And a new door opens...Grin

I have only just discovered the Bletchley gels and I heart them.

NU, yes, my sister loves it and has lived there for decades now. And oh how we envy her acres of rooms and generally more spacious life on minimal money...

beachyhead · 28/01/2014 17:55

It was very inconvenient and I will admit, I'm not entirely sure I delivered the perfect 'in sickness and in health' wifely response Grin.

He's not a cyclist, BTM, but trains rugby twice a week (mud permitting) and dog walks, so all very puzzling. He's a worrier as well, so all this concerns him. I'm going with the trapped nerve somewhere theory as well.

Very jealous of new car and massage stories......

lalsy · 28/01/2014 18:01

My cycling DH had similar, Beachy and BTM, and it turned out to be stress-related, although the symptoms were real enough (close to collapse, ambulance, ECG etc) - he had been feeling unwell for some time though. We were lucky as there happened to be a consultant physician in A and E that day who knows a lot about this.

Bad luck BTM - vigorous exercise just what needed before dealing with double dose of shoos.

bigTillyMint · 28/01/2014 18:02

Beachy, the doc did say stress may have had a part to play in DH's episode.

Hatty, the whole bitchy girls thing has just exploded onto DD since about 2/3 of the way through Y9. Thankfully she has a lovely teacher who is on the case and some lovely friends (who were also getting a load of shit today). Having been watching CBB, some girls never seem to grow out of it. And from what I can see in DD's year group, their mothers are their role-modelsAngry

Meanwhile, DS is way too cocky for his pants. And his art teacherAngry Roll on July when he drops art.

bigTillyMint · 28/01/2014 18:04

lalsy, did the consultant physician say what it was/why/what might happen in the future, etc?

lalsy · 28/01/2014 18:06

Yes, I'll PM you.

beachyhead · 28/01/2014 18:14

Would you PM me too? I did mention stress, anxiety or panic attack, but typically was poo poo'ed..... Not sure where we go from here; certainly back to the GP, but with what ideas?

lalsy · 28/01/2014 18:17

Yes, sure

wilbur · 28/01/2014 19:33

Sorry to hear about your dh, beachy - hope it was just a one off. And sorry your massage didn't work, crem, I think I would be the same as i'm horribly stiff at the moment. Being hunched against the weather all the time doesn't help either.

Have just checked diary (am working on a one day at a time basis at the mo) and realised both dd and ds2 are soloists in a (thankfully informal) concert tomorrow - cue frantic piano and singing practice.

NUFC69 · 28/01/2014 19:34

I live in south Northumberland, about twelve miles from Newcastle. I am sure some of you with local knowledge will know it. Wink We are very lucky; nice house and over a third of an acre garden which takes a lot of upkeep.

My DH had chest pains last year and ended up in A and E. He's now undergoing tests for stomach problems but stress has been blamed. He's a cyclist and very fit. It sucks getting old.

Stropperella · 28/01/2014 20:00

My dh had chest pains once and I shipped him off to A&E and they did all sorts of tests and declared it to be indigestion. He is old and unfit (and has cancer), but it's me who exhibits all the stress symptoms. Grin
Am currently wondering whether reducing the anti-anxiety meds is such a good plan: am on Day 4 and my mood is already all over the shop and my sleeping pattern is shot to pieces. Boo. Dh is beginning to tentatively suggest that I might like to up my dose again. I've a feeling I may have a bit of a mad look about me. I hope the teachers at dd's parents' evening appreciated it. :)

I spent a lot of time this morning on the phone to a careers counsellor. There's still a free national careers service! I did not know that until today. It was very helpful and rather therapeutic.

I usually do circuits on Tuesdays, but can't thanks to attending parents' evening. Meh.

Stropperella · 28/01/2014 20:01

ps: Enjoy your slippers, MrsS. :)

Stropperella · 28/01/2014 20:07

And thank you for the sympathy re: my crap day yesterday. The dog is well in himself but a mass of lumps, thanks to a genetic susceptibility to cysts and an assortment of other skin conditions. He currently has 6 cysts and an unidentified "lesion", which appeared last week. He is cheery as anything in himself, but the cysts all eventually rupture and have to be dealt with, unfortunately. He has had so many ops that he now just wees on the floor as soon as he see the vet's surgery, poor wee fellow.

Stropperella · 28/01/2014 20:15

Beachy, wasn't there any offer of some kind of follow-up for your dh?

bigTillyMint · 28/01/2014 20:47

WTAF?!
DS is sound asleep in his bed and I have now woken DD (watching TV in my bed) up twice since 8pmShock
Could this explain the double school ishoos?!

Stropps, get back on your meds properly. You wouldn't just try to come off them if they were for a heart condition, would you?

motherinferior · 28/01/2014 21:08

Yep, agree with BTM, Stropps.

OP posts:
herbaceous · 28/01/2014 21:13

On another note, stropps, what is this national careers service? I feel I need their guidance...

Stropperella · 28/01/2014 21:17

Certainly sounds like your dcs are extremely knackered, BTM! Hope the early night will make for an ishoo-free day tomorrow.

I'm reducing the meds after consulting with the GP - although he wasn't hugely keen on the idea, I have to say. I'm due to see him in a couple of weeks so we can assess the situation. I'd really like to be able to do without any crutches, so to speak.

Auriga, my phone was a Googlephone and went catastrophically bonkers (perhaps mirroring its owner) whilst I was being talked through a reboot in safe mode by a helpful Google operative. It chuntered to itself in Russian until its battery ran out. Google will give me my money back. Allegedly. Which means the situation is rather better than it might be.

Stropperella · 28/01/2014 21:21

x-posts. Herbs, have a look here They have a fab phone service, web chat service or you can go in and see them face-to-face. Or you can email them. Or do all of the above. I spend 2.5 hours this morning on the phone and got a "plan" and a gentle kick up the arse.

motherinferior · 28/01/2014 21:27

May I add a heartfelt thank you to all of you lot, as I have done my feature? Am going to go and practise Faure now...

(NUFC, I suggested a walk along Hadrian's Wall just for youGrin)

MrsSchadenfreude · 28/01/2014 22:57

I have just got in and am a bit pissed. Friend is like an empty vessel and just pours wine down her throat. Am out tomorrow with Favourite Cousin and her Peculiar Sister. (But thankfully not their brother with whom I had an inappropriate relationship for several years. Blush)

Blackduck · 29/01/2014 06:34

Hi all - waves...
Stropps BDDog is also a mass of lumps but they are benign and don't bother him so the vet has left them - running your hand over his tummy is like reading Braille!

Ds is running a temp so I'm at home today - waiting for my re-routed M&S parcel and some CAT ankle boots (norty BD)

I am still seething re work situation and am trying to work out what to do - damn my boss for leaving.

No chest pains here, but dp is spectacularly unfit - needs to lose weight.

addle · 29/01/2014 07:53

just received my m&s order; not wishing to rub salt into the wound but one each of la rose, la fleur and le cologne plus a travel set. they look lovely. am currently wearing le noir so will have to decide which of the new ones makes the best contrast ...or i could just sit and look at them

bigTillyMint · 29/01/2014 08:16

I am waiting for an m&s order, but nothing as nice as yours... of age 16 school trousers for DS who is complaining his age 15 are too short. I hope they are long enough. Why aren't shops making boys trousers in longer lengths - he is only 12 FFS.

DD left for school quite upbeat - hopefully the dramas can be sorted today.

motherinferior · 29/01/2014 08:36

My boots arrived yesterday and are fab, though I'm glad I went up a half size!
