Thanks Beachy for the frisky title suggestion.

Well, here we all are!

OP posts:
NUFC69 · 17/07/2014 08:54

I like "School's out for Crepeys".

I am cross with DH; so far this morning I have put away after him: table mat (abandoned on kitchen table), empty water bottle (at the back door because he can't possibly walk 2 yards in bare feet to put it in the bin), labels, scissors, fruit juice and the list goes on.

Sorry to hear about the job, Herbs, keeping my fingers crossed for MI's work for you.

I hope DD has arrived safely, MrsS?

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2014 08:58

I vote for "August is a Crepey Month."

DD2 did indeed arrive safely. She said the flight was great - she was sitting next to another UM the same age, and another girl, who was 17 came and joined them, and the time went very quickly. They are now all Best Facebook Friends.

Stropperella · 17/07/2014 09:05

This is where ds spent last night. The teachers who camp out with them are fantastic and deserve a medal.

That looks FAB.

BD, I did wonder about 'Summertime and the Crepeys are easy' Wink

That's part of the school's very own Celtic village. Wot they made themselves with help from the Ancient Technology Centre. :) Apparently, the girls woke up at 4am when they did their sleepover on Tues. I wonder if the boys did any better..

Herbs, commiserations about the work disappearing in a puff of smoke. This happens to us all the time :(

MrsS, loving your latest FB post. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2014 09:53

Stropps - there is a peculiar smell in there as well. Her room generally smells of hamsters (do we have hamsters? No, we don't), but I am worried that the cat has snuck in and had a crafty pee in there.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2014 09:57

Hmm. Discovered the source of the smell - a rucksack full of filthy and wet clothes, including swimsuit and towels from her outward bound trip with the school. The one she got back from on the 11th. All festering nicely in a plastic bag.

herbaceous · 17/07/2014 10:11

It is indeed a blow re lucrative work - it was going to be about £1500 for a week. GET IN. I may try and get a week's work from my usual client instead, and send DS to a playscheme. Partly for my own sanity.

Stropperella · 17/07/2014 10:53

MrsS, I am itching to add to the comments - something along the lines of "if you think that's bad, you should have seen what I was dealing with last week" Grin, but I fear dd would see my comments and it wouldn't go down well. At least the only hamstery smell round here is now just emanating from the hamster cage and not all the corners of dd's room. :) Mind you, she and bff were having some kind of competitive "your room is grosser than mine" convo a few weeks ago and dd said "Well, at least there is no mouldy food in mine. As far as I know." Uh, there was, but it was more sort of ... mummified than mouldy.

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2014 11:02

Have not, so far, unearthed any food, but have barely touched the surface. Have opened the window to get rid of the smell of festering socks and wet trainers.

I'm glad your mum has decided that option, Rudy.

I must say I'm shocked at SchadenDaughter's bedroom. I second MI's suggestion of just leaving it to fester, including rotting clothes, for the shock value when she returns from her (hopefully contrastingly pristine) Texan holiday home.

Rosebag · 17/07/2014 11:23

Herbs relieved to see the bullying may have calmed down…I get very hot under the collar about that sort of thing. Sorry about the work situation…Sad
MrsS great that DD arrived safely in the wild west. What an adventure! My DS similarly, but in the wild east…seems fine and is hiking in the desert today and riding camels. Dunno why we've got a heatwave warning here…its 42 degrees out there.
Rudy hoping that your DM will be able to move towards a decision re. surgery. Is that what the further tests are for?
MI hope you sort out child care. My DD breaks up a week early and she's big, can stay home alone but I have a thing about her being glued to screens all day. Have been roped in to taking her and 3 other girls to the mall next Wednesday Hmm
NU story of my life re DH and the other inhabitants of this merry abode. They drop/leave everything in situ.
Stropps MrsS Grin re. smelly rotting festering kids rooms. Tell me though…DS2 has nothing decomposing in his room as far as I can tell…it just smells…is there an anti-adolescent boy smell product anywhere? Well, he is away for a month…that might help I suppose.

I am beyond tired. The tension of the last week has taken its toll. Hoping the cease fire holds. DD is coping very well with her dress runs/shows every night this week…me, on the other hand…….We're watching on Sat night. It had better be good.

Rosebag · 17/07/2014 11:24

Rudy cross post. Good call I think. Thanks

Blackduck · 17/07/2014 11:46

MrsS I think DD may have more soft toys than ds (but only just) - his lurk between the bed and the window.

He did call me down this morning to show me the crumbs on his bed 'not me' he said. I think the dog had a crafty biscuit.......

Good luck Rudy with Dmum - hope plan works out!

motherinferior · 17/07/2014 12:48

Good call from here too, Rudy. How is her health generally?

I would like, please, to inform you that DD1's report was terrific and she has progressed two full levels in maths and science this academic year.GrinGrinGrinGrin

Now I shall go back to grumbling about them.Smile

Stropperella · 17/07/2014 13:01

That's some serious progress, MI. Well done, big Inferiorette.

Rudy, glad your mum's made her decision.

Rosebag, hope you get time to de-stress soon. Gah, hiking in the desert? Rather him than me.

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2014 13:11

Glad to hear your mum has decided Rudy, and that you have a plan. Hope it includes the meet-up, your hols and wedding, etc.

Re smelly DDs and rooms, mine is not smelly but thatbis only because of my lovely cleaner!

MI glad to hear your DD1s report was good - there seems to be some slippage on DDs, not surprisingly as it seems to be more like a soap opera than a learning environment at their school ATM.

herbaceous · 17/07/2014 13:32

< grits teeth>

One of my NCT friends, towards the madder end of the spectrum, has announced her third baby is on its way. This is of course lovely. But she is bitterly disappointed that it's a girl (discovered at the 20 week scan) and is already asking us how we conceived our boys. She was disappointed that her first was a girl, even more disappointed that her second was, and made no attempt to hide it, even from said daughter, and the whole reason they tried for a third (with all that Sheckels bullshit) was for a boy. This makes me SEETHE for so many obvious reasons.

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2014 13:34

Oh Herbs, how sad.

motherinferior · 17/07/2014 13:36
Sad
herbaceous · 17/07/2014 13:40

I get the feeling she almost 'promised' her DH a boy. I knew all this, and knew that whatever this baby turned out to be it would be a problem. If it's a girl it will be yet another disappointment; if it's a boy he'll be treated like a prince.
