What do DH's do at a prom? No, Tilly they're just going in mixed groups of friends apparently to a bar/club somewhere in Covent Garden. There has been much booking of Addison Lee's there and back. Ds is staying over night at a friend's house so hope all will be ok. When DS1 had his, they came back on the night bus at 3am…I waited up!

lalsy · 26/06/2014 13:23

Loving the sandals and the dresses. I've just bought these in brown sparkly and black sparkly to replace the brown sparkly I had last year...finger on the pulse, me. Thick soles on sandals very important I think, MI.

QQ, I found university open days exhausting, though perhaps partly because dd hated them. I enjoyed the train journeys though - we usually managed to get talking to people who had been to other ones and told us about them, which gave a pleasing Bogoff feeling to the whole enterprise, and ran into folk she had done swimming lessons or whatever with 15 years ago Smile.

lalsy · 26/06/2014 13:24

Also love the idea of a crepey dh-only prom Grin.

Rosebag · 26/06/2014 13:25

Dad dancing Grin

Stropperella · 26/06/2014 13:30

I have some of those 2-strap Birkies I bought years ago, but they are just too utilitarian for someone who is already short and sturdy and I now use them for gardening. I have an aged pair of these and also another gold pair that I bought last year, although they are somewhat odd. I bought them from a German Amazon Marketplace seller and it turned out that they are obviously originally a peachy/coral pair that he just sprayed gold, as the entire insole is also gold. At first I was going to complain, but actually have had loads of compliments about them, so I left it. Grin

wordassociationfootball · 26/06/2014 13:35

Lalsy like the train chat Bogof idea.

Arfed at the idea QQ was ignoring Herbs' declaration of platonic lady love dream. Herbs, IME there's always summer scheme type childcare available if you need it. Hope true up your way.

Yes, BTM, I think my dream India was an MI/Mrs S mash up.

V glad for baby's safe arrival NU

Love it when there's an S&B postfest, like we might get chucked off otherwise. Looking forward to tomorrow night. What to wear.....?

these little beauties were my last purchase.

Ha ha, see what I did there? Latest in detective work on knackeredness in morning. I do snore. It is a likely culprit.

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 13:38

ROFL! He's there in his professional capacity. No, not escort, he's a Deputy in a comp! I hope (for the students sake) he won't be doing any dancingShock

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 13:40

WAFGrin are you going to wear your nasal dilators on Friday then?!

herbaceous · 26/06/2014 13:51

I had a hideous dream last night, that darling DS only had a month to live. I was distraught, and had to wake myself up to make sure it wasn't true.

Just returned from his sports day, where much fun was had. I had a lovely chat with the mum of a classmate, a boy who is also into Frozen, doesn't like the fighting that goes on in the playground, and who is a gentle soul. We're going to try and get them together..

Her second child was born at 24 WEEKS! She weighed 700g, and fitted into a hand. She's now a lively and lovely little girl.

I want some of the classic fugly Arizona birkies, but fear they will be out of fashion next year, and for the following 20. As these cycles tend to go.

I'm still trying to break in my gizehs!

Rosebag · 26/06/2014 14:09

Laughing Tilly. Wish the staff got involved in our prom. I think they run for the hills. The kids do it, prom committee..the lot. Oh the arguments Oh the rows!!!
Herbs my DS2 wasn't in to football and was scared of even play- fighting. He played with the girls until the sexes polarised (around year 3, maybe) and then was at a bit of a loss until the other boys grew up a bit. I worried about him horribly but when I look at him now I wish I hadn't…he's grown up in to a self assured, confident young man…and he LOVES Frozen… (aged 16 and a half ) he has bought the score and is teaching himself to play the songs on the piano. Go your DS! Great taste in films and music Smile

NUFC69 · 26/06/2014 14:20

Herbs, lovely to hear about the prem baby; a friend's GS was a similar early arrival and weighed 535g. I can remember getting out the scales - he weighed an apple, a peach and a tomato! He's a thriving 8 yo now.

We are hoping to see micro NU at four this afternoon. DDil has been discharged and visited SCBU at the other hospital.

Love the clothes, particularly the White Stuff dress.

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 14:57

Rose that's a lovely story about your DS - it's great when they "find" themselvesSmile

motherinferior · 26/06/2014 15:37

Are FitFlops worth a go, Lalsy? I've wondered....

lalsy · 26/06/2014 16:03

Well I love them, MI. I over-pronate, wear shoes down quickly, have generally difficult feet and am prone to falling over, so summer shoe options thin on the ground for me. I used to wear Birkies but find these better for me. Am considering a pair of their boots for winter.

motherinferior · 26/06/2014 16:54

HERRRBs, would you be a case study for me? am just emailing you...

addle · 26/06/2014 16:55

Congratulations on micro NU, NU! Lovely news and such a relief. hope you're having a lovely time, even as I write

So sorry about ddog Beachy. DH and I sobbed our way to and from the vet's with our elderly cat

I have fugly but comfortable sandals from TK Maxx called Malu super comfort but sadly can't find a pic. And talking of shoes, will bring shoes mentioned a few threads back with me tomorrow. Looking forward to it

motherinferior · 26/06/2014 17:05

ooooooooooooooooooooyes!

I have to find a parent of smallish child, hence hunt for Herbs.

herbaceous · 26/06/2014 17:44

Woo hoo! Did you get my message MI?

wordassociationfootball · 26/06/2014 17:54

Can recommend the chewy and tasty Doves farm organic brown rice fusili.

(That is, without doubt the most middle class thing I have ever written. Should I laugh or cry? Grin)

Off for an 'interactive' talk now about how to change your mood. Taking DD1. Fear it might put her in the kind of grumpy mood in a way she won't change, although she seems quite sunny at the mo.

Rosebag · 26/06/2014 18:20

Smile Tilly

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 18:24

WAF, must see if Tesco stock itWink
And please forward any tips to me - DD has come in in a worse grump than ever.

Only 24 hours to go... I might already be swaying in the corner by the time you all get there!

NUFC69 · 26/06/2014 18:29

Boo hoo, didn't get to hospital because we decided it was too much for DDil (I do understand, but would have loved to have seen him today). So we went for a ride with the top down on the car!

Thank goodness they didn't have proms when DC finished high school - they just had a simple dance, nice dresses and suits for the lads. I am a big fan of some things American, but not all the over-the-top stuff.

We're having DGS1 overnight tomorrow whilst Dd goes to a concert somewhere in Yorkshire, it will be easier for SIL if he doesn't have to cope with two of them during the wee small hours.

I generally either wear sandals (summer, obviously) or boots (winter), I hate shoes and have so many pairs that I can't wear which I bought in a fit of optimism that these were going to be the ones.

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 18:32

Sorry you didn't get to meet your new DGS, tomorrow hopefully?

We didn't even have that back in my daySad Though as my all girls grammar school was anal about not talking to boys over the wall, I doubt it would have been much fun anyway!

Stropperella · 26/06/2014 18:46

Wish I could wear FitFlops but I can't get my feet in them as my instep is too high and my feet are too wide. I tried pretty hard but it wasn't going to happen.

Another thing that is probably not going to happen is me getting an interview for the job I've applied for. We are supposed to hear by tomorrow, but I've realised (duh!) that there are probably plenty of people applying who have proper experience in the relevant area - which I haven't. I need to get some experience and am now wondering if I can find somewhere to volunteer for a half-day a week next term while still carrying on with what I'm doing now. Assuming that enough work comes in to pay the bills. I don't know what to do. Sad I'm trying to think of more people I can talk to - will have to try the middle schools. Am also wondering if I should use savings to fund some kind of course, but I don't think you can even take a course until you've got some experience.

Auriga · 26/06/2014 18:50

Sorry again Beachy, really can't keep up v well by dipping in on phone.

Another rehearsal for friend's memorial service tonight, then actual service tomorrow. Irritated by critical, undermining conductor, who's sucking all the joy out of the beautiful music she chose. He was the reason I left that choir. Must rise above it all serenely and remember it's for our friend, not him.
