Dp is dyeing his hair and wants your advice

Dp has booked an appointment at our local hairdressers after much personal debate have his hair dyed professionally. There was an incident with box dye so he's not going down that road again.

He's going blonde but he's not sure how blonde or which kind of blonde to go. I can't really advise him as I've never dyed my hair. And I'm completely different to him in terms of colouring. He's agreed to ask the collective wisdom of mumsnet.

Thanks in advance. Smile

Ewan M did the blonde thing didn't he? He didn't look so bad... Maybe you'll get used to it.

Coumarin · 31/05/2014 12:42

Plus on the bright side, at least he's taking an interest in his appearance and isn't boring.

enormouse · 31/05/2014 12:55

owl yep, maybe a rousing medley with rio and notorious.

fairy Smile. I'll send him round. You can have him till the blonde grows out.

trinpy sadly at 24 he's not going to go grey any time soon. But I'm taking lots of photos for posterity.

He's taken the DSes out to his parents so hopefully tell-it-like-it-is northern irish FIL will say something about it. (When I first met FIL he said he was convinced that dp had something of the musical theatre about him).

Photos will be uploaded soon, I promise. Just can't upload from my crappy phone and the laptops gone with him.

A Nice n Easy late night dash is coming on I tells ya!
it won't take long

enormouse · 31/05/2014 12:59

coumarin I'm making a list of the positives -

  1. it's slightly better than that uni photo. Not so flat and yellow.
  2. it will grow out
  3. it looks okish in indirect sunlight and at least NI is under a permanent raincloud.

Errrm....I think that's it.

something of the musical theatre about him. Grin

Please let us know what gems his Dad comes out with today when he sees him.

Aw I feel a bit mean.

AnyFucker · 31/05/2014 13:21

pmsl @ "something about the musical theatre"

EasterSundaySimmons · 31/05/2014 13:50

Great thread.

Love the 'musical theatre' quote!

You are gorgeous op, do you think he feels insecure?

He really doesn't need to dye his hair so I hope his dallying in hair dye will be the last time.

AnyFucker · 31/05/2014 13:58

Hurry up with the picture !

DuchessFanny · 31/05/2014 14:47

Yes, can't wait to see a picture, I've been loitering all day waiting. Just dyEing to see what it looks like.

Sorry, lame joke Grin

Does he like it?

enormouse · 31/05/2014 15:13

He loves it.

Easter Blush he may well be. He was a drama student so I guess insecurity goes with the territory.
What with all the gorgeous actressy types I always felt like his beard.

And the moral of this story is always listen to anyfucker Wink

Doinmummy · 31/05/2014 15:16

Just caught up with the goings on... It's not too bad actually, at least it's not this blonde

Forgot caps, AnyFucker

Doinmummy · 31/05/2014 15:18

Now you can tell him to STFU about his hair !

MrsCakesPremonition · 31/05/2014 15:18

Um, I may be completely wrong, the lighting might be off or something... but it looks a lot like the uni box dye job.

Is he happy though?

enormouse · 31/05/2014 15:23

MrsCakes it is similar but thankfully it doesn't have the Orange undetone the box dye had.

DS2 seems to be finding it hilarious.

In the interests of not piling on poor misguided DP has anyone else's DP/H done anything so sartorially stupid?

And yep AF is very wise.

OP posts:
Coumarin · 31/05/2014 15:46

Oh it's not as bad as I'd imagined and look at his happy wee face!

You should've said he was a drama student in your op. Explains it. Wink

MrsCakesPremonition · 31/05/2014 15:49

DH has a rather peculiar hat which he insists on wearing in the winter. It makes him look like a demented Smurf, but he loves it.

enormouse · 31/05/2014 16:55

Another crisis averted. He wants to get his professional headshots (for sending to agencies etc) taken with his daft hair and I managed to persuade him not to with more tact than I thought possible.

OP posts:
enormouse · 31/05/2014 16:56

MrsCakes is it red like papa smurfs?

OP posts:
OwlCapone · 31/05/2014 17:12

Good effort on the headshot front - unless he is planning to audition for an 80’s drama.

We are very mean aren't we? :o
