Anyone 50 plus out there? How do you dress?

Just wondering what you wear when in this age group? I tend to wear pretty much what I'd wear if I were 20 years younger. I don't work in an office any more, so don't have the problem of having to dress formally.

What do you lot all wear?

Thanks Floiseme that really helps smart and then mash it up. We are going to a local place that is a posh cafe in the day and a wine bar in the evening.
I have good legs and arms as I am a keen swimmer but very booby. I wish I still had a tiny waist but actually I find my figure easier to dress without Jessica Rabbit curves! I am a typical red head and look like a vampire at this time of year!!!!

Hi, I am loving reading all your opinions on this thread, so I was wondering if any of you could help me out and answer a few questions on my survey. Its for my final year case study, and I would be so grateful if you helped me out. I will leave the link below if any of have a spare couple of minutes..

Me too Smile

rachelmonday1 · 24/01/2014 16:40

Done! :)

Jaffacakesallround · 24/01/2014 16:52

Hi
Done

Just a couple points- there wasn't space for any comments in some questions where you had 'why' as an option, and all the shops you included in the 'ratings' questions were mainly lower end of the market and/or aimed at younger people. Wonder why you didn't include any other shops for older women or mid-high brand ranges?

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2014 19:23

Floisme, Rachel - have you seen Grayson Perry's CBE frock? '

'A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman said that Perry's "attire was entirely appropriate". Smile

fashionstudent123 I have completed your survey but was surprised that at the end I didn't have to say which age box I belonged to.

Anyways I have enjoyed reading this thread. Bearleigh pointed me this way after I started my own thread last night regarding my purchase of Docs. I still have a couple of years and a bit until I reach 50 but have been wearing biker boots for years Grin

Bearleigh · 24/01/2014 20:16

Hello Random! Glad you made it over here.

I completed the survey too and was also surprised not to be asked age, and given more shop options: the only ones I have bought anything at recently are John Lewis and Top Shop. Bit of a gap between Reiss and Burberry too!

One thing I have noticed about myself is that I no longer absolutely love shopping: now I just enjoy it... How about anyone else?

randomfemale · 24/01/2014 20:36

Know what you mean. When I was teens and twenties I loved trawling the shops and trying on -anything- and -everything-. Now I really really can't be arsed.

I must admit I do like the old t'internet tho I tell myself when stuff arrives I can always send it back butIrarelydo--

rachelmonday1 · 24/01/2014 22:31

ErroltheDragon: I hadn't seen it, but have just googled it and must say that I think I agree with the Palace Spokesman! I'm not a great fan of Graysons usual choice of outfits, but think that this one is very stylish and I totally respect him for not letting the occasion stop him from being himself.

Floisme · 24/01/2014 23:18

Errolthedragon thanks! Very classy, Grayson Smile

teta · 25/01/2014 11:38

Me too.I used to love shopping and would trawl the shops for hours.I don't know whether I am becoming more parsimonious or that most of my shopping involves school shoes, trainers and trackie bottoms or drum bits(and has put me off).Or its the fact that I rather shockingly seem to have developed a dd/e bust (having always thought I was a c)

Oh, I went bra shopping yesterday - needed a new exercise bra - took the advice of the S&B 'bra intervention' crowd and tried smaller band/larger cup ... eventually with the help of a very pleasant Debenhams assistant we worked out I was not 34D but 32E. So I had to buy a couple of normal bras too. I'm not displeased by this - they're the same size as before but better organized Grin.

Got a zip fronted hooded woolly in Fat Face too - a small step towards my belated NY resolution of Not Wearing Fleece Except for Exercise and Outdoorsy Stuff.

Failed to buy jeans... I don't want more bootlegs but nothing else looks right (if they even go on my chunky legs).

teta · 27/01/2014 13:20

Good perfume sale on today in M&S.Have bought some Miller Harris reduced to £7 and some other grapefruity/Cologney ones.Plus some pleather fronted leggings with 20% off.
