I am about half way home and aside from mad tube moment (getting off at wrong stop, doubling back and then realising I hadn't gone far enough Blush ) it's been straight forward. Although call home has caused panic as dinner items have not been purchased and they are no where near ready for me to arrive home .... (I diagnose endless games of civilisation).

Friday sounds great fun crepeys.

Mothering Sunday got off to a cracking start here. We had to wake up at 6.45 to get ds off on a school trip. Set the alarm at 1.10, after too much wine, not knowing whether it automatically resets itself or not and too tiddly to work out what that meant.....quiet day here I think. May nail dd to the table to watch the doubtless fascinating videos the universities she has offers from have sent her.

NUFC69 · 30/03/2014 11:02

Love the thought of people rushing around getting ready for you, BD.

We're being very lazy. Greater love has no woman for her man on Mothering Sunday: I am letting Dh watch the grand prix, albeit about 20 minutes behind! I will shortly go and tidy up the kitchen and feed the birds - exciting stuff. There is a faint hint of sun through the fog. - gets excited --

NUFC69 · 30/03/2014 11:04

Lalsy, we would have had a similar problem with the clocks, thank goodness we rarely have early rising issues here.

lalsy · 30/03/2014 11:18

Well done for grasping what I meant NU! It was the hour going forward that caused the problem.

Poor DDog, beachy.

herbaceous · 30/03/2014 11:23

No early rising issues here, either. DS woke up at 7.30, which was really 8.30' then I got to lie in until nearly 9, which felt much decadent as the new time of 10. Got sweet card and earrings from DS, via DP.

DS now fully recovered, thank goodness. We're off to celebrate a great pal's birthday, just round the corner from QQ, as it happens.

Really wish I could have spent the day with DP's family yesterday and have a hug and a cry. DP has changed his Facebook profile pic to one of FiL and DS, and it keeps making me howl.

motherinferior · 30/03/2014 11:27

Oh poor doggy.

In sort of S&B news I am feeling despairing about my weight. Despite taking up running, which worked for a bit (and I am fitter and much more toned up and I know muscle weighs more than fat etc etc) I just go on getting fatter and fatter. And am combining menopausal expansion with a period which had me nipping out of a party twice in the space of three hours last night to cope with emergency flooding...

I really don't want to go back to 5:2 especially if am running four times a week but I am really low about this....I have spent my life from age 9 plagued with weight worries (in a family where everyone was slim - well, my mum has Ishoos and my sister had anorexia) and I am FED UP and it feels really unfair on account of said genetics.

I do realise this is minor problem, all own fault, etcetera tooHmm

Blackduck · 30/03/2014 11:44

Oh Herbs Hmm. But good ds is well.

MI tell me about the weight thing. I can't tell you how much I dislike my body at the moment - I know it's related to time of life and too much booze/calories, but I want my body of five years ago back! Not helped by the fact my mum didn't put an ounce on during menopause. I guess I will have to seriously 5:2

OP posts:
NUFC69 · 30/03/2014 12:15

Sorry to hear about your health/weight problems, MI. Have you had your thyroxine levels checked? I was undiagnosed for donkey's years. And I know when you're having flooding problems it's the pits.

Although I lost all the weight last year I would say I still have weight issues which are probably psychological, ie I know that I am overeating but am powerless to stop. And then it's like a switch is turned on in my brain and I focus entirely on counting calories. My fitness pal is good for that. I do sympathize.

cremolafoam · 30/03/2014 12:29

Morning/afternoon crepeys. NU we have cold fog here too. The stunning warm sunny London day yesterday is but a distant memory. ( apologies to London for wearing a sleeveless top in public yesterday- I know you have all suffered enough) Grin needs must.

Off to see poor old dad today who is still in the holding pen of the community hospital. Hoping for better news this week. Poor mum is wrecked. I am feeling bad as I have to work tonight when I should be rustling up a naice dinner for her. Dd is still ropey too. ( am worried tbh) she's so sleepy and pale.
Mother's Day may go unnoticed in this house ....

Auriga · 30/03/2014 12:50

My last post with its good wishes was tagged on end of old thread: glad the meet-up went so well and sorry to have missed it.

motherinferior · 30/03/2014 13:10

Have had thyroid checked some years ago for exhaustion and it was fine then...

Have just added moths to the list of nits, fleas and rodents afflicting the Inferiority Complex. Like the seven plagues of Egypt, suitably customised for Sarf LunnonGrin

NUFC69 · 30/03/2014 13:29

MI, I might be tempted to have it checked again if I was you. After reading MN I discovered all sorts of things about hypothyroidism which I didn't know, it gave me the confidence to challenge my results instead of just blithely doing what the gp said. Theoretically I am over prescribed on 150 mg, but when it's dropped to 125 it's not enough. Compromise with gp is I take alternative doses and then I feel ok.

MN threads talk about different T levels (have no idea what these things are) and how what is right for one person isn't for another. I would read it up and go to see your gp, particularly as you were having problems with exhaustion.

lalsy · 30/03/2014 15:04

MI, we once came back from a camping holiday with nits, infected bite, ringworm, athlete's foot and a urinary tract infection. I took both dc to the GP and said they were a job lot of infection and infestation and he examined them both carefully and then said with a smile, "So, you've had a good holiday then?".

lalsy · 30/03/2014 15:06

And Crem, hope your dd feels better. Did you get the OOH doc to see her?

CointreauVersial · 30/03/2014 15:15

Grin lalsy, I did a similar thing once, diving into Boots in the Gatwick Arrivals hall for nit lotion, worming pills and plasters. "Nice holiday?" sniggered the cashier.

CointreauVersial · 30/03/2014 17:11

Bloody hell, DD1's hamster just fell into my cup of tea. Luckily it was on the lukewarm side, but the poor critter was a bit shocked.

lalsy · 30/03/2014 17:20

ShockGrin

CV, did you know it was in the vicinity?

bigTillyMint · 30/03/2014 17:29

CV, worming pills? I thought that was just a MN legend!
MI, yy to the Sarf Lunnon affliction of mothsAngry

Hope all ill DC/DPs/dogs etc are improving.

Remind me never to plan two drinking nights on the trot again - am feeling very knackered despite having eaten twice my bodyweight this weekend (including late lunch curry buffet earlier) But I have painted the shed (think I ordered the wrong colour from the testers I got, but it's growing on me) and pressure washed the patio's in the back and the front, with "help" from DS this weekendSmile

bigTillyMint · 30/03/2014 17:32

CVGrin

Blackduck · 30/03/2014 17:42

Cv :)

I am not sure I will ever get Mothering Sunday dinner. Cake is in the oven, but the soap takes an hour of roasting and then the main has to be done. I will be plastered by then....
Life lesson ds - read the instructions and not just the recipe titles...

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 30/03/2014 17:47

Soap??? The minds bogglesGrin

lalsy · 30/03/2014 17:50

Roasted soap? I should be so lucky. But we have a large box of Thorntons and Nashville later Smile .
