Dp is dyeing his hair and wants your advice

Dp has booked an appointment at our local hairdressers after much personal debate have his hair dyed professionally. There was an incident with box dye so he's not going down that road again.

He's going blonde but he's not sure how blonde or which kind of blonde to go. I can't really advise him as I've never dyed my hair. And I'm completely different to him in terms of colouring. He's agreed to ask the collective wisdom of mumsnet.

Thanks in advance. Smile

I am sure he is a lovely bloke, but he really will look like a twat if he does this

EasterSundaySimmons · 30/05/2014 18:10

Tell him that he is going to look like a Simon Le bon impersonator!

heh

enormouse · 30/05/2014 18:19

I am torn between laughter and tears. Apparently it will be 'subtle'.

I hope it puts him off and will be shorter lived than when he shaved off his hair completely and looked like voldemort.

Tell him that the sensible ladies on MN say "naw".

Then slap him about the head with a wet fish for being so daft. Unless he's planning to drape himself in gold chains, stick sovvie rings on his fingers, get (bad) tattoos of the babby and misspelled Chinese proverbs, wear football strips all the time, and call himself Wayne (spelled Wain) then it's a baaaaaaaaad idea.

MrsLettuce · 30/05/2014 18:24

But, but, but the roots. The fecking maintenance involved in fake blondness is horrific. Does he understand about the roots

soaccidentprone · 30/05/2014 18:24

It's hair. It will grow out.

I think he should go for it. Or you will get forever branded the person who wouldn't let him dye his hair (forever).

MrsLettuce · 30/05/2014 18:25

Oh yes, you must 'let' him. Right to self expression and all that. But yeah. I hope it does help.

MrsLettuce · 30/05/2014 18:28

people just don't seem to get what a massive commitment and expense long term hair dying is. No just your DH, loads and loads of people.

enormouse · 30/05/2014 18:35

Thanks everyone for the wisdom and commenting on DS2s cuteness.

I'm going to make an effort to put him off this evening after the boys are in bed. Unfortunately every time I try to bring it up I burst out laughing so I need time to compose my straight face.

Please could you post another pic when he gets it done ?

I like a right good belly laugh every so often...

MrsLettuce · 30/05/2014 18:59

Oh yes please.

ARF!!

enormouse · 30/05/2014 20:22

Grin twinkle

You jest but I may end up having to live with that and looking at it, day after day.

In that case give him your blessing, let him trot off to hairdresser and come back looking a nob.

Then sing Duran Duran songs constantly.

He will fall out of love with it eventually.

enormouse · 30/05/2014 20:35

'Hungry like the wolf' or Rio' doc?

OP posts:
OwlCapone · 30/05/2014 20:40

Rio. Definitely.

JamJimJam · 30/05/2014 20:41

I am questioning myself as to why I think it's weird when a man wants to dye his hair.

But I do.

OwlCapone · 30/05/2014 20:42

Or Wild Boys

Is he intending to have the regrowth done every 4 weeks? he'll look a proper pratt if he doesn't. Men with dyed hair ...laughable. Just let him get on with it. Then he can shave it off.

AdoraBell · 30/05/2014 21:52

I was a Durany, yes I am that old, and I recommend signing Wild Boys as that was when Simon looked the most dodgy. IMO.

Agree, seriously cute DS.

EduardoBarcelona · 30/05/2014 22:04

He looks 16!

enormouse · 30/05/2014 22:18

ed he'll be so pleased to hear that. He's 24, but thinks the DC have aged him 10 years.

So far convincing him not to do it is going badly.
