Way to go Herbs Smile

I like those sandals, Rudy. I like the lemon ones.

Sackings very unexpected. Took out a layer of team leaders. The average age in our office has reduced substantially....

cremolafoam · 25/06/2014 19:53

Gosh Beachy - seriously harsh!
Bloody hell.

Go herbs go herbs go herbs !

Stropperella · 25/06/2014 20:06

Herbs, maybe you will be able to buy the items of furniture I have been writing about today. A shelf costing £200,000, anyone?

motherinferior · 25/06/2014 20:17

bigTillyMint · 25/06/2014 20:53

Stropps, sounds like your DD is having funEnvy

Oh it's all about yoof these days. I'm under no illusion that my career is not going anywhere, and it certainly won't be if BB has anything to do with it. I have been taken off my next project but no-one has actually had the courtesy to tell me this officially. After a lot of unanswered emails, and ignored phone calls, someone finally picked up. And when asked, finally admitted that they had asked for someone else as they didn't think my three weeks leave in the middle would work. This is the leave that BB denied signing off, because she didn't want to admit to overlooking it, when she allocated me the project. Yeah, good luck with finding someone who can do six weeks in July and August and who is taking no leave.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 25/06/2014 21:56

And re the check ups - DH absolutely doesn't get how stressful this is. Four of my relatives have died from this form of cancer, another has it and has been given two months to live, and my mother is in remission. I think that's quite scary, no? Had the added joyous news that people who have this cancer are often more susceptible to pancreatic cancer as well.

bigTillyMint · 25/06/2014 22:18

Cremo, you can never have enough sandals. Like bootsWink

MrsS, that is sooo worrying for youSad Do you think your DH is in denial about it? Or is he trying to be very off-hand/positive to try to stop you fretting?
I find DH hates it when I keep fretting about something and just wants to box off all my concerns and shut me up whereas I need to talk about my worries. Thank God for female friends!

I love my Fly London sandals too.

Rosebag · 25/06/2014 23:07

cremo DD is doing ok if still very tired and a bit under the weather. She loved all of the trip from the camel/ donkey rides in the desert to the night at the Bedouin camp, swimming in the Dead Sea and lake Tiberius etc. She found the hikes a bit much at times...she has a terrible gait and has habitual knee pain which troubled her.
MrsS the stress of check ups and waiting for results of tests is very real. It's hard for people whose lives haven't been touched by cancer to appreciate the anxiety and preoccupation that the threat of it brings.
QQ that's ok???maybe another time. Not that I drink much. I'm a bit embarrassing like that Blush

originalpiratematerial · 25/06/2014 23:18

motherinferior - what a very kind thought - that would be terrific. Although I couldn't do this Friday, no matter what the location, as am doing this 10k thingumajig on Saturday.

CointreauVersial · 25/06/2014 23:53

Herbs - well done on the lucrative work. And I'm with you on the wheat thing - I feel myself literally inflating if I eat a bread roll. I think it's the worst of the carbs for me; doesn't mean I don't cheat, mind.

Beachy - what a week. Sad that you had to say goodbye to your poor ailing dog. Work sounds miserable too - we had our own "night of the long knives" about three years ago - much the same whispering and tears in the corridor.

MrsS - how worrying. But I guess more monitoring is better than less.

Work has been a killer this week - a "perfect storm" of deadlines (two tomorrow and an audit on Monday) means that I have kissed goodbye to attending DD2's last Sports Day, which is tomorrow.

But on a lighter note, I’ve been spending money. Hands up who wants to see what I’ve been buying recently…..

This Zara teeshirt.

This scuba skirt, to brighten my working day (and wind up DD1, who hates it).

This holiday handbag, which will withstand the beaches in Cornwall but isn’t so massive that I can’t lug it round an art gallery without knocking precious things flying.

This Boden dress in the turquoise. Sod “Casual Weekend”, it’s just right for work.

These lace-ups. Which haven’t arrived yet and might well be hideous.

I did find a gorgeous red linen shirt and some matching sandals, and a stripy blue and white jacket in the charity shop. And an extremely bargainous bra and a floaty cream top in Primark….

I also ordered this in the mushroomy colour, but it’s going back. A bit too bleurgh in colour.

Last but not least, I ordered (eeek) a couple of swimsuits. I would rather try them on in the comfort of my own bedroom, I think.

I’m exhausted just typing all this.

Blackduck · 26/06/2014 06:03

CV I love that dress!! (I love a dress with pockets - very tempted....)
Dexeys was AWESOME - Most of the latest album and Come on Eileen :)

Very tired as have had 6 hors sleep and off to work!

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 06:39

CV, what a haul! I have a dress very similar to that and it's perfect for work.
And Rudy, Fly sandals are cool!

Glad to hear Dexy's was fun BD

I have been tasked with shortening the straps on a new very body-con dress DD has bought for a couple of upcoming parties. She looks great in it - would be just the kind of thing I would have worn back in my yoofSmile

NUFC69 · 26/06/2014 06:52

It's a boy, 4 lb 15, lovely name. I had a text from DS at 9.30 to say that they were all in bed and hoped to stay there. When I switched on mobile earlier 2 texts saying baby had arrived at 2.09 so not a long labour if you disregard the many days before! Unfortunately not enough cots in Special Care so has had to be transferred to another hospital. They are hoping to go to see him when DDil is discharged. Phew.

Love the clothes buying, particularly the Zara t.

Well done, Herbs - it'll be good to have some extra cash I would think.

MrsS, I am rather like your DH, I can't talk about things in RL which is why the Internet is so good for me as at least I can type them. Monitoring is good, if worrying. My DM died of breast cancer but only one in the family (touch wood).

bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 07:00

Oh congratulations, NUCakeFlowersWine How fantastic!

hattymattie · 26/06/2014 07:01

Oh NU - many congratulations you must be so relieved.

Herbs - congrats also and doubly so for winning the contract while killing a wasp!

Mrs SSad - for job and check ups - scary and a chore - I find men are bad at understanding this sort of stuff unless it affects them!

Today history oral - half an hour on anywhere on the planet since the war. DD had an enormous a!mount of material to learn - I know as I went through it with her yesterday.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 26/06/2014 07:19

Oh Hatty, that sounds a challenge! Good Luck to your DDSmile

lalsy · 26/06/2014 07:44

Yaaah NU, what lovely news. Many congratulations. ThanksGrin

Hatty, that sounds hideous. Very good luck to her. Is that it then? dd is sooo happy, her room has only been partly sorted and she is out a lot.

MrsS, of course it is worrying - I hope having more frequent check ups might mean they come to seem routine rather than being extra worrying? (like controlled assessments). Men are odd about worries, often IME espousing the theory that there is a worry tap one can switch off at will.

beachyhead · 26/06/2014 07:44

Congratulations NU. Great weight for 34 weeks Grin

That is a haul CV. Must check on your Cornwall plans as I am going for a week with our mutual friend. That would be strange if we all ended up in the same camp site!

First day at home with no builders today. Heaven! But I need to go to the dentist which is going to be bad....

herbaceous · 26/06/2014 07:53

Hooray for micro-NU! Glad he arrived safe and sound.

And boo, once again, to DH and BB Mrs S. Some serious arse-kicking is required on all fronts, I feel.

The job is just a short project, rewriting the website of the architecture practice my friend works for. As yet unclear when exactly this will be, which could be tricky with childcare, if it falls in the summer hols and all summer schools are booked up... The wasp killing was during an interview for a feature!

Auriga · 26/06/2014 08:00

Wow, a day on this thread really is a long time!

Congratulations to all the NUFC family Thanks

Well done on the job, Herbs.

MrsS, sorry to hear about the long-term surveillance. It will always be hard to put it behind you in any case but it would surely help to be discharged from clinic and told they don't need to see you again.

Beachy, sympathies on the death of DDog. And on the cull at work. The two coming together must be awful.

lalsy · 26/06/2014 08:26

Beachy, what a ghastly week, so sorry about DDog.
