Make up from the Eighties and Nineties

I've been trying to remember the first make up I used as a teenager in the late eighties and early nineties.

I definitely had Rimmel lipstick but can't remember the brand of foundation. Cover Girl is a possibility but I think there was another, cheaper one I used.

I can remember a cream foundation in a flat grey compact with a clear top. Does it ring any bells with anyone?

Was the foundation by Almay?

Bet it was that heather shimmer lippy?! Grin

purpleminion · 16/02/2014 00:42

I had thought of Almay but I think I moved onto that after my first cheapie brand.

Definitely wore Heather Shimmer but also loved Black Cherry too.

Collection 2000?

trainersandaches · 16/02/2014 00:44

I wore heather shimmer, a 3-in-1 brown vanilla lip, eye and cheek colour from Body Shop, Dewberry perfume, and Cover Girl stuff.

Pradaqueen · 16/02/2014 00:46

Twilight teaser lippy ;-)

ravenAK · 16/02/2014 00:51

I still wear Black Cherry. Three tubes of it hoarded in the fridge!

Pancake foundation & Barry M eye shadow.

purpleminion · 16/02/2014 00:55

raven I don't have any of the original Rimmel one but I bought a lip crayon recently that is a close match but I haven't been brave enough to wear it again after years of nude colour wearing.

I think Revlon are doing a similar colour now too.

I wore blue eyeliner like Princess Di. My then style icon..........

MrsPennyapple · 16/02/2014 00:56

Wasn't there one called Constance Carol? I think their packaging was burgundy though. (No help at all!)

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 16/02/2014 01:03

Eye dazzle was very 90s, with heather shimmer lip stick, im sure exclamation perfume or impulse
No idea on foundation thou, never used it.

HazeltheMcWitch · 16/02/2014 01:05

My first makeup thing was a Constance Carroll roll-on lip gloss. it was fruit flavoured, and I bought it form the Co-Op dept store. I treasured it.

MsWinnieBaygo · 16/02/2014 01:07

Natural Collection, Coty, Rimmel, Collection 2000, Maybeline, Body Shop and Almay were my make-up brands of choice in that era Grin

MsWinnieBaygo · 16/02/2014 01:08

Oh and Boots 17

HazeltheMcWitch · 16/02/2014 01:09

There was Outdoor Girl makeup too - IIRC, packaging in late 80s/early 90s was grey and pebbley shaped.

MsWinnieBaygo · 16/02/2014 01:11

Oh yes, how could I forget Outdoor Girl. Loved it - thought the packaging was well classy!

doubleshotespresso · 16/02/2014 01:11

I remember Sensiq make-up..... Ot would never come off though!

purpleminion · 16/02/2014 01:17

Amazing. Thanks for all the replies.

It was Outdoor Girl I was thinking of. Thanks Hazel. I kept thinking it was something like Country Girl so I was getting closer.

Twilight Teaser lippie by Boots 17 and Rimmel electric blue mascara was de rigeur at our school in the 80s. In fact, you were considered "uncool" if you didn't wear it!

purpleminion · 16/02/2014 01:29

All these brands are totally taking me back.

Exclamation was my sister's perfume. I was a So! Girl myself. I graduated to Lou Lou after a couple of years. I thought I was so sophisticated.

Charlie perfume by revlon

tracyandeli · 16/02/2014 04:49

Loved exclamation and Rimmel lipstick almond macaroon they used to sell it in woolworths. I used to keep my lipstick in a little case with a mirror fitted perfectly in my school blazer pocket.Grin

feelingvunerable · 16/02/2014 07:44

My friend wore Arabian GLow by Avon. She used it as blusher eye shadow and eyeliner.

I remember having a Constance Carrol roller lip gloss, spearmint flavour, I loved it.

Slainte · 16/02/2014 07:48

Oh the Constance Carroll flavoured roll-on lip gloss - now that takes me back. Smile

Allthingsprettyreturns · 16/02/2014 07:49

You can still buy Constance Caroll makeup

CecyHall · 16/02/2014 08:00

My Constance Carroll lip gloss was cola flavoured. Bloody horrible!

I also wore Heather Shimmer and Coffee Shimmer despite being a pale red head.

And hair mascara. Because streaks of crusty pink hair looked so good.
