It does, Stropps, but really, does it need to? What's the point, eh?

He alleges that this will mean he is in touch with his own energies. He is clearly insane. And it doesn't even have the excuse of novelty, he's been doing t'ai bloody chi for about 20 years.

I applaud your restraint and all-round broad-mindedness, MI. I would be liable to terrible outbreaks of scorn. Grin

Dh is strangely obsessed by the inner workings of speakers and amps. This can be tiresome, but he claims that it "keeps him out of trouble".

bigTillyMint · 28/02/2014 21:13

Rudy, mine too Grin

motherinferior · 28/02/2014 21:18

He's relatively normal*. If over-principled. He's the only person I have ever come across who has ever argued to take a pay cut. (Long story and I am relieved to report his wish was not granted.)

*given my track record of utterly disastrous men (see pervy SM fan, drunken lefty hack, drunken historian, pervy stoner and others)...

NUFC69 · 28/02/2014 21:26

Well I can't say anything about DH's love of football as I love it, too. He has two other obsessions: suitcases and jackets! I amost have to forcibly remove him from luggage shops and he has more wardrobe space than I do to accommodate all his jackets. And is it a man thing? He has to read every flipping word of explanation every time we go to a museum or similar - it takes hours to go round anywhere. And I bet I am the only one of you to have been to the US Army Military vehicle Museum; we were there for hours. At the moment he is going through our expenditure for the last month; I have just realised that I have failed him again - I paid a visit to TXmax this morning and spent some money (he would obviously have preferred it if I had deferrred it until March expenditure).

Herbs, if I don't have chance later - my best wishes for tomorrow, for whatever you decide to do in the end.

bigTillyMint · 28/02/2014 21:27

Pay cut? Definitely not normalGrin

Blackduck · 28/02/2014 21:27

Herbs nothing to add to all the wise words above except {{ }}
And anything I can do.

herbaceous · 28/02/2014 21:46

You've got to laugh. DP arrived home distraught, having just spoken to his dad. In my rush down the stairs to comfort him I turned my ankle over. Think it's just a sprain, not broken, but now having to sit down while DP cooks a curry. Wife FAIL.

Not sure if I can drive tomorrow...

motherinferior · 28/02/2014 21:47

Frozen peas. And ibruprofen. Also wine. Trust me, I'm a health journalist.

I've done the peas and wine. Is it bad news I'd it makes a click as you circle the ankle?

cremolafoam · 28/02/2014 22:06

Oh herbs I'm only reading your sad news now I'm home from work. That's been very sudden, I'm really sorry for you all. Fwiw you'll just have to play things by ear with ds. I don't think there is any right thing to do.
I canpoint you towards the Winston's wish website which has some helpful stuff for littlies.

Dd has very little memory of her mum at all , who died when she was 4. She was in the house the whole time her dm was ill and bedridden. Not that it's comparative in any way - each child will be different , of course.
Sad GawdBlush I've no idea if any of that is useful .- I'm just so very sorry.

MI- when dh took up tai chi I had to restrain myself from shouting "Cult ! Cult!"

I like your style too. For some reason, these situations in my family generate a range of unrelated and darkly comic injuries and emergencies. Something to do with everyone being slightly off-balance.

I am sure tomorrow will be exhausting but I hope seeing everyone is comforting.

herbaceous · 28/02/2014 23:29

Egads. Pain seems to be subsiding, and only hurts if I stand on it, which according to google seems to indicate a sprain rather than a break. I think I can accelerate while driving, and probably brake. Though the train may be a safer option.

Dammit. Wanted to be a strong supportive item, not a burden to be worked around. Will strap it up supertight, and press on. On the plus side, it gives me an excuse not to run for a few weeks. Though I had discovered a technique that ended my knee pain.

QueenQueenie · 28/02/2014 23:36

I think having to have cooked for you will have been therapeutic Herbs. Very selfless to injure yourself to take his mind off things. Hope you're ok.

I hope the change of tone doesn't feel too abrupt but....
who's on for meeting up round my way on 28th then? Was in the Vietnamese this pm, as I often am of a Friday evening, with dh and ds2 and broke it to them that I might be pitching up there with my crepey friends in a few weeks. They were rather miffed / amused. Think they might sit in the corner and eavesdrop... will have to get rid of them somehow...

Yes, Yes to mass gold skirt wearing. Those who didn't snap one up for £7 from Topshop will have to improvise with foil.

So, namecount.

QQ

CointreauVersial · 01/03/2014 00:23

Oh Herbs, you clumsy oaf Wink Wink I'm sure it's just a sprain; I think it would be the size of a football if it was broken. Thinking of you tomorrow.

QQ - YY for the 28th! I bought a silver skirt instead of a gold one - can I still come along, or do I have to sit in the corner?

DS was at a 50th (!) birthday party tonight (guest of daughter). 1970s fancy dress, which was a bit of a stretch, particularly as, like me, he detests dressing up. I ripped up a teeshirt, added a few safety pins, spiked his hair and sprayed it green, and he was good to go.

Blackduck · 01/03/2014 07:44

Herbs hope all goes okay today.
I have no gold (or silver) skirt and am an epic fail at construction - see ^ thread - can I still come?

He my failure as a parent in the homework front has led to a three line whip at school - I suspect every parent in the village currently hates me...

bigTillyMint · 01/03/2014 07:45

I'm in for 28th!

I just googled the skirts and there are only size 16's left. I'm not sure my sewing skills are up to taking it in effectively, but at only £7 I could give it a burst! I did have a great silver sequin disco top, but not sure if I binned it or put it away - will have a search for it!

Love the sound of teen-CV's party outfit!

Herbs, bit of an over-enthusiastic distraction technique! Hope it's feeling better this morning.

herbaceous · 01/03/2014 07:50

Hello there

Still pretty painful when I walk on it, especially around the ankle joint itself. But don't reckon it's broken. Rather puts paid to the idea of whisking DS off to the park during emotional trauma, however.

Poor poor DP. He's so upset. Keep thinking about his dad being all alone and scared in the hospital.

herbaceous · 01/03/2014 07:50

But yes. Barring family issues, I'll be there on 28th!

motherinferior · 01/03/2014 08:10

QQ, I'll be there. May have to compromise on gold skirt front!
