Workwear orientated fashion blogs?

I lot of the fashion blogs I've looked at tend to be more 'school gate' fashion - great for inspiration for weekend wear, but I work full-time and would really like some inspiration for workwear. I follow twentymumthings blog as that's got some workwear, but are there any others that you could recommend?

This isn't a fashion blogger blog but has workwear outfits of lawyers, doctors, graphic designers, etc.

I like this girl's blog. She is also in the US too, but her style reminds me of that "smart casual" look that I see in SE Asia.

I don't think I can get away with some of the leopard prints in the UK though. I like her gold heels. It is not a colour I would have thought to use and wear, but the way she puts it together with the dark colours seem to work somehow.

Some of the look seems quote dated before but it seems like it's modern somehow. Like the silk shirts, and checked wool skirts. Because it's not been in the shops for a while, it seems even more modern. Burberry has a lot of nice mix check these days.

Yes, Belinda, that's the one too lazy to do links

It is almost exactly the right level of smartness that is appropriate to my job. Smart separates, not suits, a bit of colour, a level down from corporate black/navy...... I also wear sandals in the summer.

And FYI, Legologgo, I'm 9-3. Wink

Good summary Belinda although I do wear peep toes and heeled or flat sandals to work - I make sure to paint my nails though (runners toes, ack no one wants to see that). I do like a good pencil skirt as well which are tight/form fitting I suppose but not vpl tight! I work in an all male office (i.e. no one gives a fudge about clothes) and there are only 10 of us. It's not super smart so I can be a bit more relaxed than someone working in a really corporate environment.

Bitch alert - I imagine on Pinterest a lot of the images you suggested come up on a "workwear" search are from J's Everyday Fashion. Who does not work in an office. I'm not on Pinterest but I might have to Google it anyway and see if I'm right Wink

The sheer variety in workplaces and what's appropriate for each is pretty astounding. Business casual in varying degrees seems to be most common, and then, of course, you have the differences in position, industry/profession and personal style to take into account.

It seems to me that the only common ground is: nothing sheer, nothing tight, nothing low cut, nothing short, cover your toes. For me, I would then also add: good quality, natural fibres, simple shapes and good value. Not much to ask Smile.

Btw re sheer, tight, skimpy, open toes etc do a search on "workwear" or the like on Pinterest and you will still see examples of each. I was a bit Shock at what some bloggers were suggesting was work appropriate [cats bum mouth].

Oh I like that 9:30 to 5 style. I like and would happily wear well over half of those outfits to work although they also do some weekend casual stuff. I like that style much more than theclassycubicle blog from the first few posts on this thread which is way over the top for my workplace.

I recently stumbled on quite a sweet little work wear blog - Nine-Thirty to Five. It's US, so the links aren't a lot of use, but the work style us pretty much in line with what I tend to wear. I've taken quite a few ideas out of it.

Never alter it. Scared it will go wrong.

Grin
I alter bits, I take up (most) hems myself, fix a too-deep v-neckline myself, buttons, sew up those annoying slanty pockets that do not suit me, simple things. I have taken in easy waists, like on a seam on a dress. Taking in trouser and skirt waists, altering sleeves and more difficult things I leave to the alterations woman. I seem to have to alter quite a bit. It does add up cost-wise.

DTs told their nursery workers that I am 52 and wibbly wobbly. I'm not yet 40.

Something I always had to do when I bought suits was have them altered. I wonder how many of you use an alteration service or do it yourself to get a better fit? It can get expensive, depending on what you are having done, but it can make all the difference, IME.

Like the look of the Next trousers. Jacket looks lovely. Will be interested to see how the Boden Chelsea trews go. I am also of the peachy bum type, and DCs frequently comment on the wobble factor when I'm wearing pyjamas.Grin Mortifying.Blush

Hmmm. I am short legged, peachy, large bum (small children have been known to comment on the size of it Grin).
I am the definition of curvy but not fat IYKWIM?

I find Next trousers in general are OK. A bit gappy at the waist to accomodate my hips. My best fit trousers (as in, I could almost buy without trying) are from Jaeger.

I am not a rectangle!

Still, I'm impressed with Next for offering what look like a good work trousers. I shall have to order these I think.
On foot of another thread here, I ordered Boden Chealsea's so we'll have to see when they come through (7 week lead time anyone???)

I went into my local big Next (their local 'flagship' donchaknow). I thought they might be on floor. Instead, they kinda looked at me as if I was strange (I am...but...)

I didnt want to faff with ordering (was waiting for someone else to do the work TBH Grin)

Soooo. What, pray tell, kind of shape are you? I am total pear (big waist to hip difference. BIG) so trousers are tricky.
