I had never heard of it squoosh! All these years I thought I had dry skin (it's actually dry too but mainly dehydrated) and was spending  on fecking rosehip oil that other people raved about, and wondering why it still left my skin feeling tight as hell. Now I use a mix of water based and oil based skincare and skin is just wonderful. So thanks Sali

She's pretty explicit on her Guardian column that she isn't paid for her reviews but if you have evidence to the contrary I'd love to hear it.

She's a paid journalist for a newspaper that isn't anywhere near as beholden to the beauty companies for advertising as the glossy mags are, therefore more likely to have some journalistic integrity than much of the beauty world. She was also a MUA for a long whileso lived and breathed product befire she got into writing about them. I'll believe her over most.

I am trying to think what I've bought that I didn't like, and really her recs have been pretty good. I was a complete novice a year ago and now I use and like/love the following, all of which came from her: Batiste dry shampoo, Body Shop Vitamin E night cream, Body Shop Nutriganics cleansing gel, Sleek blusher, Clarins blue orchid oil, Olay Regenerist serum, hot cloth cleansing method, Aquis Lisse hair towel, fringe drying method. They're my staples, my skin and hair have never been better and all but the Clarins oil are high street prices.

Nope, can't think of any Sali duds, or at least they're forgotten due to the wealth of good tips and products I've picked up from her

Here are her recommendations for antiageing
I know that she throws in some cheap bits for us plebs but generally, generally I'd say she says positive things about brands that bung her loads or that spend money with the newspaper group generally.
Brands that she uses as a MUA and that are equally happy to receive the endless endorsement Laura Mercia and NARS...they may not pay her but I dare say she might receive other encouragements?

I expect nothing else. No one expects her to do it for free or in a vacuum it's her job but influence is made in many small ways. Blogging and writing columns means that she is paid in a variety of ways. By advertising on the blog. By products she is gifted with the expectation that she makes a review perhaps. By invitations and opportunities granted. Over time these positives might make it harder for her to be completely straightforward about a brand or its products. This is before we start with the fact that she is writing a column for the Guardian and it isn't purely a blog piece.

I like her pieces where she applies make up. I find her recommendations mostly tosh endlessly spun around the false advertising of the cosmetics industry of which she relies upon completely for her income.

Goodness, well obviously she gets paid for her column. What I'm saying is that I personally don't think she's bribed to give products a favourable review.

She writes for Harpers Bazaar, they all have posh names. It's like pininterest's my immaculately dressed toddler daughter only it's REAL.

She gives genuinely good advice.
