Dry sounds fabulous! Welcome back. Love the shoes too.

libertychick · 04/05/2014 22:38

Sounds like a fab weekend Dry. Great shoes.

BrandyAlexander · 04/05/2014 22:39

Sounds fab DrySmile

OneLittleLady · 04/05/2014 23:17

sounds lovely dry i think you should take me next Wink

measured my waist and hips tonight and have lost a further half inch from my waist and a whopping inch and a half from my hips!

LinusDKD · 05/05/2014 07:52

Morning!

dry sounds like you had a fab time! When I read about London or see it on the television I do miss it but I'm not sure I'd want to live there again with two small DC.

The thought of having to find them a good school is enough to make me break out in a cold sweat.

It is supposed to be a nice day today but as it was only 5 degrees this morning I am wearing an old Esprit shirt, TS Leigh skinnies, leopard print J Crew flats and my Paul&Joe coatigan.

DH is traveling all this week and is only back on Sunday so DP's are coming over to help out with the DC. Well, I hope so anyway because dealing with DM can sometimes feel like dealing with an extra child. Hmm

MarshaBrady · 05/05/2014 08:20

Morning. Apparently Gap have extended same to today. Am thinking about whether to go in for some shorts.

Stokey · 05/05/2014 08:50

Wow what a great day Dry sounds lovely. Look forward to doing the same with DDs when they are a bit older. In fact 4 yr old already loves shopping but mainly the Disney shop... need to develop her taste!

Marsha have just spent ages trawling through villas for summer hols, we're going for two weeks, with another family so need 4 bedrooms.

Found some nice country houses in Andalucia (I try to avoid the urbanicions near the coast) and some lovely house in southwest France - Dordogne. Looked for places in northern Spain & islands too but were much more expensive. So we've ended up in France for 2 weeks as you seem to get more land & nicer house for your money - but have scarificed the beach.

Let me know if you want the website for the French ones.

Have only bought one thing this weekend... wellies Blush preparing for Wales in a fortnight.

But did receive my J-Crew order with rosewood skirt and a navy pleated skirt , both great for work or play.

Turquoiseblue · 05/05/2014 09:06

Happy Monday Grin
Great skirts stokey. We ve done South France / northern Spain / Italy for the last ...um 5-6 years,... for our main holiday, as it s just so easy with dc. Adventurous eh! But it came down to needing the space of a villa/ apartment, decent facilities (we both love our sports and outdoors ) travel time, (family often come along for parts of it) and weather, and it being a lovely relaxing easy holiday! I m sure you ll have a great time.
No shopping news.

MarshaBrady · 05/05/2014 09:23

Stokey that would be fab, thanks. Love the skirts, pleats one is so pretty and other one is fab.

MarshaBrady · 05/05/2014 09:25

Turq I'm more than happy to go back if we find a good one, make it easy as possible, all that airport faff I don't want to choose a bad one.

maradesbois · 05/05/2014 10:47

Morning MNVers.

Beautiful day here, am on way to beach with ds. Wearing old reiss floral sundress with battered 'beach' tod's and equally battered Melissa odabash straw hat. marsha will pm you regarding where we're staying.

Glad to hear positives re London from dry etc and good news one re your dh's job. Am feeling better about our impending move although the school situation does make me break out in a cold sweat as linus mentioned! Hope to pick some of your brains at the mu regarding areas etc.

Topazandpearl · 05/05/2014 11:28

I agree that villas or apartments are great with children. We have done everything from Eurocamp (both in tents and mobile homes) to chalets on campsites and apartments and villas as the children grew up. This is our first year when DH and I are going on our main summer holiday without either of them Shock, so we are staying in a hotel. (I am still hoping that we can get a few days away with them, if their summer plans ever get fixed.)

Yesterday I got this jacket to go with this dress for a wedding this summer. I already have these shoes and bag.

I had set out with the idea of a boyfriend-style blazer but I couldn't find any that I liked. I don't think the shape suits me. It also had to be in a non-crumple fabric (which ruled out all the cotton or linen-blends). I was about to give up when I spotted this. I had missed it on my first visit to Mango but had gone back as at least they had a selection of white jackets. I am really pleased with it Smile.

Next step is the hat or hat-type thing (not a fascinator!!) which I think I will hire.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Decameron · 05/05/2014 11:59

Lovely wedding outfit, Topaz.

Nice skirts, Linus.

We are in London with two small children and we love it, we are in SW, Mara, near Kew Gardens and Richmond park, my DD1 goes to the local state school which is fantastic and rated outstanding. The catchment area is tiny (288 metres this year!) however if you are not looking for reception places it is a lot easier. Lots of great private schools too and I have friends with children in the French schools if you are thinking of that.

BrandyAlexander · 05/05/2014 12:06

Love love love that cropped blazer! Great outfit choice.

So, we haven't had one of these for a whileBlush....I dropped my Boodles ring. Got distracted and didn't pick it up straight away. Can't remember where it was and can't find it. Given the number of people in and out of the house at the moment I have to find else it will drive me crazy. Dh seemed quite calm when I told him I was hunting for an £8k ring, just quick flick to check engagement ring was there. Then again knowing what I am like he says he won't be responsible for his actions if he ever sees it off my finger.Grin Right back to hunting. sigh.

Topazandpearl · 05/05/2014 12:43

Ooh good luck novice Shock, hope you find it soon.

I love that part of London Dec. DH's grandmother used to live just down the road from the main entrance. We went for a nosy a few years ago when we visited the area. DH remembered the red brick path to the door and can remember what the house was like inside. It was nice to see the house so well-kept. We also saw the house that his parents first lived in when they got married. It was all quite nostalgic for DH.

maradesbois · 05/05/2014 13:25

decam pm. Good to hear about someone with young dc happy with life in London.

BrandyAlexander · 05/05/2014 14:40

Found it! Found it! Phew.

Mara, I have friends who are in Battersea in south west london. It's got such a great vibe for those families with very young children, around Northcote road and clapham common area. Also friends in Islington, St Johns Wood who all love living in London with young dcs. Back south again, Dulwich village and Blackheath village are lovely.

Drywhiteplease · 05/05/2014 14:51

Thank god for that Novice almost had a heart attack on your behalf!
I'm a SE girl. It's all making me nostalgic...practically grew up in Bushy park , Kew gardens and Richmond park Sad .....mind you I think my dcs feel the same way about where we live now.

Topaz what a great outfit. I do like occasion wear.

Washing frenzy here....6 loads done and on the line. Ironing done. Bathrooms and beds done. Now having a cuppa, a catch up and a bit off my very good book. Phew.

Fashion wise...slippers Smile

Another vote for loving London with dc's from me! We are in NW1 Mara so close to the new lycée if you are thinking of that. Smile. Our dc's have an amazing life, so many fantastic (mostly free) things to enjoy.

LinusDKD · 05/05/2014 15:34

If we ever moved back to London we would look for a place in the SE or SW as well because it makes it easier to drive to the Continent.

I used to live near Southwark tube station and whilst it was 'on the wrong side of the river' I loved living there. We had a big flat with a lovely big terrace and off road parking.

Turquoiseblue · 05/05/2014 15:51

Aw, We lived just off northcote road - pre dc GrinWink was had the best fun, would love to live in London again. Dh wouldn't be so keen.

MarshaBrady · 05/05/2014 16:03

Mara thanks do much for pm, looks great.

And I love living in London, SE, so good to do stuff in town. Free things, museums etc. it's a vast playground for the dc and they love it.

Lots of nice places to live with good schools, which pretty much have already been mentioned.

MarshaBrady · 05/05/2014 16:05

Novice tg you found it!

Topaz fantastic outfit.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 05/05/2014 16:37

Hello all, I hope everyone's having a nice bank holiday weekend :) we are just chilling at home today after a couple of sunny BBQ days away at the ILs.

Shopping wise there's nothing to report - I'm just waiting until I'm in the US to buy anything really, as it's less than 3 weeks away. I'm planning a J Crew spree Grin

Dry so glad your girly weekend was fun. I really want to see Matilda!

I love that blazer Topaz, have been thinking of getting a white/cream one for summer.

Re London, we are also in SW, but slightly further out - 25 mins into town. Love it here but being near a train station is a must.

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 05/05/2014 17:50

Dry I kept my first pony near Bushy Park and used to ride in there. We also moved from Fulham to Kingston Hill when I was 13, so I am also v familiar with Richmond Park. We used to walk our dog near the Royal Ballet School which was absolutely beautiful.

nostalgia.
