Workwear orientated fashion blogs?

I lot of the fashion blogs I've looked at tend to be more 'school gate' fashion - great for inspiration for weekend wear, but I work full-time and would really like some inspiration for workwear. I follow twentymumthings blog as that's got some workwear, but are there any others that you could recommend?

Belinda I have been lurking a lot on your blog- it is right up my street when it comes to workwear style and price point.
I love nice clothes, but am not prepared to spend £100 on trousers in which I have to crawl on the floor (I dont want to succumb to tracksuits as some of my colleagues do).

I would chime in on the Cos 'size down and try on' verdict.
I am a tall, hourglass with a disproportionately long body short legs and I have found some things in there.
Their jewellery is lovely- arty and different without being 'fashiony' and so is perfect for work.

floisme I was very sceptical about it, seeing their stuff online and on blogs until I braved my local store. I picked out so much stuff, some rubbish on me, but my favourite black dress is from there.

I've only been to Cos once, about two years ago. I tried on loads and liked none of it.

But I'm loving some of Belinda's dress choices, and may have to venture back there. It's a teensy bit more than I like to spend, though.

Cos is brilliant, half my work wardrobe is from there and I'm short and rarely wear heels! Their white shirts are fantastic quality and fit for the price and their dresses always look great on.

It's effortless style, for me anyway!

I have a few of their dresses, 2 tops, a bit of jewelry. I mostly love their jewelry but there is the occasional awful piece.
My DS is slim and she has Cos coated skinny type trousers with a side zip. She looks all '30, no kids' in them. (Reality is she's in her 40s, 2 kids). The trousers are amazing on her.

Having said all that I have gone in there and tried on and come out thoroughly fed up. And don't shop there if you're premenstrual. Seriously, that was not a good day.

Lord - I've gone back and had a look again at the Cos post, with your comments in mind. I agree that I should have tried the blue and the grey dresses in a size down (I will be going back to Cos soon, anyway, so will try again), but apart from that I think this might just be a difference of opinion. I still like those dresses, and I smiled at your tube seat pattern description of the graphic print I love. The dresses are a straight cut, so need to be worn as small as possible, but size 8 fits on my shoulders and hips, so I continue to think they look good. Still, you loathe them and I'm appreciative of you taking the time to post to let me know. All feedback is really helpful for me.

Stokey - it's mid-season sale time already - haven't we just finished sales? Anyway, good news.

IMO Banana Republic have some great workwear pieces. I have an old wool suit from there, that they still do. I do think, though, that Banana Republic and Jigsaw, which were two of my go-to places for suits, need to keep an eye on their tailoring, as some of it looks dated. Why, for instance, aren't Banana Republic doing wool cropped, slim trousers? Instead, it's the full length, straights (Martin, for instance). J Crew do (the Paley), but they are spendy. Banana Republic has the fabrics, and a great price point, so I hope they copy J Crew a bit.

Noddy - I like the fit of French Connection, so I'll have a look (I love pencil skirts).

It's gorgeous! Couldn't you wear it like the website picture, for evenings or with lower heels for weekends? I would.

Report
noddyholder · 20/03/2014 11:53

Yes I would wear out with t shirt/top and heels or could do flats in summer

In fact, I wouldn't, personally, do floral workwear. I wear a lot of floral, otherwise, though. Not Laura Ashley, that FC sort of floral.

I bought myself a cotton-with-a-bit-of-lycra trouser suit in Banana Republic a couple of years ago. It fitted beautifully when I bought it.

The trousers then just grew and grew on the bottom (and only on the bottom) - it was bizarre. I had bought it early in the season (31 January actually) but they were very good about a refund when I took it back in about June after I'd actually started wearing it. this was absed on just my credit card statement.

You is too purdy for tube seat dressss.

Now see, I think you could wear that to work. Take away the sandals for courts, add a cotton black hip length jacket and a piece of black costume jewellery and off you go!

Does depend a bit on how good a quality the skirt is in reality.

Morning all - I write a blog with outfit posts (nothing professional, we're not talking high-end photography!) of what I wear to work each day, occassionally on the weekend too. I'm 31 with a 2.5 year old and am 26 weeks pregnant with my second. I've been blogging since Sept 2012 so there is a bit of an archive. I work in a small non-customer facing office so I tend to wear what I like rather than having to stick with skirt suits for example. Mainly skirts/dresses, lots of colour, patterns and I blog a bit about my running too.

If anyone wants to PM me for the address I'm happy to provide it :)

Would it be so very bad just to post the blog address on this thread? [hopes not]

wilting - I went looking for the skirt this morning at FC, but couldn't see it. I think wearing floral print to work is a personal choice, and also depends on the workplace, doesn't it? It will be perfect in some workplaces, be a bit wrong in others (prob the more conservative places). I think in Corporette she mentions "know your work" when she refers to the judgment one needs to make on what is /isn't going to be a good workwear piece. Good phrase, I thought!

Bearleigh - fantastic customer service from Banana Republic. Gap are also v good. I wonder if it's due to them being US based and customer service being so important, there? I really like both the brands. bTW if the Gap website has a different price for an item that you see I store, you can call customer service and they will change the online price for your order. I was quite impressed when they told me that.

Belinda - not hard just a bit scary ;) I lurk on Mumsnet more than I post, I've only really posted in running during pregnancy and SPD related threads so I didn't want to jump in with a load of blog promotion in case it was frowned upon!
