Dp is dyeing his hair and wants your advice

Dp has booked an appointment at our local hairdressers after much personal debate have his hair dyed professionally. There was an incident with box dye so he's not going down that road again.

He's going blonde but he's not sure how blonde or which kind of blonde to go. I can't really advise him as I've never dyed my hair. And I'm completely different to him in terms of colouring. He's agreed to ask the collective wisdom of mumsnet.

Thanks in advance. Smile

He looks so pleased with himself! He loves it and feels confident so I guess that's all that matters.

Just a shame he looks like Trevor Tinsel, a Butlins redcoat circa 1982!

It looks horrible, sorry MrE

You even look sheepish about it in your pic. Silly bugger Grin

AnyFucker · 31/05/2014 18:32

I think you two (+ supercute baby) make a lovely couple though Smile

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 31/05/2014 18:49

I'm sorry I'm another one who doesn't find it flattering. But it will grow out. You are a better woman than I, OP.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/05/2014 18:53

The Dye Job headshots will show he's versitile and willing to suffer for his craft Wink

SirChenjin who the feck is THAT in the 11.17 photo (pink tie) Shock

enormouse · 31/05/2014 19:21

AF you big softy Smile, (I was always a little scared of you from your ltb posts). Thanks

I agree, it's awful and I can't stop staring at his mismatched eyebrows. Still, it will grow out and he says he won't be doing it again. He just wanted to see what it would look like. Hmm. And he has done worse. shaving his entire head completely springs to mind

sirchenjin who is that?

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/05/2014 19:31

He was better looking with dark hair.

At least you can put this to bed now though, the question has been answered.

SirChenjin · 31/05/2014 19:47

No idea....just some bloke who appeared when I googled blonde and fake tan. Let him act as a warning to your DP

Grin
Coumarin · 31/05/2014 20:23

He shaved his head? Shock

At least he's not doing it again. I reckon he did it out of stubbornness.

AnyFucker · 31/05/2014 20:35

Oh, I forgot.

LTB

hehe

enormouse · 31/05/2014 20:54

Grin AF

Yep coumarin a few years ago and then followed the headshaving with a trip to Edinburgh. At Christmas.

I hated the shaved head and I made him wear a hat for about 2 weeks till there was some regrowth. Even in bed.

My DH got a mohican for his 40th birthday midlife crisis party. His mother was Shock and said in strangled tones, 'You have remembered your cousin's wedding next week, haven't you?'

He hadn't. And looked a twat. And now wants to die his hair ginger on the grounds that as a white male, he has never experienced true prejudice Hmm

GurlwiththeCurl · 31/05/2014 21:14

Wait until he gets to 60 like my DH. He decided to grow his hair long to remind him of how he looked at 20. Plus he also grew a long beard. Unfortunately, as his hair is now grey, he looked more like an old wizard than a rock god!

Thank goodness he had it all cut off again fairly quickly.

Nancy66 · 31/05/2014 21:16

that child is ridiculously cute. The third picture laughing...adorable!

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/05/2014 21:42

When the kids are older you can send them all off together so they can stop him doing anything unwise.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 31/05/2014 21:49

This is fascinating honestly as I just can't imagine DH ever saying he wanted to dye his hair

I'm really interested as to why he wants to be lighter! Has he said?

I'm honestly being helpful or trying to but would he consider trying on a wig? To see what he looked like?

What job does he do? I'm a lawyer and it would be very Hmm for anyone - male or female-- to have an obvious dye job. That's not necessarily good or bad but just something that might need to be taken in to consideration. However, if he has a non-boring, interesting job that doesn't require interacting with conservative dullards, then no worries!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 31/05/2014 21:52

Ignore me - I should have RTFT!

I can't see the photos very well - is it very different? I see he loves it so that's good

enormouse · 31/05/2014 22:09

Love the stories of men with mad hair. Especially experiencing true prejudice.

Thank you Nancy. DS2 is a very smiley baby.

gobbolino he's an actor who's currently a TA in a primary school. How are you btw? I remember you from the January 2014 threads.

OP posts:
TheBuskersDog · 31/05/2014 22:16

I hope he's prepared for lots of comments about his new hair colour on Monday then, primary school children are not subtle about things like that!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 31/05/2014 22:17

My DH has a thing for cowboy boots. He bought a sky blue pair on Ebay a few years ago and he keeps fucking wearing them. He's worn them to work! We work together and the shame...

He also has some classy Simon Cowell V neck T-shirts in colours like raspberry pink and lemon yellow. I cringe when he goes shopping on his own.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 31/05/2014 22:18

Sorry, that was in answer to the question about other people's DH's making stupid sartorial decisions.

Cocolepew · 31/05/2014 22:27

It makes him look older Confused
It was sunny in Co. Down today, if he was here it could have blinded us, with the sun bouncing of it.

DH decided to go bleached blonde. He had a shaved head at the time. He looked like a skinned cat and had to shave it completely off.
He does not have the head shape for being bald.

At the moment he is insisting on keeping his grey goatee beard. He looks like Paul Hollywoods anemic brother

JeanSeberg · 31/05/2014 22:43

I like that pic doinmummy. Reminds me of David Sylvian back in the day.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 31/05/2014 22:48

enormous - I thought I recognised your DS, are you in the facebook group?

Lovely to see you. We're all fine and mini gobbolinokitten is being very good. Still fucking exclusively expressing - 19 weeks in. So bored. Am going to come back to the thread as need some weaning tips in due course.

Hope you are all well

enormouse · 01/06/2014 11:25

coco we're on the Antrim coast and the weather here is decidedly crappy. Going to a bbq today if the weather's good SO he may well blind everyone. FIL and DPs grandad will probably say something tactless about it (which I'm looking forward to).
Paul.Hollywood's anatomic brother Grin

Bleurgh I didn't know you could get cowboy boots in sky blue, too extra. I read somewhere that men can't distinguish shades of blue and green as well as women. So maybe he isn't seeing their true colour.

gobbolino not.on fb. You have my admiration for expressing full time. The few times I've done it, it's been a PITA and DS2 has refused to drink it unless he's 100% sure I'm not lurking in the house somewhere. We're starting to talk about weaning so come back soon! Smile
