Online not line.

margaritasbythesea · 11/07/2014 21:21

Nice skirt and a good price. Pity I live 300 miles away from zara!

BillStickersIsInnocent · 11/07/2014 21:31

Nice dress MissBee.

Getting excited by all the new season stuff coming in...I do love autumn/winter clothes, especially for work. I find summer work dressing really hard.

Bought a lovely fine merino pink/orange/red jumper from Me and Em but haven't had the chance to wear it yet. Also bought the Jaegar navy bag linked upthread, hope it'll be a good one!

Brillenbar · 11/07/2014 22:00

Not quite workwear, or indeed even slightly ... I bought this dress www.fashiongonerogue.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/printed-floral-dress-zara.jpg which is no longer on zara website and I really really like it and have convinced myself I don't look like a mad middle aged 1950s housewife. I wanted to wear it tomorrow. Any ideas what to put over it to not freeze? Denim jacket or cropped black cardi is all I can think of. Thanks all x

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2014 22:05

What are you doing? Denim jacket good for relaxed, summery look.

Brillenbar · 11/07/2014 22:09

Going to parents in law. So relaxed. Because it's so nipped in at the waist I think it needs to be cropped and Although I've been wearing more blazers a blazer is wrong. Maybe dd1s denim jacket will be short enough. Thanks Remus.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2014 22:10

Yes to cropped - and no to a cardigan!

Littlepinkpear · 11/07/2014 23:55

The &otherstories website has refreshed itself with a lot more sizes available in sale stock.

I have ordered a silk blouse and finally! got my hands on this in black and white. It had sold out when I tried to buy it previously.

Brillenbar - another denim jacket vote. I just cut the collar off mine and like it more that way.

pinkpear - that top is superb - beautiful quality in RL. I'm getting the black, but wish the cream suited me.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/07/2014 07:07

I'm also buying this www.stories.com/gb/Sale/Bags/Leather_pouch/590753-2693898.1

margaritasbythesea · 12/07/2014 07:11

Has anyone seen this in Other Stories?

margaritasbythesea · 12/07/2014 07:15

By the way, their nail varnish is fab. I bought a blue one and it lasted on my toes brilliantly.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/07/2014 08:17

Anyone else having trouble seeing their shopping bag on & OTher Stories, in order to check out? So annoying! Same problem on both my iPad and my laptop

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/07/2014 08:18

margaritas - I haven't seen that particular bag, but it looks like a great buy (their leather goods are v good - I have a yellow bag from there that hasn't a scratch on it, despite much use).

Littlepinkpear · 12/07/2014 10:10

I have a black leather bag from &OS and it's lovely - I find the accessories very good quality.

Belinda my checkout from the website crashed twice, I expect another email saying my order cannot be fulfilled. The website is terrible. I was on my iPhone when trying if it makes any difference I don't know.

I must be insane - so keen that I called customer services and placed my order that way. The £6 delivery charge rankles. Still, I wanted the discounted items more.

thepurplepenguin · 12/07/2014 11:19

Just ordered the Mango draped jersey dress that was recommended upthread, so thank you for that. Plus an uptown blouse in stone to take me over the minimum for free postage. Have only ever bought skinny jeans in Mango before, and I'd say I'm probably about a 7 in those (6 v close fitting, 8 a little loose). So I ordered the dress in an 8 as I don't want it to be too tight and the top in a 6 as it looks boxy. Bit of a shot in the dark so hope they fit!!

Interesting article about what happens to our old clothing including the statistic that the average women has 4 x as many clothes now as in the 1980s:

Merriboo · 12/07/2014 15:47

Afternoon all, just on catch up Smile started a new role last Monday and haven't had chance to post. Interestingly there is a slightly different dress code here... Smart capris/pencil skirts the norm previously, now it's all dresses- and sleeveless seem acceptable.
Up to now anyway.
Sooo... I'm looking to increase my frock/jacket wardrobe range Grin

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 12/07/2014 20:21

Bearleigh - that is an interesting article. I have many more clothes than I used to (clothes are more expensive in Australia, where I grew up). Even if you take moving to a "cheaper" country, clothes wise, out of the picture, you can see how many more clothes women have now, compared to, say 100 years ago, by looking at antique wardrobes. Even rich women had only a portion of what most women have now, and their wardrobes were, accordingly, quite small.

I have just discovered the Levo League website and am really impressed by some of their articles, such as this one on why it's a good idea to dress like your boss. Reasons include that it indicates how aware you are of the company's culture and that you are committed to sending out the same messages about the company. Also, it mentions that old mantra of dressing for the job you want. Here: www.levo.com/articles/career-advice/work-fashion-tips-dressing-like-the-boss

Are the Darling Dorsays the recommended heels from Office? The black is now in the sale (think it was just the snakeskin before?) and I'm tempted. Can't link as on phone sorry. Has anyone got them and are they comfortable?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 13/07/2014 03:30

Yes, they are the ones. Brillenbar, I believe, has them?

Bearleigh · 13/07/2014 06:07

That Levo article is interesting, although looking at the photo, while I agree that buying the same Zara top shows you're buying into the culture some bosses might not like it if junior staff start buying a Prada bag...

I'd noticed too how small wardrobes from the past are, and that that must show how few clothes people had then. Certainly I have bought more clothes in the last 4 years because we moved & I got a huge new wardrobe. Now it's full, so I have a 'one in one out' policy, so I haven't bought much for a while. Something has to be really special, or to make a difference, to justify buying it, & that concentrates the mind. Also I no longer work near Oxford Street, so I can't just pop in in my lunch hour.

Are clothes still more expensive in Australia Belinda?

Brillenbar · 13/07/2014 07:40

I do have the office darling dorsays in both black and snakeskin. I find the v comfortable and have had a lot of wear out of both. The black are not as lovely as the black Alana dorsay from hobbs. But then, the are a fraction of the price at 30 quid. I'm a 5 to 5.5 and the 5 fits fine.

maybemyrtle · 13/07/2014 08:26

Thank you so much!
