I literally just dry my fringe without rolling it under and then without a guard just press the clippers against my hair in the shape I want.

anhyone got oopinions on voodoo vixen sizing, there is a dress and cardigan set that I would go as far as to say I need but it is too small. Only about an inch too small in the waist so should be ok with a corset.

autumnsmum · 29/03/2014 08:01

I used to love rockalillys blog but I unsunscribed when she started talking a lot about weight loss and excercise it should be about the clothes

Mckayz · 29/03/2014 08:13

We have a 60s festival here in June. I might dress up this year.

ditavonteesed · 29/03/2014 08:33

oops just bought this cardi and dress. I agree autumn although i guess people blog about what is on their mind at the time.

Chelvis · 29/03/2014 08:39

I'm joining in with a complaint - LadyPenelope, you have just cost me money Angry I followed the link to that Dickens and Wright dress and somehow seem to have an entire new wardrobe on it's way .... Grin

I love 40s and 50s style - it flatters me so much more than modern clothes. I've got a few Lindybop dresses and a few vintage bits, but I'm still losing weight after having DD2, so I don't fit into much! I'm absolutely rubbish at doing my hair vintage style though - I have it really long (down to the middle of my back) and the weight just seems to drag every style out.

Oh, I'm near Manchester if anyone has any recommendations. I'm planning to try the vintage fair at the Kings Arms, Salford soon.

This thread is bad for my bank balance!

I'm starting training as a plumber in September, who thinks I can get away with dressing like Rosie the riveter?!

I don't do vintage hair, I have waist length dreadlocks!

oops!

Cocolepew · 29/03/2014 09:11

Does anyone know what the sizing in Lady V is like? There are a couple of day dresses in the sale I like.

I want to reinvent myself as a sort of 1940s dresser Grin

Cocolepew · 29/03/2014 09:13

Oh yes, those ^^day dresses Blush

Hello! Have been reading this thread and have decided to take the plunge and ask for help.

We have been invited to a 50s party at the end of May. All fine except I will be 5 months pregnant. What should i wear?? Hair and make up will look fab as my best friend is an amazing hairdresser and make up artist, so its just the clothes that are bothering me. This is baby number 3 so I will def be showing due to lack of strong stomach muscles!!!

I'm 5 ft 2, usually size 12. Big boobs. Legs are my best bit.

help me please!

ThePortlyPinUp · 29/03/2014 09:17

lucy I think a Rosie the riveter plumber sounds great! I start my nursing degree in September! I sort of wish they still had the white caps! I'd have totally rocked one Wink

I agree about the Rockalily blog, I only followed it for the rockabilly styling and tips but that doesn't seem the emphasis anymore, as her fashion style has changed so has the blog, same with Betty Pamper too, much more mainstream clothing now Sad

A 50's swing dress would probably be a good bet Lily the high waist wouldn't cut into your bump then! something with some stretch, most of the lindybop dresses have stretch to them. What sort of budget are you thinking? :)

Budget... Ummm??!! I wouldn't mind spending a bit more to look/ feel nice. Feel rough pregnant :( sick, grey skin etc so i want to plan this night so i feel nice! Will look at what you've suggested, thank you!!!!

ThePortlyPinUp · 29/03/2014 09:43

Asos have some lovely spotty and print maternity swing dresses, if you could get co ordinating accessories they would look lovely.

Might not be hardcore 50s enough for the Lady V fans, but T K Maxx currently has quite a few Pretty Dress Company dresses on their website (albeit they have 4 less than they did half an hour ago....)

LoopyDoopyDoo · 29/03/2014 10:26

Has anyone been to a Vaudeville Rave? Really into electro swing, this is a great event for it.

autumnsmum · 29/03/2014 10:37

Diary of a vintage girl can be a good blog

Latraviata · 29/03/2014 12:33

Completely agree about Rockalily-I don't want to hear about someone's diet and gym trips-especially when I don't think she was fat before and is imho far too thin now.

I like fullerfigurefullerbust-although again she seems to be going more down the mainstream route,Sugardarling and Retro chick.

autumnsmum · 29/03/2014 13:45

Portly thanks for starting this thread got a lovely navy polka dot dress in a charity shop earlier
