Fedup i couldn't see the link to your parrot skirt

MarshaBrady · 20/05/2014 08:12

I couldn't find it either Fedup. It sounds nice, from what everyone is saying.

Another morning only work thing, this time Farringdon a million times easier than yesterday (NW). Just white shirt, other one, skinnies and Gryphon pea and black suede wedges. It's lucky for my wardrobe I don't work every day. I need new stuff!

shopafrolic · 20/05/2014 08:13

Morning - apologies for last night. Yes Novice finished the bottle!
It was 8 years since DH and I first met. I had cooked good food, tidied up etc, went upstairs to put DS to bed, came down to find kitchen floor flooded with dirty water just as DH came in. Cue lots of mopping and lots of alcohol Grin

Is it one step removed or met them?

Liberty I take it meeting Elvis didn't happen Grin but is it close connection? As in family married to... I don't know the game rules Wink

Shop sounds bad! The water. 8 years, good.

I am on a double espresso cycle, can't sleep meeting, need another one the next morning. Need to break.

shopafrolic · 20/05/2014 09:51

Oh! I thought met? I hope I'm not one step removed from any of the above Grin

liberty I am taking a massive suitcase so I hope so!

topaz where are you going? :)

Dry lol at your beach cover up comment!

Oh dear shop I hope it's fixed soon, in the meantime just stroke the new bag to keep calm :)

My one-step-removeds are the members of Pink Floyd and the most famous person I have met is Jenson Button I was 16

Decameron · 20/05/2014 10:08

Fedup, love the print on the skirt.

Turq, I will get DH to send the memo! He thinks one bag a year is plenty though. No sign of the bag yet, My-W are usually so quick, I hope they don't cancel the order.

Hmm, I use to see Larry Mullins a lot, I lived near him in Dublin. And a lot of others when I worked in Dublin Duty Free or in NY. But intrigued about Elvis!

I'd definitely sell the jeans, Shop. Hope your dishwasher can be fixed pronto. I have two pairs of J Brand on now, to offset the cost of these jeans.

OneLittleLady · 20/05/2014 10:24

I can't get my shoe on! Seriously, my left leg and foot have swollen so much I can't get my shoes on. Am hoping it's a reaction to the heat but have a doctors appointment tomorrow and on their advice have my foot up on cushions with an ice pack. No pain, redness or unusual heat but they've told me if any develops or i get breathless then I'm to go to A&E. Swelling is a symptom of my condition so I'm not overly worried and it's a good excuse to just sit and relax. Wearing knee length cropped jeans and a marvel comics tee as it's really really warm in the flat

Hope the dishwasher is fixed soon shop

My most famous distant relative played football a couple of times for England in the 60's

I'm not related to anyone famous but I think dh may have descended from French royalty and be something like a 100th cousin to prince Charles. Does that count Grin

Lovely jacket SoYo

Turquoiseblue · 20/05/2014 11:47

Lovely Soyo! Glad you got your jacket.
Fed up - I hope you didn't mind my comment about the skirt re read it and thought it might have caused upset. I just wouldn't be mad on bird/ animal prints Thanks but colours were lovely and vibrant.

Marsha- work clothes - meh! Prefer spending the hard earned on 'play 'clothes !

shopafrolic · 20/05/2014 11:55

Lovely jacket SoYo - well played.
I am just updating my EBay board with everything that is going - if any of you are interested then shout......

SoyYo · 20/05/2014 12:54

Thanks I am really happy with it. But was panicking a bit last Fri so I also ordered this directly from Muubaa via Amazon:
www.amazon.co.uk/Muubaa-Leather-Victoriana-Blazer-Storm/dp/B00EECZQUO/ref=sr_1_59?ie=UTF8&qid=1400586649&sr=8-59&keywords=muubaa+size+16
It is a nice grey colour but the style is not "me" so now that is going back too,Hmm making it a total of 3 Muuba returns (and no refund into bank account yet)!!! A bit concerned about the Asos feedback as the first one I returned a week ago has not even been acknowledged yet.

Hopefully the Outnet and this new (direct to) Muuba will be a bit faster in deposing the dosh back into my bank account.

SoyYo · 20/05/2014 13:20

And unfortunately I cannot contribute to the "Met famous person" discussion. At All. I remember seeing G.Paltrow once @ Virgin VIP lounge in Heathrow, but not to talk to.
But Elvis???!!! Wow! And Pink Floyd!!!! Double Wow!! (you can tell I am rather ancient).

On the beach front, I spent a marvellous sunny weekend on the beach in Norfolk. It was just dreamy weather, and some pips even were out on their swimsuits....which is a bit optimistic given the temp didn't rise above 21C.
So for long beach walks I wore this, which is quite cheerful and light (with 3/4 leggings when not on beach/going back to flat):
www.gudrunsjoden.com/us/2014-spring/inspiration/2014_spring/2014_spring_catrionasgarden
Not the skirt just the long top, I love the fact she has models even older than me!! And the fabric quality and colours are fab and fun in my opinion.

So I have not yet given this an outing (bought @figleaves sale):
www.figleaves.com/uk/product/FE-000017/Fantasie-Ecuador-UW-Scoop-Neck-Swimsuit/?size=&colour=Black&&c=ppc&src=gguk_feed&gclid=COaH1vy7ur4CFXRo7Aod8i0AOg
Talking of which they have a one day 25% off everything today in case any of you ladies are looking for beachwear.
I only buy cup sized swimwear (34FF/G).

Had a look at Boden yesterday with the 20% discount (used to buy lots from them in years gone by) but I am just not that excited about their stuff anymore, it is all samey and I find the quality has gone down in the last couple of years.

Finally, I am on the lookout for some nice scoop or vneck linen Tshirts in black, navy and cream. Someone mentioned JCrew and had a look but they are too high necked for me.

shopafrolic · 20/05/2014 13:26

Correction! Have just received email from Asos acknowledging my return and refund. Hooray!!

Liberty I am glad you like the Boots curl pink cream, honestly I find it better than Aveda curl cream which is supposed to be the holy grail for curly hair. Just remember to apply the blob with really wet (just hand squeezed) curls out of shower and before you towel pat/dry. Sometimes I mix it with U.Giannini curls gel (also in pink tube from Boots) to give the curls extra definition, but go easy as you don't want to end up with stiff hair!

LinusDKD · 20/05/2014 14:44

SoyYo well done on the Muuba jacket.

The DP borderie dress dry sent back arrived today and whilst it is not 100% what I was looking for (neckline could be lower) it will be perfect for throwing on when I'm on holiday.

Wearing my MiH navy tee today with my tile print Leigh skinnies which
I love. I just saw they now also do them in a pink tile print (called Aubergine Hmm ) so I'm sitting on my hands.

Something strange is happening to me. For the last two weeks I have been contemplating doing/buying something I have never thought of before.

Doing: going for a run and/or joining a gym. Shock.

I have nearly reached my first target and lost 10 kg but my mummy tummy and love handles still bother me so I might want to do something about them. Problem is, I loathe gyms. Grin

Buying: harem trousers and/or a jumpsuit.

They look so comfortable and stylish on other people but I fear that a short pearshape would probably look rubbish in them. What does MNV think?

Oh and some good news! As of 1st July the customs limit is going up considerably, so now I will be able to buy sooo much more without having to pay £££££ in customs duties. Just in time for the sales! Yay!

Decameron · 20/05/2014 14:53

The Outnet are very quick with refunds, SoyYo. Lovely jacket and it is nice to see older models.

Decameron · 20/05/2014 14:55

Do you like classes, Linus? I am not a gym member now but definitely going back to it when DD2 is in nursery. I loved spin. I eat sensibly but I think I just need more exercise to tone up.

LinusDKD · 20/05/2014 15:12

Have only ever been to yoga classes decam Blush

I used to have a Virgin Active gym membership when I lived in London but I hardly ever went. I didn't even went to the pool, my main reason for choosing that gym in the city. Double Blush

I have been thinking about pilates classes but not sure if that will help with my problem areas.

Fedupnagging · 20/05/2014 15:15

Argh, have just lost a long post. Try again...

Turq you absolutely didn't cause offence. Probably didn't phrase my post well as was a bit pissed tired. I was after honest opinions. For anyone still interested, the skirt is now pinned and apologies for rubbish link.

Shop hope you get your machine fixed ASAP and One hope you are managing to sit still and your leg recovers soon.

Soyo, it was me who has bought the curl cream. Have been using it on towel dry hair so will slap it on apply it straight from the shower tomorrow. Great jacket bargain and lovely swimsuit.

Well done on the weight loss Linus. I don't like gyms either, or running for that matter. Classes are better but I still get bored after about 18m so stop for a couple of years then join again. I walk a lot now as we have a dog and it is much kinder to my back and joints.

SoyYo · 20/05/2014 15:51

Fedup sorry I mixed you up, still getting to know you ladies.
Yes I recommend using it with just hand squeezed wet curls, then towel dry but easy on what type of towel, microfibre or old tshirt is better as the fibres in conventional towels also up the frizz factor. And if you havent got a hairdryer with ionic thingies I do recommend too they do make a difference (always with diffuser!). I manage frizz free curls every time with this technique, and I have long curly hair. If you want to condition wash in between low sulfate shampoos I am using right now Garnier Ultimate Blends Sleek Restorer conditioner, and it is fab and silicone free so no build up. I have naturally dry hair, so also once a week after shampooing it gets deep nourishing treatment with the body shop hair butter.

Linus, I battle with the bulge too. Managed to gain half stone over the winter (always get depressed with lack of sunshine) and for last 8 weeks have been on very low carb diet (pig to twig old book by India Knight) and now have lost the extra weight, but have decided I really need to go down to 10 stone so another half stone to go yet. And like you I really hate exercising, but try and walk lots....I was thinking dance/zumba lessons so will watch suggestions with interest.

I am planning on many long beach walks this summer as I am lucky to have a beachside flat to escape to at weekends, and was considering this:
www.figleaves.com/uk/product/FE-000082/Fantasie-Istanbul-UW-VNeck-Adjustable-Leg-Swimsuit/?size=&colour=Blues with figleaves 25% offer. I am not in bad shape considering I am 52, just need good boob support, and I am well past the bikini stage. sob...
