Workwear orientated fashion blogs?

I lot of the fashion blogs I've looked at tend to be more 'school gate' fashion - great for inspiration for weekend wear, but I work full-time and would really like some inspiration for workwear. I follow twentymumthings blog as that's got some workwear, but are there any others that you could recommend?

Wilting - this first two Hobbs links look great. I have seen the skirt and it's really nice. Jigsaw do a similar one that's pure cotton, if you want another option. The Gabby (?) dress looks really. Good, and is wool. The last two are fabrics I am unsure of / avoid (esp polyester - I'm getting too old to wear it, as am starting to, umm, perspire, in it).

Interesting comments on the suiting companies - I. Have similar issues w Reiss, so often have to have their things tailored. I love how they look, but often struggle to find something that fits me well.

No one has mentioned TM Lewin. On a thread like this, their name should appear or, presumably, they have lost their way? I will go and have a look later this week, inc at Next.

Beattie (I loved that Australian movie from the '80's) - I have a similar background / approach. The rules of workwear are a-changing, but I'm still conservative at heart. Partly due to taste, and partly due to the environments where I have worked (male dominated - I think that can affect how one dresses for work). All very interesting as to how we dress and why.

Great blog list! I am on bloglovin', yes. PrincessDave - are you? I'm on my ipad, but I will come back when I can get to the laptop with some more. Mission;Style is one I just discovered and really like. She does a little workwear in her blog, too.

Lord - Banana looked cheap!? I wonder if it's because the shape is dated? Or was the fabric poor? I will go and have a look there soon as I've always been happy before, but perhaps their quality has gone down hill. Definitely need to update their shapes.

princessdave · 26/03/2014 09:03

Redoubtable - nope not those wedges, I did have a look after I posted Monday but still no sign. I took a picture of them on my iPhone after I saw them in the magazine so I'll keep checking. Until I find out they are say, £70 then I'll sob quietly and forget all about them ;)

Belinda- I am on bloglovin yes, also a lazy blog follower so really handy having them all in the same place. I follow AWO via Bloglovin (and about 30-40 others.....)

wiltingfast · 26/03/2014 13:44

me too, before bloglovin I followed one or two blogs and that was it. I follow 35 now! (inc yours Belinda Wink)

LordPalmerston · 27/03/2014 06:46

the fabric was shit

wiltingfast · 27/03/2014 16:20

on what? The BR suit? Crappy fabric will ruin a good suit, no question...

LordPalmerston · 27/03/2014 20:06

yup

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 27/03/2014 21:13

Was it wool or that viscose mix they are selling (think at least one piece of the suit is the Sloane trousers). Will find links and return. Although I should prob get myself to Banana Republic to work it out, myself. And J Crew, but the £££ of it is off putting. And Next.

Sloan trouser (cotton / viscose): bananarepublic.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1007478&vid=1&pid=000904793SP04-13649. Nice shape but viscose suiting? Beware, beware.

Martin wool trousers: bananarepublic.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=41699&vid=1&pid=000686100SP04-13649

I have the Martin BR trews. They're 100% wool, quite 'classic' in shape but that suits my shape. I love the look of the Sloan ones, prob not the best for me for work tho. The Martin trousers are fully lined and are really comfy to wear. Size down at least one size. Dry clean only. (But I ignore some labels.)

lurkingaround · 27/03/2014 22:13

Loving the site Belinda.

LordPalmerston · 28/03/2014 07:41

i have the logan wool lined trousers for work. Dont think they make them any more and I got them in the sale as they were. Wool mix - in theory dry clean only, Wink nice short waist. slim thigh long enough for me ( long of leg) and I am on yer two of them
Look great with a slim belt and a slim shirt ( channeling borgen)

LordPalmerston · 28/03/2014 07:42

obv look like frump central here www.realsimple.com/beauty-fashion/clothing/easy-wear-menswear-inspired-clothing-00000000046768/page9.html

Bearleigh · 28/03/2014 08:58

I always pay good money for suits, even if I buy odd jackets from BR or Uniqlo (got a lovely navy Uniqlo jacket recently).

Last year I bought a Theory jacket in TK Maxx's designer bit, for £100, then paid £250 for 'matching' trousers, but I have to say it is worth it, as the fit is amazing and really flattering. I know why the jacket was so reduced though as the sleeve lining isn't slippery, so it can be a struggle to get my arms in...

lurkingaround · 28/03/2014 11:28

Those Logan BR trews look quite like the Martin ones. Yeah, I have to be careful with tops or I feel they look a bit frump city, as M'Lud says above. Have them on today with a fairly fitted Cos top with a leather collar, esp for M'Lud, I know you'd love it Wink.

Mistaked above, Martin trousers are 95% wool, 5% elastane.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 28/03/2014 12:26

I just tried the Martin trousers on (I need size US 2. Come on, this vanity sizing just makes it hard for everyone. I am not a size UK 6. Gap and BR are v bad for their enormous sizing. Anyway...). They are quite wide legged, aren't they? Lovely fabric (navy wool), but it took me a few mins to get used to a wide trouser again. Those Logan ones look narrower.

I also tried the matching jacket (needed US 4 /UK 8. I need a L in Zara TRF jackets. Ridiculous) and it does, at least have a double back vent (most are single). I love a double vent - v nice detail. The sleeves are fairly slim, too (take note, Jigsaw).

I actually have the suit in black so not sure why I went to the shop to try it on. Also tried the Hampton trousers. Size 4 are too big, couldn't do up size 2 around my middle. There - no need to read the blog Smile.

The Ninah heels are gorgeous and Jones the Bootmaker actually have some beautiful looking shoes. Some nice tweed blazers in TM Lewin and I will return to try their suiting.

The wool rich suiting isn't at Next in Westfield. Will try the Big One on Oxford St another time. Over and out.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 28/03/2014 12:27

Actually, I was going to run into Cos, but thought if let Milord get her pick of the sale items first Grin

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 28/03/2014 12:27

I'd not if.

lurkingaround · 28/03/2014 12:36

Yes they are a bit wide Belinda. Not the most current ('classic' is polite, if I were honest) I think, but they are fine for work. I have taken in the legs a fraction from the knee down (sorry forgot that detail), Just an inch or so. It helps. Sizing is faintly ridiculous.

I wonder if I might try the sloans. Really like the look of them for summer.

LordPalmerston · 28/03/2014 16:32

logan are not wide - I cant wear wide at all dances hornpipe

Bearleigh · 28/03/2014 19:01

I agree about BR and Gap sizings: totally potty, and inconsistent.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 28/03/2014 20:30

That is such a good idea, lurking - simple solution of just having the trousers taken in a little. Unless you wish to join Milord:

Re the Sloans, I am sure you will be sick of me saying this, but they are cotton and viscose. And viscose is such a tricky fabric. Sometimes it's OK, and then other times it's terrible. I'm finding whole fabric composition thing both complicated and annoying (natural fibres aren't always perfect). After my trip to Next, though, this much is clear - no linen suits. Ever.

I love this thread and I love Belinda's blog-especially the 'trying it on at' posts. I'm an accountant and mostly non client facing now but still need, and want, to be smart. I bought the Zara silk shirt in navy that you tried on Belinda but I'm still trying to find something to wear it with.

What I really need is some good black trousers, under £100 ideally, but I've now been looking for them for so long that I'm prepared to blow my budget. I find dresses tricky in the summer as I won't do bare legs and I'm not a huge fan of nude tights (but will do) so I think black and navy trousers could be the way forward for summer. I have tried on so many pairs and I'm now at a loss.
