I really like Sali - ok so she's not as warm as Lisa Eldridge but we can't all be the same. I like her no nonsense style, I think she's an excellent interviewer on her 'In The Bathroom With...' videos - she's very good at shutting up and listening to people. Love her feminism and her absolute insistence that being interested in style and beauty is nothing to be ashamed of, in the way that sports fans are not made to feel ashamed of their interest. I love how she refuses to test rubbish like cellulite gel and bust firming cream. And like Lisa Eldridge, she recommends products that cover a wide range of prices, from very affordable to dear-lord-in-heaven Smile

Oh, should say, I've not had any disastrous purchases as I don't like her delivery, as it were. I have bought some good stuff on Lisa E's recommendation, though.

Nope, don't like the woman. I'm not sure why. I think it's because I find her condescending and I think she'd be the kind of woman "on the counters" who gravitates to the customer who's "buying" and not the woman who needs a bit of help/encouragement. Could be wrong.

Whereas, I love Lisa Eldridge. She just seems genuine and lovely, to me.

Hell, for Creme De La Mer prices, I'd want a whole new face! Grin

For me, half the fun is in trying new stuff. I'm thrilled with the new nivea serum which really is lovely.

Would be very interested to hear how you get on with that L'Oréal stuff.

Another big yes vote for the W7 eyeshadow dupes of the naked pallettes.I got one for about £4 and it's no different from my dior, chanel, lauder shadows. A brilliant, brilliant buy.

Err, actually, I have no idea Flippin Blush. Their cleansing oil is not good - just mineral oil with some other bits. I just binned it. But their anti ageing cleansing wipes seem fine, and that serum gets fantastic reviews, as well as Sali's recommendation. If I hate it, I can just throw it out and move on, like I did w the Body Shop Vit E one. I had some Creme De La Mer serum stuff and it was OK, but, frankly, I'd want to look 15 years younger and much hotter to justify the cost.

One thing I like about Sali is that she explains / mentions the importance of key ingredients, which demystifies some of this whole beauty malarkey. Also means you can assess products, more easily, yourself.

I've never used L'Oreal skincare stuff. Is it any good? They seem to be slowly taking over the shelves in Boots and Superdrug.

I'm sure you'll all be fascinated to hear that, actually, I've returned the Soap & Glory serum, in favour of another of Sali's budget serum recommendations - the Loreal laser renew serum. Lots of reviews said the S&P serum packaging is duff.

Slightly off topic- but can someone decode the new fangled grey shading of posts- that used to be reserved for Mumsnet HQ comments.

(As in a few posts down from here.)

Is it a type of warning /wrist slap for cheeky posts?

More to the point, who cares about some idiot who writes for the press anyway purporting an unbiased view.

Enough said.

I quite like her - I think she writes well and have bought several of her recommendations and been pleased with them. However, lately I think she isn't paying enough attention to her column and I am beginning to wonder if she has got too busy with her new interests to really do justice to it. It always seems very hurried, too short and less personal.

I bought Estee Lauder gentle 'acid' toner on her recommendation ( via Mumsnet!!!) - Perfectly Clean, summit like that- and it is like paint stripper. There is no way it is suitable for any skin, let alone sensitive and bordering on dry. Complete waste of £22.

I think sometimes she just trawls the web and comes up with a few new products to add to her column- I don't believe she has tested them all or even investigated the ingredients- EL toner is almost pure alcohol.

One of the best finds I've had recently is W7 eye shadow palletes.
Got it off Amazon for about £6.

It is a dupe for the naked pallete.
It seriously lasts all day without budging.
