Here we are crepeys - Friday 13th!

OP posts:
beachyhead · 20/06/2014 10:13

That place is quite extraordinary, MI. Very Animal Farm Grin

My dog is very ill - it's heart breaking hearing him wheeze and cough. We are off to the heart vet at 11am. Wish us luck. I'm missing sports day, but dd2, for once, has been very understanding. I keep crying in front of the builders Sad

herbaceous · 20/06/2014 10:18

Oh Beachy. Sad Poor doggy. I hope it's nothing too hideous.

Rosebag · 20/06/2014 10:38

Fantastic Stropps whoop whoop. Making a big career change in, erm... middle life is a significant achievement ( I retrained in my forties), and the SEN arena is always in need of excellent and experienced practitioners who can adapt their skills and training from one aspect of the field to another.

Mother sorry for your passport angst but your adventure to that other- worldly place in India looks amazing. Makes my life seem very flat and boring (which is it…) in comparison. Envy

Beachy poor dog, poor you. I hope the vet can make him more comfortable.Sad

herbs good luck at the dentist. It will be ok.

I am feeling very flat today..I don't know why. DD is coming home on Sunday from her travels. I have to admit I've been enjoying my freedom a little too much. DS, having finished his exams is loafing around and fleecing me…a few quid for this, a few quid for that…all mounting up. I taught a new class last night…all lovely. Co- script writer joined us for research purposes. He says he's going to work on setting my lyrics to music but wants them to be a bit "earthier"…whatever the f that means.

Incidentally, does anyone live in or near the Hammersmith area? It looks like I'm doing a bit of work at Riverside Studios on Tues afternoon…anyone free and near enough for a coffee?

Blackduck · 20/06/2014 11:23

Oh Beachy :( and Herbs....

After the cr*p earlier in the week I am catching up on all the emails that just got parked.

Ds is hoping for the part of Buttons in Cinderella Rockafella (if he doesn't get it I may not go home) and has rounders tournament today....

I think a quiet weekend and a BBQ beckons.

cremolafoam · 20/06/2014 11:24

MI your cousin sounds fantastic, and that place she lives is incredible. Does she still dance? I love the idea of a German toyboy.Grin Will you be staying with her?

Herbs best of luck for the dental visit. Always more worrying than reality , and hopefully you will get to the bottom of the jaw ache. Strength !!!

Stropps you are doings the right thing .II wish I had the confidence to break free of the comfy sofa of public service and do something more creative again . I struggle endlessly with the lack of contribution I make to the world. I am in no way making the world a better place and it rankles.

Beachy I am so sad for the doggySad
Poor woofer and poor you. Hope vet can do some magic.

Dd is light as a feather this morning. I forgot she can smile. #miracle

herbaceous · 20/06/2014 11:28

In other (frivolous) news - ToT is now minus 4, in total. Three pounds down on last week! I'm putting it down to my 'no wheat' diet. It's been a relevation. No acid stomach, no pain under the breastbone, no (or hardly any) IBS, much-improve rosacea, and no bloated belly.

Off to a 50th birthday party tomorrow night, with dearest old pals, with the theme 'hair'. I've got a wizard's wig and beard, DP has a blond wig (to contrast with his (real) dark beard), and a gay couple – one very tall, one not – are going as Jedward. One had bought a two-foot-high Marie Antoinette wig from America, but it's stuck in customs.

My ladyfriend P is adding a chest wig.

I think I'm going to spend a lot of tomorrow night laughing, which is greatly called for.

motherinferior · 20/06/2014 11:42

Go Herbs! I have to admit my resumption of Ladyjogging has deflated me somewhat. I probably weigh the same, mind.

Cremo, we will indeed be staying with her. In the middle of the forest. I think we will be there for German chap's 40th (he looks much older, it must be said!). She doesn't dance any more (she was a choreographer as well and generally Arty) though does a lot of er guess what (clue: it's the Practice That Mr Inferior Indulges In Too).

cremolafoam · 20/06/2014 12:09

Oh yeah , nod nod wink wink.

I am forcing myself not to say " cult! Cult!"

I've never been a joiner Grin

beachyhead · 20/06/2014 12:39

Well, they've kept him in for the day to 'stabilise' him. Ironically, it was at the QQ Crepey meet up that he was in being diagnosed with his heart problem, now here we are financially and physically a lot lighter (him, not me!) and he is back in..... Still, best place for him and all that c**p....I'm off for a long walk in the woods with healthy dog.

Stropperella · 20/06/2014 12:54

Oh Beachy, I am really sorry to hear about your dog. So young too. :( I am also very sorry to report that we aren't going to be able to come to your Camp Night as the blasted roof panels for our fox-proof chicken coop haven't turned up (they should have arrived this morning) and now won't be here until Monday, so we're unable to leave them as they will all get eaten. :( I am majorly narked by this as we have worked flat-out to try and resolve this issue. I am Not Pleased that Reynard is preventing us from going away.

Thanks for all the encouragement re: job. Must now crack on with the application.

Herbs, sounds like that will be a fab party. Grin

BD, dd's year did Cinderella Rockafella in Y6. She surprised everyone - including herself - by auditioning and getting the part of Fairy Liquid. I remember ds really enjoyed watching it and still talks about it now. He would now kill for a part like Buttons. He had his Youth Theatre performances last week - a musical morality play Hmm. Actually, it was very good and went very well. He had to sing the first solo song. I was reasonably impressed.

herbaceous · 20/06/2014 12:57

DS does love his drama classes. But we're under strict instructions (complete with tears and quavering voice) NOT to laugh or smile at any part of the performance. I tried to explain the difference between laughing 'at' someone and 'with' them, but it didn't cut any ice.

Blackduck · 20/06/2014 13:12

Herbs I remember ds being like that - they do grow out of it!

Stropps ds's best friend wants to be Fairy Liquid!

Damn the fox......

motherinferior · 20/06/2014 13:13

DD1 has outing with her youth theatre group tomorrow. She is taking all this thespiana Very Seriously Indeed.

herbaceous · 20/06/2014 13:13

Oh, and dentist was OK! They're all so lovely in there. I've got an infection, so have been given anti-Bs. BUT if it keeps getting worse, I'll have to have the tooth out, possibly a bone graft, and an implant. Sounds rather ££££££££££££££££££££.

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2014 13:14

Beachy, sorry to hear about your poor doggy. And sorry for Stropps not being able to make it to the camp.

herbs, your party sounds fun!

motherinferior · 20/06/2014 13:15

WELL DONE HERBS.

bigTillyMint · 20/06/2014 13:18

Herbs, good that the dentists went OK, less so the £££.

Mine are not thesps (same as DH and I) so not a surprise that DD has dropped drama. God knows why she signed up in the first place!

NUFC69 · 20/06/2014 13:29

Waved DFr off on a very full London train and breathed a big sigh of relief that our latest round of visitors is over. I am going to have a quiet afternoon ('though I have a mountain of ironing to do).

I envy all those with budding thespians - my DC would rather have slit their throats than done anything like that. My DNephew studied drama at uni and now teaches it at a secondary school - if my DC had had a teacher like him they might have enjoyed it.

Congratulations to those whose DC hsve finished their exams - all over now until next time.

BD, so sorry to hear about your DDog: fingers crossed that the vet can help.

motherinferior · 20/06/2014 13:50

DD1 is just a show-off. No idea where she gets it from.

I am writing about diabetic retinopathy. It is rather complicated.

originalpiratematerial · 20/06/2014 16:27

Beachy Sad - I'm very sorry to hear about your dog.

originalpiratematerial · 20/06/2014 16:29

My DS2 is a bit of a thesp too and he CERTAINLY didn't get it from me. Or his dad. Weird. He's rehearsing for something called Barbican Box atm and is in seventh heaven about it all. Performance is in three weeks' time.

herbaceous · 20/06/2014 16:49

I think DS may have inherited his dramatic urges. My mum's always sung, her father I think did am dram, and various cousins were actors and singers. My dad's mum and dad met on the stage. There's no hope for him.

QueenQueenie · 20/06/2014 19:06

Hope you have a fab time tonight Beachy!
Hope ddog is less poorly too...

QueenQueenie · 20/06/2014 19:17

...or a fab time tomorrow in fact...

And good luck to you tonight Auriga. Would love to have come but family dictates otherwise...
