Workwear orientated fashion blogs?

I lot of the fashion blogs I've looked at tend to be more 'school gate' fashion - great for inspiration for weekend wear, but I work full-time and would really like some inspiration for workwear. I follow twentymumthings blog as that's got some workwear, but are there any others that you could recommend?

i liked this for work dans l'ete www.marksandspencer.com/best-of-british-pure-silk-double-layer-shell-top/p/p22287945?colour=PinkMix but am unsure about the bottom layer.

gah.
I have to go outside to leave my glam portakabin to get inside a few times a day so cannor afford to be chilly. In the summer its dreamy though

plus look is nly a 16 left

Love the jig Belinda Grin. I'll give the Sloans a miss, forgot you mentioned the viscose.
Nice top, M'Lud.

Haven't bought anything new for a while and am thoroughly sick to the teeth of wearing the same old ding dong everyday.

kikidee - you could wear a navy shirt with navy trousers, couldn't you? Did you like the Mango cotton sateen trouser suit that I wore in that £100 interview outfit post? Style is SHANGHAI2, but if I wasn't looking for a suit, I would just get the trousers that are called JAPO as they are more flattering than the SHANGHAI trousers. I also saw someone wear a navy shirt with an off white pencil skirt (Mango do a cotton one, and J Crew do one, too) and taupe / nude heels. Looked v good. If you did navy shirt and trousers, a different colour belt and shoes would look good to break it up a bit.

Re black trousers, what fabric and style? Gap ultra skinnies work for me and are cotton twill, Mango JAPO ones are lovely and are cotton sateen ("smarter" than twill), and then there are wool ones around eg BODEN Bistro, J Crew Paley, HOBBS Shelby, but I haven't actually tried them on. Or Banana Republic Martin, and have them narrowed a little?

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 29/03/2014 17:14

Lord - I am finding silk shell tops v hard to find. Polyester? No problem. Viscose? Plenty. Silk, hard to find.

kikidee · 29/03/2014 17:49

Hi Belinda I could definitely wear navy trousers if I could find some! I saw some nice ones in Cos that zipped up the back but they were a little bit higher at the waist than I'd like. I ordered a navy and cream patterned pencil skirt from Boden which I tried on this morning and is quite good but probably needs to be worn with nude tights so I'll need to wait a few weeks (and also find suitable shoes).

I saw you try on the Gap skinnies but I'm looking for wool I think and looser in the leg. I tried the Whistles Lula and they were quite good but I'm tallish so they were too short and they were out of stock in the longer length. I'll have a look at those Hobbs ones but a lot of theirs don't have belt loops which I like. I've tried on so many pairs! A lot have been quite neat at my calves so I think I might have to change direction entirely and go for wide legged as they seem to be back in again and suit me as I'm tall.

Bearleigh · 29/03/2014 17:57

Kiki could you stretch to Joseph trousers? They are expensive, but IME last and last, fit very well and are good for tall women as they do long leg lengths (I am only 5'4" but have taller friends who swear by Joseph too)

LordPalmerston · 29/03/2014 20:13

gap ultra skinnies are v flattering

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 30/03/2014 22:25

No belt loops, kiki, but do these Honbs Kelsey navy wool trousers look good to you? www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0114-8329-9044L00&productvarid=0114-8329-9044L00-NAVY-10&refpage=promotions/sale-highlights

kikidee · 01/04/2014 22:47

Hi Bearleigh I have always wanted a pair of Joseph trousers but could never quite justify them and now two children later, my chances are slim! However, I will keep an eye on the sale.

Thanks for the links to the Hobbs trousers Belinda. I think one of the reviewers is 5'3 and they fitted her perfectly so I think they will be too short for me. I'm going to revist the Cos navy ones I think (they didn't have belt loops either - where are all the belt loop?)

Can anyone recommend smart non-polyester work trousers which are not dry clean only & have 7 to 8 inch difference betweeen waist & hip. Lots of jeans for curvy people around nowadays but not much else. I got jigsaw linen trousers last summer & Me&em cigarette pants in the winter which fitted well. Looking for something for spring & autumn = ideally cotton.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 02/04/2014 15:37

Djangor - sorry if I keep repeating my recommendations, but the cotton trousers that I have tried on and look best in (I am sort of Apple-y) are the Mango JAPO and SHANGHAI ones (esp the former, although thr latter are sateen, which has an extra sheen. Both have a little elastane). Also the H&M £13 ones, but potentially size up. And, thr Gap ultra skinnies, although they are cotton twill, so not as finely woven as the Mango ones. I did not get in w the Jigsaw ones, for instance, nor the Banana Republic Hamptons, or the Cos cotton twill ones. All too tight around my waist, compared to how I wanted them to look on my legs.

Djangor · 02/04/2014 17:03

Thanks Belinda. I've tried a couple of pairs of trousers this year that you have recently recommended & they were huge on the waist for me so I find your blog really helpful as it tells me what to avoid. I will avoid Mango & look for some Jigsaw cotton ones. I got a pair of Cos that fitted a couple of years ago but brands often change shape to fit the average female - who I understand is now rectangular (Boden used to do some trousers for curves but no more) so am interested to hear that Cos may be good to try again.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 02/04/2014 17:06

Ha ha ha - helps you know what to avoid. I am tickled to hear that! I understand exactly what you mean - you need a reference point.

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 13:59

Ooh I have next news. That suit. LOVELY

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 14:00

Trousers slim and long. Tiny a bit of stretch. Jacket button could be better but looks nice

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 10/04/2014 14:10

Really? Great! So they do stock it in some stores, or did you have to order it online? I am heading to Oxford St next Friday, sans children, so will have a look if it's in stores. Will you change the button on the jacket?

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 15:16

I'm home now!
I ordered online to collect in store and tried on there, which was a good thing as the lining of the jacket had got caught up in the stitching so they are ordering me a new one and sending it to my home ( lord the hassle arranging the no delivery charge was ridiculous)

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 15:17

the button is kind of in the wrong place, so I don't know if changing it would make a diff.... wear mostly open anyway..

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 15:29

www.next.co.uk/G56630s2#689491G56

trews look really high waisted here, I am short waisted and they are fine

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 15:30

( oh btw size down for trews)

Redoubtable · 10/04/2014 16:08

Legologgo really?
I went into my local big Next (their local 'flagship' donchaknow). I thought they might be on floor. Instead, they kinda looked at me as if I was strange (I am...but...)

I didnt want to faff with ordering (was waiting for someone else to do the work TBH Grin)

Soooo. What, pray tell, kind of shape are you? I am total pear (big waist to hip difference. BIG) so trousers are tricky.

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 16:15

ah, I am long legged slim thighs.

Stomach normal ish. nice flat mum arse, no waist (also short waisted) but hips

PHWOAR I Fancy me
size 10 jeans,
but tits.

Legologgo · 10/04/2014 16:16

the trews def seemed to have a touch of stretch in them

Redoubtable · 10/04/2014 16:29

Hmmm. I am short legged, peachy, large bum (small children have been known to comment on the size of it Grin).
I am the definition of curvy but not fat IYKWIM?

I find Next trousers in general are OK. A bit gappy at the waist to accomodate my hips. My best fit trousers (as in, I could almost buy without trying) are from Jaeger.

I am not a rectangle!

Still, I'm impressed with Next for offering what look like a good work trousers. I shall have to order these I think.
On foot of another thread here, I ordered Boden Chealsea's so we'll have to see when they come through (7 week lead time anyone???)
