Well, the wedding was absolutely lovely; quite low-key but beautifully done, with a "film" theme, so lots of fun props and sideshows. A fantastic meal and piles of cupcakes on every table. The bride and groom's first dance was to a medley of film themes - my goddaughter, bless her, dances like a wardrobe, so there was a lot of audible counting and giggling. The FOTB'S excellent speech (he is my cousin, and a very Dry Wit) was punctuated by a massive clap of thunder just as he was making a comment about the new in-laws. Grin My dress was perfect for the occasion, by the way Smile and I overheard someone saying to my cousin "oh yes, I met CV - I can't believe she's X's godmother - she doesn't look any older than me!" which absolutely made my night .Grin Grin After the wedding we retired to DDad's and continued the festivities until 3am.

Then up early doors (gah! Didn't feel quite as bright) and back to Surrey to take DS to an athletics competition. The sun was blazing all day and shorts were most definitely the order of the day. DS did brilliantly again, and has started competing at 200m which he seems to be better at than 100m. We got home for a quick tea, unpacking then re-packing for DD1 who is off at 6am tomorrow for her school trip to Normandy. I really should be going to bed....

NUFC69 · 09/06/2014 07:26

What a fantastic weekend, CV. It all sounds lovely and well done on the compliment: things like that keep me going for weeks. DS is obviously very talented.

Sorry to hear about the problems with DDs' periods - being a woman is never easy.

I reckon I was awake for a couple of hours from 3.30 so am feeling pretty rough this morning (and then DH woke me up before 6.30 Sad ). I will be walking the baby for an hour or so first thing while Dd takes DGS to his swimming lesson. I would quite like to go for v bike ride but I will need to be properly awake for that.

Good luck to exam takers.

Rose, are you feeling better today? I hope all the other nomadic DC are ok.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2014 08:03

CV, sounds like you had a great weekend, and well done to CV junior!

Cremo, how did the date go? Or is she not back yet?Wink

motherinferior · 09/06/2014 08:07

I have conducted a pathetically truncated Ladyjog. Either I'm still a bit viral or it's taking ages to get over - octegenarians were running happily past me. Bits of me ache. Feel sorry for self and also convinced this is the Beginning Of The End and I will be hobbling creaking old lady by the end of the week. I may just possibly be exaggerating.

hattymattie · 09/06/2014 08:17

Good luck to DD for Maths Stropps - hope DD is feeling a little better and is on form.

Here, the storm continued throughout the night with thunder literally like explosions. I never heard it like that before. I think we got off quite lightly because in the next town they had hailstones the size of eggs and DD's friend has holes in her outside table.

MI - I am full of aches and pains at the moment - I go to the gym and there are ladies at lead ten years older than me who seem more sprightly. I'm having real trouble dealing with the not sleeping at night due to hot flushes - this makes me a totally bad tempered ratbag during the day.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2014 08:43

HattyShock at holes in outside table.

I am at the walk-in at the GPs with DS about his ingrowing toenail which is not getting better. DH had to go off to his Very Important Job.

Blackduck · 09/06/2014 08:59

BTM I feel your pain.

I am at the start of another one of those weeks - I already feel very rubbish (very tired). I am either wfh on Wednesday or taking the day off because I know I can't do a full week of this!

I also have a very sore heel which is annoying me!

Rosebag · 09/06/2014 08:59

Thank you NU Not to bad…so much the better for some sleep. The trip are tweeting a bit more regularly so hoping to get a glimpse of DD at some point in the photos they're posting. Lord alone knows what my parents did..I went abroad for 6 months with the school on a study trip in year 9…or third year as it was known then. We only had airmail letters through which to communicate. It was probably a lot better!

Today we are weathering Maths stats paper GCSE (DS). I am working this morning…excellent distraction. Hoping Mother hatty and all other peeps with aches and pains get better, and that all these feet/toe problems resolve too. CV Wedding sounded glorious and I bet you were a picture in that dress. Happy Monday, everyone.

cremolafoam · 09/06/2014 10:18

Hatty when we lived in Australia I remember seeing cars with tennis ball size dents made by giant hailstones. Scary stuff.
Somehow we have avoided the storms here and the weather has settled into a grey mizzle. Plus ca change.
MI , Bd I hear you about creeking bones. The Leg of Doom lingers on. I wonder if I'll ever be pain free .
Have been for a lady-swim this morning floating about moving arms a bit and feel limp and wrung out now. Gah!

Dds date was "really lovely, he's SO NICE, the gig was great, swoon..."
Grin She's all loved up by the sound if it. Big smiles this morning for the first time in , hmm , months?
Ah loves young dream...Smile

hattymattie · 09/06/2014 10:41

That's horrible about your leg Cream - I hope things get better.

Glad the date went well - my DD has a lovely boyfriend but I don't know how things are going to pan out next year with her in the UK and him in the Netherlands.

DH trying to change the bulb in the oven. Things are not going well and he has just given himself and electric shockShock.

herbaceous · 09/06/2014 10:43

I need to change the oven bulb. For a while I thought the reason I couldn't see in was because of the film of grot over the door, but even when I cleaned it (an uncommon occurrence) all was still dark.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2014 10:55

Well the GP was a waste of timeAngry

Apparently DH has been cutting it wrongly - there is a bit at the side to cut???? I asked if the nurse would be able to help us, but no, nothing. Poor DS.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2014 10:55

And Grin at your cooker, Herbs!

Rosebag · 09/06/2014 11:03

tilly can't a chiropodist sort that out? The males in this house have disgusting and troublesome feet including ingrown nails. Our chirpodist sorts it out every time. Have to pay, though.

cremolafoam · 09/06/2014 11:08

BTM definitely you need a podiatrist pronto. They won't even blink at an infected toe, and will sort it out properly.

< Hangs head in shame at slatternly behaviour >

hattymattie · 09/06/2014 11:52

HerbsGrin - I pyrolyze my oven every six months or so.

Shouldn't toe nails be cut straight across?

herbaceous · 09/06/2014 11:54

I pyrolyse too! But it doesn't seem to affect the door...

Stropperella · 09/06/2014 12:09

I have never cleaned my oven. Grin And I don't even know what "pyrolyse" means.

Blackduck · 09/06/2014 12:21

me neither....

I occasionally (very) threaten it with some industrial strength oven cleaner.... I inherited my cooker with the house and the previous owner certainly didn't clean it....

herbaceous · 09/06/2014 12:30

A pyrolitic oven heats up to 500degC for a couple of hours (when instructed), turning all caked on food to a dust that can be just wiped away. It's bloody marvellous.

hattymattie · 09/06/2014 12:34

Herbs -my oven door come out clean - I just need to wipe down.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2014 13:28

Thanks Rose and Cremo, I was thinking to do that and you spurred me on! Have got him an appointment for Wednesday and DH will have to take him as I will be in a meeting and I have done the last two

Yes Hatty (as mine are and as I have told the DC to do, but they don'tConfused)

Never heard of pyrolitic ovens!

CointreauVersial · 09/06/2014 13:33

I also inherited an oven with the house - it was Somewhat Grubby when we moved in, and eventually it became Hazardous To Health so I invested in some of that mythical Oven Pride, so beloved of the MN Flyladies. It did the job, but I do wish I could just flick a switch. Sounds like my kind of cleaning.

DD1 got away on time this morning; not without leaving her hand luggage behind (containing passport, money....). Luckily she remembered when we were half way down the hill so we rushed back for it. She is probably in France by now. I sneaked a "birthday stocking" containing little presents (hair stuff, smellies, Percy Pigs...) into the bottom of her case, as she turns 13 on Friday.

It's DH's birthday tomorrow; one of his gifts hasn't arrived yet Angry; the other is a golf trolley which I assembled last week and is hiding in the loft under a blanket. He is taking the day off and will lounge at home doing very little.

bigTillyMint · 09/06/2014 13:39

CV, Grin that she forgot her hand luggage! And how sweet of you to sneak in a birthday stockingSmile
