a great believer in getting DC outside.

Just re-read thread, MI - sorry to hear about your problems last night: I sympathise, it's awful when that happens.

Glad to hear that you are feeling ok, Rudy, and that the bruising is going down. I hadn't realised that you had a DC not much younger than mine.

Ooh, a roast dinner. All I've eaten today is a hot dog, a slice of cake and some hula hoops. I can feel my midriff expanding like a balloon.

Mrs S - come to Tenby with us! Five weeks, I think, and we'll be there.

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/07/2014 19:21

I'd like a roast dinner. We're having Thai meatballs and curry.

I am tempted by a package as everything is done for you. I either want a package or somewhere accessible by train. I want to go for walks, swim in the sea and read books.

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/07/2014 19:29

Why are cottages in UK so expensive? We could have a week half board in Italy, in a hotel with a pool, on the beach, for the price of a grim looking cottage in Scotland or Wales.

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/07/2014 19:37

Am very tempted by Tenby, actually... And can get all of us there and back by train with a railcard for £50.

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2014 19:47

I'd like a roast dinner too! We scratched about in the fridge for leftovers.

Still, the fitters have gone and everything is in place. Builder coming back to clear up tomorrow and do the washing machine (please God!) then we can start putting stuff back.

Rudy, you can only come if you put a paper bag over your headGrin
Talking of which, where shall we meet? It was a no from both Rose and OPM wasn't it, so one of our Waterloo haunts?

NUFC69 · 13/07/2014 19:51

We have just had meatloaf using a new recipe from the Sunday Times - and there is enough left for tomorrow.

DH has today booked a night in a hotel outside Death Valley for when we drive from Lake Tahoe to Arizona. We have stayed there before: it is near to the gas station which runs guided tours of its on site brothel. Shock Just over 7 weeks until we go (to the USA, not the brothel!).

Blackduck · 13/07/2014 20:04

Rudy - I went green too - so def not at the next crepey meet up as I'm sure you look way better in it than I do Grin

Curry, wine, stressing over bathroom here.

And we are on for 25th??? Love to see as many as possible!
