The Anti-Color Analysis Thread

This is a safe space for anyone who
(tick any that apply)

  • wants to burn her scarves
  • will scream if someone goes semantic on 'Oyster'
  • does not want to be made to wear lipstick
  • is not looking forward to the next Kettlewell catalogue
  • does not identify with any particular season
  • will never ever do a style day
  • has self-diagnosed Stockholm syndrome
  • is tired of the tireless marketing drum of color analysis on S&B

I realize I may be endorsing an unpopular view but this thread here is for anyone who does not want to discuss color.

C'mon, am I the only one?
Raise your hand...

PS I will send a crappy lipstick personally chosen for me by a color analyst to the first taker. It's a shimmery peachy tone that has no staying power and streaks your teeth. But don't worry, it will make you look a million times better.

I will join but you are not parting me from my scarves.

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/02/2014 20:35

We watched them in 2 nights Linus. DH commented on my addictive personality and thanked the lord I'd never been into drugs Wink

Tyrion is my favourite. And Jon Snow.

tethersend · 21/02/2014 20:36

I have no idea who that is. He looks like a cold Spring. Probably.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/02/2014 20:36
Grin
santamarianovella · 21/02/2014 20:39

Grin tethers,

I like Jamie,

LinusDKD · 21/02/2014 20:39

Oh yes, Jon Snow. (Will he ever lose his virginity?)

And the Khal was yummy (married to Lisa Bonet IRL who used to be married to Lenny Kravitz)

Speaking about the Hobbit, I think Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn in TLOTR is my ultimate film crush.

MillyBlods · 21/02/2014 20:42

Frugal I too have olive green eyes and when I wear olive green I look amazing and my eyes jump out at you but other than that I don't agree with "Colours". I love black and it loves me. I don't believe in needing makeup to make colours work. I have often looked at some of the colour analysis ladies blogs and think that they just look like they are wearing too much colour and I don't see the person, just the colours. So........IM IN!!!

santamarianovella · 21/02/2014 20:42

Oh yes,Viggo love him,and it seems he stopped ageing, seriously he still looks like he is mid 30s.
I can't stop Grin at tethers ,dh is asking what is so funny!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/02/2014 20:48

Love VM as Aragorn, but not in anything else.

RonaldMcDonald · 21/02/2014 20:57

Jon Snow gets on my waps

LaTrucha · 21/02/2014 21:10

Think the derail into hot hosreman and dwarf love was a good move...

Can I say I am miffed because I have ordered THREE dark grey leather and pleather jackets - and dark grey is a colour I rule - after wanting one forever and they all look awful on me What's that about? Did not expect it and am most disappointed.

justasecond · 21/02/2014 21:17

I agree its all about Hoc on S&B these days and getting very boring I am mildly curious as to what season I would be but would not part with any cash to find out. I can see myself what colours suit me or not.

Seri77 · 21/02/2014 21:28

Why get so worked up? Surely it's only a bit of fun and encourages people to maybe try something new or boost their confidence and enjoy their clothes. People spend money on plenty other things that could be considered daft and a waste of money or with no sound scientific basis. I won't give any examples in case I cause offence.

I've had it done, it was a nice day out doing something frivolous with my best friend. I'm not taking it too seriously. I still wear black. But I like chatting about clothes on the thread for my 'season'. Cos I like chatting about clothes.

That HOC lipstick page is something else though. My eyes! If only I had a jaunty scarf to hide behind.

cardoon · 21/02/2014 21:32

I don't understand all the meanness, the sniggering and smirking from grown women Confused

MillyBlods · 21/02/2014 21:35

Whats wrong with us grown women sniggering? Grin

Pompbear · 21/02/2014 21:40

one of my friends whole is pale with red hair had hers done. she was horrified. she wears red as often as possible. nails, lipstick, clothes. her "colours" were earthy greens, browns, golds.

I have NEVER seen a woman get more attention from men. not that that's something to judge how you look on but I think its because she's so confident and because she stands out so much... always makes me chuckle when I see recommendations for pale red heads. she wore a red wedding dress. she looked stunning. stick that in your pipe HoC!

maggiemight · 21/02/2014 21:47

I have a friend who always look great - but it's because she can be bothered to try on everything, and I mean everything even that rubbishy bit of tat on the sale rail which turned out to look brill.

So if you can find time for that you don't need HOC but if, like me you hate changing rooms and want to buy online, having an idea of what to go for makes life easier.

My only query is that skin tone changes throughout the year, tanned in summer, pasty in winter, so that doesn't really seem to be taken into account.

Snowdown · 21/02/2014 22:00

I'm autumn and one of my best colours is red - I don't think it's a big shocker that a red head suits red! Even by hoc rules!

charitygirl · 21/02/2014 22:31

Oh Pompbear, must try harder. Every HoC palette, including 'autumn', has a whole section of reds.

plasticbanana · 21/02/2014 23:21

I've always imagined Tethers as such a lady

Deathwatchbeetle · 21/02/2014 23:36

I am really on the fence at the moment.

Loved the bit about the 'sewage' range. I think even if beiges suit you - do you really, as an older woman want to look like an old beige woman? I think most people suit a bit of colour (I won't say a 'pop' of colour.

Clothe wise I have a lot of black (well, it is slimming and I am quite punky in attitude). However I also like greys, navy and all sorts of green. Teal is my favourite colour and I like mauves around my eyes as it brings out an almost turquoise look to them. However I have been guilty of 'beige-ing down' my make for quite a while. This is mad as I love colour and hate looking drab.

I think everyone should wear what they want. I happen to love lipstick, some people never wear it or indeed any make up. I guess they should please themselves. I only wear scarves when I think I will get a bit sweaty as some coats make my neck sweat. UGH. Oh and while we are on the subject of sweat (well I am), it would be nice if more clothes aere made without that behometh - viscose. Every thing I ever wore that contained any percentage of that material and I am instant boil-in-the-bag.

No point me accessorising, I tend to lose stuff and would feel overdressed with loads of jewell-ry on. Plus my fingers are swollen with arthritis so it would draw attention to my sausagey fingers. Small rings would be lost on my fingers and big rings will hide them completely!

squoosh · 22/02/2014 00:47

I've never paid much attention to this colours malarkey, struck me as being something for the over 65s, but am horrified at the idea of being dissuaded from my daily lipstick habit.

Most people look better with lipstick. In my own humble opinion of course.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 22/02/2014 01:21

I haven't been able to watch the Red Wedding on Game of Thrones.

Red totally drains the colour from my face....

MillyBlods · 22/02/2014 01:24

I love a nude gloss.Grin
