My turn......

OP posts:

Commiserations to MI and her Aunt Flo trials, and to BD for her panel's lack of foresight and giving the job to the wrong person. As they say, as one door closes another slams in your face opens.

Imagine my joy - the clothes bit of our big Sainsbury's has been expanded! It's the size of a branch of Dotty P's, or similar. Marvellous.

hattymattie · 20/05/2014 17:51

Crem - sciatica sounds awful - MI the flow sounds miserable too - a hot water bottle on the stomach job.

Horrible drizzly rainy weather here - had a nice lunch with a friend and was hoping to sit outside with a glass of rosé - it was not to be - inside the house feels damp and grey.

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2014 18:40

Herbs, did they not ask you to cut the opening ribbon?Grin

Cremo, sciatica sounds truly crepey. Bad Luck!

It has been threatening rain all day, but the weather forecasters were wrong again. Or as one of my little lovelies put it, they were lying!

Off out to sample a new local eat/drinkery with friendsSmile

lalsy · 20/05/2014 19:04

Sympathies to crepeys feeling....crepey. I have managed to hurt my ankle, standing in the middle of the room on my own, not near any hard objects. And the dc both want to go on a school (sort of) trip that involves filling in ten (10, X) forms between them, some quite baffling. Is it time to go home yet? Smile

NUFC69 · 20/05/2014 19:20

Sorry to hear that so many Crepeys are unwell or injured. Life is a bummer when you get old! Not wishing to upset you, MI, but I seem to remember that I didn't stop until I was 57 and I got so sick of it by then.

I hope all the exams went ok?

I spent part of the afternoon defrosting our small fridge freezer - I can't remember when I last did it and I reckon that it will probably hold 20 percent more now. Angry

Sorry about the job, BD - I am sure there's something better for you out there.

Rosebag · 20/05/2014 19:24

Healing vibes to everyone with aches, pains, digestive disturbance and hurties. MrsS I do hope your course was less awful today. I know (as a teacher of adults, not in same area, obviously), I would feel like the one who had failed if a participant on any of my courses felt so left behind.
DS said Eng Lit was "strange" …analyse that.
Atrocious work meeting earlier and depressing visit to the aged ones. Going shortly to heal my soul at choir. Tra la la

Stropperella · 20/05/2014 19:36

Rosebag, snap! Dd also said that Eng Lit was "strange". Hmm Grin

Sorry to hear about everyone feeling rubbish. But budge up on the sickie bench, I have horrible cramps and random sticking pains in my lower abdomen, which these days seem to herald the onset of another period that actually shouldn't be happening for another week. Just what I need when stuck on my own in a room with a bunch of teens for 2.5 hours - some flooding. Boo.

I think my boss chicken has turned broody. What do you do to un-broody a chicken, Beachy??

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 20/05/2014 20:01

You need a nice, big cock, Stropps! GrinGrin

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

NearTheWindymill · 20/05/2014 20:21

I wondered what that was in response to Mrs S Grin. Phew Shock

cremolafoam · 20/05/2014 20:25

Grin @mrs S

Had a lovely evening at a new eaterie which has had two rave reviews. Only fly in the oinkment was them having two sittings, so we had to leave at 9. Still it means I am home nice and early.

I have a GP apt tomorrow evening for latest update on high BP and very low iron...

bigTillyMint · 20/05/2014 21:54

Well, I got told off by the GP on the phone because I didn't want to take iron tablets (make you constipated) and I eat barely any red meat. I am taking Floradix instead, and I had steak tonightWink

originalpiratematerial · 20/05/2014 22:31

Sympathies for all ailing crepeys and to all crepey children battling with exams. I had a seriously ropey day today, in terms of mental equilibrium. Am hoping tomorrow will be better.

On a cheerier note, I bought those Asos boyfriend jeans that someone here recommended and they're great, so thank you for the tip! I hate buying jeans and have survived for the last three years in cheapo New Look skinnies so having some nice jeans will be very therapeutic.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 20/05/2014 23:15

Course was no better today. He said he has a pass rate of 99.8%, and the only people who have failed were elderly Nigerian gentlemen. I fear I may change his statistics.

And have period pain from hell, just to make things better.

Dinner went wrong tonight and I lost it. Sad The pastry (boughten, Waitrose) just wanted to stick to the work surface, regardless of how much flour I used, so it ended up hurled into the bin and we had stew instead.

beachyhead · 20/05/2014 23:15

Oh I'm tempted by the boyfriend jeans too....

Quite hard to unbroody a chicken, Stropps ( even though we do have a nice big cock here Grin ). We take them out of their box at least twice a day, put them in front of water and food and just let them get on with it. We sometimes dump them a walk away from the pen and make them wander back! My neighbour is much more strict and puts them in a wire bottom cage so they can't settle for a day or so which snaps them out of it.

Or get fertilised eggs from somewhere and stick them under her! Chicks in 21 days-magic...

I'm off work now for 10 days, finishing up exams here on Friday, then off to Barcelona for a few days with dd1 and ds...

Blackduck · 21/05/2014 05:43

Barca Envy

I feel very very deflated Rudy and not sure why......

MrsS what IS this test?!

Someone link to Asos jeans please (not that I need any....)

NUFC69 · 21/05/2014 07:16

Good luck with the GP this morning, BTM. Movicol is good for the "moving" problem, by the way.

I would love to have chickens but they are prohibited here (probably a good job as lots of foxes). I hope the exams get a bit better, MrsS . It's funny how we all have blank areas that our brains can't cope with - mine is playing cards, just totally a closed book to me. Now give me a map and I am ace ....

Breaking my diet today and going out to lunch, followed by a guided tour of an Arts and crafts church which has just been restored.

NUFC69 · 21/05/2014 07:20

Yes and I am envious, too, of the trip to Barcelona, BD. Sorry you're feeling a bit down; you need to arrange something to cheer yourself up: nice meal, manicure, new dress?

lalsy · 21/05/2014 07:47

BTM, I was pretty anaemic after ds' birth, and lovely midwife said Floradix didn't pack enough of a punch - I went on double iron, double Floradix, shedloads of OJ with meals and water in between, worked fast and no constipation (was very worried about that!). She said once iron levels get to a certain point, you need more drastic measures. For what it is worth.

originalpiratematerial · 21/05/2014 07:53

I can't find the post here that linked to the jeans, sorry, but they are ASOS Boyfriend Jeans in Dark Vintage Wash. They size up quite big so order a size down from your usual.

bigTillyMint · 21/05/2014 08:11

Lalsy, I had read that you are supposed to eat foods containing vit C with the iron supplements - am trying to remember to have a couple of satsumas with it! Appointments not till this evening...

Rosebag · 21/05/2014 08:12

Today is Bravissimo day. I hope to come back with renewed knockers and plenty of new wardrobe potential. Does any one know what that charity is that collects unwanted bras and recycles them for the developing world? I think I might have a large bag for them.
Hope everyone's ailments, aches and pains are improving. One of the benefits of being an old bag is no periods any more. There aren't any other benefits though...

lalsy · 21/05/2014 08:17

MrsS, course sounds horrible and strange, how can everyone normally pass?

BD, I hope you feel more cheerful today.

originalpiratematerial · 21/05/2014 08:17

Good luck Rosebag. I had a Bravissimo trip last week. Lamentably, scrutiny of self in changing room mirrors revealed that I am crepey all over now. Even my back is crepey! The new bras are an improvement though.
