Well someone had to do it....

OP posts:
SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 29/04/2014 19:08

I don't mind if I do, MI. Wine

We are having leftovers tonight, in the shape of Caribbean Vegetable Stew and lentils with spinach, garlic and ginger.

I am not in the mood for either effort or cooking.

bigTillyMint · 29/04/2014 19:18

I fancy the pub this Saturday, but either DH or I may be on teen pickup duty. If he could be persuaded..... 185 bus route?!

We've just had stir fry BD! Cheesecake sounds yum, as do all the meals you are all consuming!

Stropperella · 29/04/2014 19:43

Grin @ lurking under-employed Rabbi. Hope your ddad is continuing to improve now, Crem.

Tonight's quick and easy supper: tagliatelle, sauce made of tub of cream cheese with herbs melted with small amount of milk, add shredded smoked salmon (thank you Lidl), squeeze of lemon. Serve with petit pois.

Oh herbs, how I feel for you. Sounds like a real marathon. I reckon you'll have done better in the interview that you think. Fingers crossed. And I hope tomorrow goes well.

bigTillyMint · 29/04/2014 19:48

How did your DD get on today Stropps?

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 29/04/2014 19:58

DH has asked what we are having with the leftovers. Am I doing potatoes or rice? I am not. The stew contains potatoes and sweet potatoes, and is one of those one pot dish things. This is not a fucking restaurant. Angry

Good job it's not pesach, Crem, or you might have felt obliged to inflict one of those hideous chocolate matzo cakes on your DDad.

Stropperella · 29/04/2014 19:58

She came home in a grump and said her printing was a load of rubbish and she's done really badly etc. However, she is also pleased that she's finished Art. Grin

herbaceous · 29/04/2014 20:01

Christ, I fancy the pub. In a riotous 'Oom pah pah' from Oliver fashion.

I feel I should make clear that the content of the written part of today's ordeal, the essay etc, was a total surprise, so no chance to prepare or anything. They gave us a set time limit, so I charged on, cutting corners for speed, then came back saying 'oh OK then, have half an hour more'. Grrr. If I'd known that, I would have taken more time. Like the quivering loon next to me who was writing reams and reams for the first question, not just the standard 500, then being allowed to stay long after everyone else for the other four.

DS is testing my patience to the limit, getting out of bed repeatedly. I may lose my RAG.

Cremolafoam · 29/04/2014 20:15

Oh don't get me started on the perils of hospital food kosher bingo
So far he's either been fed by tube ( grim) or mother's apple kuchen. ( not quite so grim but you can hardly live on it) he blethered something about cheesecake the other day, so I have offered it up to him tonight. He ate a whole teaspoonful before proclaiming how much he felt like soup and matzah .
Grin He must be getting better then.....

motherinferior · 29/04/2014 20:20

Terrible food and such small portions, Crem?

I bunged slices of hallumi into the oven too (on a different roasting sheet) and did couscous (ie poured boiling water onto couscous and frozen chopped parsley, a product I highly recommend for such purposes). I even mashed the garlic cloves out of their skins and bashed up the tomatoes, which I felt showed true greed commitment.

motherinferior · 29/04/2014 20:21

I just found a chunk of a novel I half wrote. It isn't as bad as I thought it was. Or rather isn't as bad as the Book No Agent Wants.

beachyhead · 29/04/2014 21:55

Well done Herbs.... and breathe, and do it all again tomorrow!

During my brief Easter sojourn, my boss appears to have annexed another whole department, thus enlarging my responsibility by another VIII (eight) angry people, who didn't want to be invaded. Great! Might work from home for the foreseeable future.

She is setting me up for a fall!

Just got back from a UCAS evening at college, trying to fathom the system. I've made notes.....

beachyhead · 29/04/2014 21:56

or is that supposed to be eight (VIII). I'm not concentrating!

motherinferior · 29/04/2014 21:59

Eight (8, viii).
innit?

Stropperella · 29/04/2014 22:25

Am still working. Boo.

NearTheWindymill · 29/04/2014 22:51

I haven't posted because I need to catch up with everyone else's posts. I am sorry. I have a gist that Herbs had a shit day and I hope it works out somehow. Am just so tired. But I've sort of got a vibe from "crem" - I don't know where you are but can I get you proper Kossoff's cheesecake delivered?

I try hard to make my lot loction and they think it's disgusting. They know nothing.

CointreauVersial · 29/04/2014 23:06

I was thinking of you and your day-job, BTM, while watching Mr Drew's School For Boys. DS may sorely try our patience on occasion, but OMG some of those lads.......Shock Sad

That pasta sounds lush, Strops. We had meatballs with pasta (DCs), and roasted squash (DH and I).

beachyhead · 29/04/2014 23:32

Camp night details have gone out on fb and email.

Let me know if you haven't got it and pm your email!

Auriga · 30/04/2014 00:02

Thanks Beachy, sounds brilliant.
Herbs, rosacea humming? Are we in code now? Have I missed a memo?
Or (sudden inspiration) was that 'rose chilling' ??

Blackduck · 30/04/2014 02:10

I am supposed to be london tomorrow today but a. Am not sure I can cope with either a 10th of the hell Herbs went through b. Am wibbliing majorly about the amount of work I appear to have come back to. As it's not a necessary trip I think I'd be wise to bin it off......

I am also trying to round up some kind of birthday present for ds .......

No booze drunk here - I think do and I are still dealing with the after affects of Sunday....

bigTillyMint · 30/04/2014 07:43

Just had an entertaining start to the day - on my way back from the gym, I got beeped by 2 young white van men. DH was coincidentally cycling towards me at the same time. I'm not sure which was funnier - the look of disappointment on white van man's face when he saw how old I was, or DH's face at seeing them beep meGrin

bigTillyMint · 30/04/2014 07:47

Beachy, I would love to come, but I have yet to convince DH and I haven't even mentioned it to the DC!

CV, yes I was watching with the DC. Mr Drew employed lots of tactics that we use on a daily basis, although we are not allowed to let them actually fight and nor do they have a massive campus to roam when the will takes themEnvy

motherinferior · 30/04/2014 08:30

Beachy, do PM me: fear I have however forgotten the date. Along with many other dates I have forgotten.

I worked not quite as late as Stropps but am now resuming again.

Stropperella · 30/04/2014 11:18

My family are all v. keen to go to Beachy's. Dd was v. impressed by your dd's fashion shoot, Beachy, and thought she looked lovely. Just as well I finally got the tent pole fixed from the last time we put the tent up. (Duct tape = the incompetent camper's friend).

Worked until midnight last night and client acknowledged receipt of file at 1am (so 2am her time). Back to it early this morning. And it's going to be another long day today. And then again tomorrow. How the hell I'm going to stay awake invigilating A level orals on Friday is anyone's guess.

motherinferior · 30/04/2014 11:27

I am busy soothing the client, the publisher AND the designer. This involves tact and diplomacy. If I were any good at T&D I'd be out doing a proper job, dammit, not freelancing for a pittance.

Blackduck · 30/04/2014 11:52

I am feeling stressed....
