Thanks Beachy for the frisky title suggestion.

Well, here we all are!

There were holes. A palpable unravelling.

motherinferior · 13/07/2014 12:18

Am I the only person nervously monitoring the heavens?GrinGrin

Blackduck · 13/07/2014 12:45

MI Blush I feel your pain!

Here we are now looking at tiling (moved on from radiators), those more long term crepeys will be relived to hear we are not buying taps that cost 500 (D, five hundred) smackers.......

BTM how's the kitchen?
NU - hope you get baby cuddles
Herbs - keeping everything crossed here...

hattymattie · 13/07/2014 12:53

BD - I would love to have enough cash to point at a picture and say I want this and have it done by competent guys.

Blackduck · 13/07/2014 13:00

Hatty I am really hoping the guy who is doing it is competent! (It's not dp :) )
We have chosen everything though so it could be a dogs breakfast....

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2014 13:00

Good Luck Herbs!
Yes, what did happen to dealing with disappointment, Hatty?! I got peer pressured into doing that at first, but then switched to forfeits which they seemed to enjoy just as much!

MrsS, mine is normal size, but should have gone down a size. It is also long which is fine with heels/wedges, but almost on the floor otherwise!

Well, teen party seemed to go well (will PM you addleWink) and they got back OK on the bus, and rushed upstairs (to avoid me seeing how drunk they were) and there was a fair bit of throwing up (thanks, DD, on the bedHmm) They are all on top form this morning and now two boys have come round, one being the boy she has hated for the last 4 yearsConfused!

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2014 13:01

Meant to say, shoes are jolly nice!

Stropperella · 13/07/2014 13:19

The heavy rain forecast here for yesterday evening never arrived so we all had a super fantabulous time at the party last night. I took a Lucky Dip for the kids (chicken feed bin filled with woodshavings and loads of sweets and tiny plastic toys from Dd's room clearcut) and made them do something (e.g. forward roll, saying a tongue twister) before they had a go. There were more than 20 dcs there of all ages and the Lucky Dip was v popular and then they used the woodshavings for a fight later. I think I still have some in my hair (thanks ds). Mojoitos were fab if potent and dd and her current BFF were on the Pimms and kept telling me they were waiting for me to start the dancing off, so obviously I had to obligeGrin . I appear to have got a bit of a local reputation for this now.Blush Still, it is nice when lots of other people then join in, especially when you see people dragging their ohs on to the "dance floor" and everyone just has a larf. Grin

Blackduck · 13/07/2014 13:28

Stropps sounds like you had a fab time!

We at a 50th next Saturday which apparently will go on until 4.00 Shock

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2014 13:36

Stropps, your party sounds great! In fact it sounds like all the best parties happen in the countryside - maybe we should move?

We had a huge downpour about 8pm last night and I broke the new sunbrella in my rush to put it upSad But it was great to see our old friends who we haven't seen for a few months.

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2014 13:38

Oh and for all you possible career-changers, my DAuntie started painting when she retired. She is now 70something and is making £££ out of it! So there is hope for us allSmile

herbaceous · 13/07/2014 13:53

Weather intermittently glorious, and now only forecast to do 'light rain' at four pm, which is when the little darlings should be going home anyway. I think it's all those crepeys looking heavenward that's swung it!

I'm wearing my new Gap maxi skirt with racy coral foldover bit, and a stripey vest. Nothing, so far, has chocolate on it.

Bouncy castle up, nibbles in bowls, squash in jugs. Ten minutes to lift off. Time to open the prosecco. See you on the other side.

Blackduck · 13/07/2014 13:57

It will be fab Herbs!!

Rosebag · 13/07/2014 14:26

Still sunny here…hope the party goes with a bang…kids will love it Herbs.

Am going to see DS1's new flat…naturally, its a new build so postcode doesn't show up on amy map!!

Rosebag · 13/07/2014 14:26

aNy

NUFC69 · 13/07/2014 14:35

I have even been watching the sky anxiously here, Herbs, which is totally mad, and just stopped myself saying to DH "it'll be ok for the party".
Didn't get a baby cuddle as he was asleep so didn't expect it either. DGD1 was very whingy whilst we were there. I do not envy DDil: DS is going to Barcelona later and will not be back until 11 tomorrow night (her DM is sleeping over and staying while DS is away).

Stropps, that sounds like really good fun.

NUFC69 · 13/07/2014 14:38

Hope you find it ok, Rose. DDil was saying that the HV had spent 45 minutes looking for her house (which didn't go down well as when she arrived it was to discover the midwife was there and there had been an administrative error).

Auriga · 13/07/2014 16:37

Ouch, MI. Horrible feeling. Been in a couple of bad pile-ups in my time . Hope everyone has seen the funny side.

We were at concert last night and it rained so hard we could hardly hear the choir for the thundering on the roof.

Glad parties went well and NUFC got a glimpse of baby.

Operation Garden Rescue has begun here. I want to transform it from a blank wilderness/playground to a proper little suburban paradise. I know nothing about gardening. So wish me luck.

I have the weekender dress too!
What colour way Rudy?!

MrsSchadenfreude · 13/07/2014 17:16

Have purchased British Monopoly, Cath Kidston teapot, Fortnum's tea and biscuits in Posh Tin for DD2 to take to the US on Wednesday. Do you think that will be enough?

DH (not known for being spendthrift or good at present buying) bought me a bottle of this this afternoon. ShockShock

herbaceous · 13/07/2014 17:18

I'm alive. The bouncy castle was a hit, no-one was sick, the cake was delicious and, what's more, it DIDN'T RAIN, ONE DROP!

It was utter bedlam, with children tearing all over the house, all the presents getting opened and separated from their cards, and a few 'rough boys' upsetting the girls, but it was generally thought to be an excellent party, and that I'd 'raised the bar' for future events. Now I have the template, I shall just repeat each year!

DP has just left in a taxi for the airport to Dublin. I plan to spend the evening lying on the couch, watching the world cup, eating leftover hula hoops and cake, amid the chaos.

herbaceous · 13/07/2014 17:19

And, flipping heck Mrs S. That's one hell of a spontaneous gift!

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2014 17:19

Yay Rudy - guess you can look down now!
I purchased some of those trousers too, but they are going back. As usual the thighs are snug and the waist loose. I am such a weird shapeAngry

Kitchen fitters still hard at it - praying that I may be able to get in there later and that the washing machine may get reconnected today.
